Hello Red Pandas! As school is starting again just around the corner, please remember to keep involving yourself in Key Club and service events! There are several events happening during the August month, so keep your eyes and ears peeled for these wonderful opportunities coming up soon! Fall Rally North is happening in mid-October, and that is when the funds that we will fundraise over the course of the next two months will be donated to the Pediatric Trauma Program. The division's PTP Fundraising goal is $1500, so I hope that each individual club will be able to raise at least $50 for PTP, and the division will do many fundraisers for PTP as well. Also, if you are interested in attending Fall Rally North, please start thinking about fundraising with your club in order to lower the costs to attend. I hope your first days of school go great, and hope to see you at future service events soon! Division 46 North Lieutenant Governor Â

July: Monthly Member of the Month Jasmine Prasad, Enochs This member was very hard working for the month  of June. As a newly active member, she has served 16 hours for the month of June. She was always looking forward to new service events and constantly asked questions about the organization. As it is now the summer months, she did a wonderful job in serving the community to be selected

Member of the Month. Accepted by Enochs President, Philip Gergis.

Officer of the Month Iliana Borges, Vanguard This officer did wonderful in the past month in communicating effectively with me. This officer had always offered to help out if needed and asked specific questions regarding certain procedures and does very well in leading her club. As the president of a club with relatively fewer members, she relayed her problems to me as she saw fit and did everything she could to better the club she serves.

Recognition

Club of the Month Peter Johansen As June did not permit as many service events (basically a “dead” month) because of summer vacations, this club did an outstanding job with 84 Service Hours for the month of June. As a club with very few members, there were a larger percentage of members who were willing to help out the community a lot during the month of June, and I saw that the club officers helped each other out a lot when in need and communicated with me problems that they themselves were unable to solve in order to try to better their way of leading the club they serve.

Advisor of the Month Nanci Tougaw, Riverbank This advisor had always helped out the club’s ways effectively. She always suggests new ideas in order to try to better the club, and she also encourages members to help out whenever they can. On more than several occasions, I have seen her go beyond advisor duties by giving rides to Key Clubbers to meetings and service events. She certainly deserves the Advisor of the Month Award.

Fourth of July Parade Â

By Philip Gergis, Enochs High The Fourth of July Parade is an event that is organized by the Modesto Kiwanis Club for the past 142 years. Hundreds of citizens had arrived at the parade to see the numerous floats and groups in it as a way of celebrating the day our country had gained its independence. Key Clubbers who attended the event were given several jobs including setting up the stage for the judges, setting up the trophy display, and selling flags and fans to the spectators. In addition, some members worked at the McHenry Mansion where they were given the task of selling drinks to the audience. Working at the parade was an extremely great experience since not only was the parade amazing to watch, but it was a fun way to celebrate the Fourth of July with my fellow Key Clubbers! In conclusion, the Fourth of July Parade turned out to be both successful and one of the best events of the year so far! Â

Modesto Gospel Mission Event By Philip Gergis, Enochs High The Modesto Gospel Mission is an organization that provides the homeless with food, shelter, and a place of safety. Our club was able to work with them on June 27th, where members helped out by cleaning the kitchen, filling several pitches with water and ice, and serving food to the homeless. The event proved to be successful since all the workers at Modesto Gospel Mission seemed to appreciate us assisting them, and those who came in for food appeared to be happy as they noticed that we were working there. Also, I can say without a doubt that all members who volunteered at the event had a spectacular time because it filled us all with joy knowing we were able to aid such an amazing organization. Overall, going to this event was something I enjoyed very much and I look forward to volunteering there again!

Tuolumne River Clean up Â

By Jessica Doxey, Gregori High At the Tuolumne River Cleanup we helped pick up trash along the river. Many homeless people live in that area so there was a lot to clean up. The event was tiring, but it was very rewarding being able to see that we made a difference in our community. Overall, this project was successful and the river was much cleaner when we left.

Officer’s Meeting By Thavie Keary, Modesto High On July 6th, an Officers' Meeting was held at Denny's from 12PM-2PM. Officers from each high school discussed past events, upcoming events, and ideas for events and fundraisers that may be done at a later date. Roughly 30 officers attended, all of which enjoyed their delicious food and comforting company of others. Nothing quite like downing your friends' leftovers while discussing a potential fundraiser.

August is Children’s Education Public Libraries Â

Books provide children with the best resources and inspiration to further their education. Some possible ideas are: hosting book drives,

volunteering at libraries, reading to children, tutoring, etc. Set up a day of fun by educating children in your local community. Education provides children with endless opportunities to strive.

March of Dimes March of Dimes is a non-profit organization with their primary focus of preventing birth defects and premature births. They promote newborn screening, educate medical professions and the public of the best ways to a healthy pregnancy, and have led the way in discovering genetic causes for birth defects. They have started a multi-year campaign to raise awareness for the causes of premature death. Help out YOUR local March of Dimes to help prevent premature death. For more information, visit:

Make a Wish The Make a Wish Foundation is an organization that grants wishes for children with life threatening illnesses. Wishes not only impact the child, but all of the people involved in it. Make-A-Wish serves a unique role in helping strengthen and empower children battling life-threatening medical conditions. Children who receive these wishes are referred by family members, close friends, etc. Most wishes are granted because of monetary donations. To help Make-A-Wish, you can start fundraisers, promote their foundation on social media, and volunteer at a local chapter. Fore more information, visit:

Our purpose is to provide proven techniques to cultivate one’s own authentic happiness. Project Happiness is working to help create a world where: school bullying will no longer be a socially accepted behavior, young adults will be taught to know and value their passions and personal strengths, and become more compassionate to themselves and others, building one’s character will be as important as building one’s resume, and success will be measured by the degree to which we experience meaningful, fulfilling lives (not just by our job titles and credentials). By Alejandro Alfaro Â

Hello Division 46 North, I am your division Pediatric Trauma Program Coordinator. Right now is the prime time to be fund raising money for the important cause of PTP. For many of you that don’t know, the Pediatric Trauma Program is exclusive to the California-Nevada-Hawaii district of Key Club International. This amazing program is dedicated to raising awareness that Pediatric Trauma remains the leading cause of death and injury among children ages 14 and under in the United States. Just to quickly backtrack, Pediatric Trauma is a major injury that can leave an infant, child, or teen in a state that can lead to a disability or unfortunately death. To combat for these horrific events from ever happening, we as Key Clubbers help the Kiwanis Family Foundation by developing local projects, which will help reduce the number of terrifying causalities on these innocent minors. As Key Clubbers, our best way of helping this great cause is by donating our time to fundraise money. When we fundraise money, we are leading the way for our partner hospitals to expand their outreach programs and inform hundreds of thousands of families what can cause pediatric trauma and materials on how to easily prevent a child's death from ever taking place. I hope you are all prepared and fired up to help me and our division fundraise money! I will be working hard alongside the rest of the division in order to make sure we reach our goal of $1500 for PTP and beyond.

What is the Pediatric Trauma Program?
