LETTER FROM LTG WHAT’S STINGING JELLIES! Welcome to the fourth edition of THE STING! If you don’t know me already my name is Irma, a current Senior attending Del Lago Academy. This term I will humbly bee-serving you as your Lieutenant Governor. During my freetime I enjoy painting, watching movies, hanging out with friends, and taking naps as much as I can! Can you believe our first quarter of our term has already ended?!?! Time really does fly! By now most of you have returned to school, whether that be virtually or in person. If you are in person please remember to stay safe, wash your hands, and be responsible for the times you decide to remove your mask. Be considerate of those around you & understand that not everyone yet feels comfortable around non-maskless people. For those of you who are virtual pay attention in class!! We all know “multitasking” does not end up well. Stay hydrates & get some snacks. To my fellow seniors, college applications will start being turned in, don't procrastinate & work efficiently. Please remember that college isn’t for everyone, if you decide to take a different path, do what you must. I will be here to support you all the way through. If you ever need to talk, please text me! <3 I hope to see you all soon at our September DCM & at your own club events! Please stay safe, take breaks, eat some food, and rest! You need your brain at school + your mental health will really appreciate it :,)Until next time jelly babes <3

Irma Zacarias

Lieutenant Governor

WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES? District ●

Districts can either be defined by state or nation and matches a Kiwanis district. Executive District Board is made up of a Governor, Secretary, and Treasurer. The District Board also includes one Lieutenant Governor per division

D37E is part of the CNH District which represents divisions all over California, Nevada, and Hawaii

Division ●

● ●

Each district is divided into different divisions which are made up of various clubs. Up to 15 clubs make up a division. Divisions are lead by one Lieutenant Governor who acts as a liaison between the division and the district. Depending on the division, members of the division leadership team are either elected or appointed

Here are some divisions in the CNH District ●

12| OLYMPICNIC

At the olympicnic, i personally enjoyed d37w strawberry cookies! They were truly delicious and that applies to all the food that was served. I had a great time hanging out with friends and meeting new people. I took a lot of pictures and sang along to karaoke. The games at the end was really fun and I might’ve gotten a little too excited lmao but it was great! Overall, I feel like the olympicnic was a success for PTP and it left me with many good memories! 💜 -Erika Sourinphoumy | SPHS President

Club Spotlights Thank you letters & future plans San Marcos / Emily Bautista / 12 This month a lot of our members have either been busy or travelling out of state. Because of this, our member participation hasn’t been high this month so we’ve held off on planning events in consideration of our members. However, we’ve continued to hold a few virtual events from previous months such as writing thank you letters to friends and families in case members wanted to gain hours and participate in Key Club events. Only a couple members took advantage of this, but we expect to see increased member participation in a couple months when school starts up again. Even as things begin opening up as more vaccines roll out and more in-person events start to take place, we hope to be able to continue hosting virtual events as well. The flexibility and accessibility of these virtual events encourage and allow more members to participate in volunteering, and this is something we aim to continue to hold even after COVID restrictions are lifted. Our club hopes to hold a fundraiser within the next couple of months to raise money for Key Club; we’ve looked into holding one at either Menchie’s or Chipotle since other clubs at our school have had successful fundraisers at these locations. Although our school Key Club hasn’t been able to mandate recent events, we’ve had a focus on our visions and goals for the next couple of months to prepare for when school returns in the fall.

Posters for seniors & origami hearts High Tech High / Ella Maldrid / Senior Summer has officially started for our Key Club Jellies and the rest of our school over at High Tech High! Although this long awaited break brings relief to all of the students, it also leaves us with a bittersweet goodbye to our senior class. Due to distance learning and hybrid learning being an option, a lot of students did not get to bid farewell to the seniors because of the COVID 19 restrictions. To attempt at overcoming this, our High Tech High Jellies made it our job to show how much the class of 2021 really means to our school. As a club, we banned together to create origami hearts and posters with appreciative and motivational messages. Those who participated in the poster making event at the school had also taken the time to hang the posters up for all of the seniors to see as well. We wanted to give the class of 2021 one last hoorah before they were off into the world outside of grade school. Of course, this project couldn’t have been done without our amazing key club members. The officers behind this event were so proud of the continued amount of participation coming from everyone. This service event was an absolute success and we hope our seniors appreciated the gesture.

American Legion Dinner Del Lago / Michelle Cortes / Sophomore I loved going to American Legion Fundraising Dinner because I was able to help serve dinner as well as helping prepare the food. At this month's American Legion I was able to help cook the fried chicken and prepare it as well. Some other things I did and that I liked doing at this event is setting up the tables along with putting the numbers on them. However, one other thing I did and that I especially love to do is promoting the food out to people near food4less and as well as the people who interact with us on our social media platforms. This American Legion was really fun because I got to see my friends and a few new people and members, go and help out Key Club. When I met all of the new members I tried to make them feel as comfortable as I could to let them enjoy their time while we all helped serve. Doing this really paid off because we were to get so much more comfortable with each other and even share some laughs. This made cooking the food and serving so much more fun and made the event that much better.

Mount Shadows Clean-Up Escondido / Emily Nguyen / Grade Crazy to say that the month of July is over already which also means summer is coming to an end :') the service however never stops! EHS Key club had an in-person service event at Mount Shadows where members helped clean up the area by picking up trash. And of course the efficient way to clean an area is to divide and conquer. Members had their trash bags in hand and started cleaning their designated area. It is always so great to participate in in-person service events as it allows for us to interact and talk with one another in person as that is sometimes just a tad tougher to do with online service events. At the same time it is also still important that we stay safe when conducting in-person events by wearing our masks and sanitizing often. Our members found it very rewarding to see the Mount Shadows areas clean and well-kept as a result of their service!
