JUNE CALENDAR | 03

WHAT’S STINGING JELLIES! Welcome to the first edition of THE STING and the 2021-2022 term! If you don’t know me already my name is Irma, a current junior attending Del Lago Academy. This term I will humbly bee-serving you as your Lieutenant Governor. During my freetime I enjoy painting, watching movies, hanging out with friends, and taking naps as much as I can! This past term has been such an amazing and new experience. We served during global a global pandemic & were able to help our communities the best we could. Now that the we have concluded the 2020-2021 term. I’m so excited to see what the future 2021-2022 holds for us. Some of my goals this term include 55 MRP recipients, $3,500 funds raised for PTP, 300 dues paid members, and 5,800 service hours! All of which you can find on page. It has been so amazing to learn about each club & president. We are all in the learning process and I can’t wait to see how far we’ll go. This term I challenge you to step out of your comfort zone & try new things! Whether that be talking to new people or participating in more events! I myself will try my best to talk to more members, Connect with each school, but most of all bond! As I am a bit of the awkward shy type of person >-< So say hi to me, please! I hope you enjoy this months edition!

Irma Zacarias Lieutenant Governor

04 | LETTER FROM LTG

5800 service hours

Our service hour goal for this term is 5,800 hours. A bit higher than what we served this term! But I wholeheartedly believe that we can reach this goal! By implementing new service projects ideas and division wide events!

Funds for charity!! Let’s raise as much as we can this term & make the most out of the opportunities we have. Every penny counts!

300 dues paid members

3500 raised for ptp

300 dues paid members seems ambitious right? I know! But if anyone can do it, it’s US. I believe that each club can have 30+ dues paid members

YOU deserve to be recognized for your hard work! This term I would like each club to have at least 8 MRP recipients. As long as we all push and work hard it is definitely possible!

MEET THE DLT| 07

San Marcos Because of COVID restrictions, our school club has not been able to participate and host as many in-person events compared to past years. However, we’ve been able to conduct multiple online events such as writing thank you letters to people we’re grateful for. A few members were able to participate in this event, and all of them have had positive things to say about this event, including myself. I wrote around nine cards in an hour and half and it was honestly one of my favorite events that we’ve done so far. No one really ever expects to receive a random appreciation letter telling you how much you mean to them. But after handing out the cards to my friends and family, their appreciation and surprise made this event so much more meaningful. This was by-far my favorite virtual event our club has hosted so far since all of the letters people have written are so incredibly heart-felt and genuine; especially amidst the pandemic, showing your appreciation for the people around you is super important and this event was a great way to promote that. Even after COVID starts to die down, I hope we can continue to virtual events such as these since it has honestly been such an eye opening experience.

Escondido During the month of May, we had an in-person service event which was a clean-up at Kit Carson Park! We helped clear out and clean up around Tree Lake where tree branches had been trimmed off, which would help beautify the area! We had key clubbers without gloves rake the leaves/sticks into a pile and then key clubbers with gloves would be picking them up to placing them into a bag (that’s what I call teamworkkk)! During our breaks, we talked with one another and hung around the park. I had such an enjoyable time meeting and hanging out with everyone there! This was a Love Esco project and there were many people who came together as a community to help clean up and beautify Kit Carson. We’re all glad that we got to be a part of that!

What are the Key Club Levels?

Member level

Without you, our amazing members, key club wouldn’t exist. More than 276,000 members make up Key Club International giving back to their homes, schools and communities.

It all starts with members in a club. Key Clubs aren’t limited to schools. Some Key Clubs are community-based. No matter which type you are in, every club has a few things in common. For example, clubs have a president, vice president(s), secretary, treasurer and an editor. Clubs may also have other leadership positions, such as committee chairs.

Division level

level

level

Your club is clustered together with other schools in the area to form a division. Divisions are overseen by a lieutenant governor, who is a representative of the district board. The number of divisions and lieutenant governors varies by district.

A district is made up of several divisions. There are currently 34 districts within Key Club. Each district is led by a district governor who is elected with the rest of the executive board at the district’s annual convention. The district’s executive board includes a governor, secretary, treasurer

District level

Currently, there are Key Clubs in 38 countries. Each year, delegates at the Key Club International convention elect a new Key Club International Board, which includes a president, vice president and 11 trustees. The trustees oversee districts, similar to how lieutenant governors oversee divisions. Together, the Key Club International Board—with the guidance of Kiwanis staff—helps lead our organization and elevate our members’ passion to the next level.
