Message From LTG ’16 – ’17 Lieutenant Governor | Crystal Cheng
Hello Red Pandas! I am super excited to start this year off with all of you, and I hope you all have been doing a lot of service out in the community-remember, it is suggested for members to attain at least 5 hours of service per month. Over the summer, it is recommended for you to have service events planned out and ! recruit potential members for next year by taking them with you to events. It is also a great idea to start fundraising over summer, especially for the Pediatric Trauma Program. I hope you will all have a fantastic summer filled with service and excitement! Sincerely, D46N LTG, Crystal Cheng

Bike Camp Enochs | President, Philip Gergis
Bike camp is a five daylong event hosted by the Society for Disabilities that’s main objective is to teach handicapped children how to ride a bike. The camp took place at Ustach Middle School, beginning on March 28th and ending on April 1st. Key Clubbers who volunteered would encourage participants as they rode and ran alongside them to ensure they did not harm themselves or others. All of the campers had enjoyed every second of the event since they were finally taught how to ride a bike, something a majority of them had always dreamt of doing. Also, getting to make friends with the Key Clubbers improved the experiences of not only the children, but the volunteers as well. Overall, bike camp turned out to be a huge success due to the hard work of both the campers and volunteers!
MS Walk The MS walk is an event held annually by the National MS Society to raise both awareness and money for citizens with multiple sclerosis. Groups of participants had fundraised money to donate to the organization, which utilizes its funds to find a cure for the illness. All the participants then gather on April 16th to walk five kilometers as a way to celebrate everything they had achieved in the year. Key Clubbers that volunteered at the event were given several tasks to help the other workers at the event. Some were stationed at the food tent where they would hand out food to the walkers. Others cheered on the participants as they left for their walk and arrived back, and they rewarded them with medals for their efforts. In the end, the MS walk had proved to be a joyous occasion for all who attended.

Trouble Finding Service Events? Create One!
Do you or your home club have trouble finding service events to do over the summer? Have your attempts to find summer service events failed? Well, don't you worry! There are plenty of ways you can help service the community! •

Ask other organizations if they are willing to collaborate with your club to conduct a service event, such as a donation drive day (e.g. e-waste, food bank, clothing, books). Collaborate with another club to plan a service project, such as making dog toys out of old t-shirts, dolls for PTP, cards for veterans, making bead necklaces/bracelets to donate to a local children's hospital. Ask your local library or elementary to collaborate on a Kids Day/Reading Day. Reading to the kids and having a fun time overall will instill a love and enjoyment for reading. Collaborate with another organization to plant new trees/flowers and gardens at a school, park, or just around town to beautify the city (with permission from the city if it's a government-owned property). Visit the elderly at a retirement/nursing home to cheer them up and make their day They often do not have many visitors, so having many younger, passionate kids visit them will surely help them get through the day!
