Message From the Table of Contents LTG 15’-16’ D46N Lieutenant Governor Vanessa Banh

Hello Everyone! I hope you all had a nice transition to school and are finally getting adjusted to school life again. Balancing your academics, sports, Key Club and other clubs. Remember to take a break every so often, so you can let your body and mind rest, as your mental health is an important part in success!

Remember the fall is the perfect opportunity to recruit new members as many are still getting adjusted to the new schedule. Reach out to the underclassmen as they will be looking for places to go since they are still young and new to high school, and Key Club can be a place where they can learn to grow as servant leaders.

Remember to be friendly, welcoming and inclusive during your meetings. This is essential to make them stay and return to the meetings each week. Also encourage members to go to service events, division events and socials so they can see both the service and social aspect of Key Club and begin or continue their Key Club journey. There will be many service events throughout the fall as many special projects will be held during this season. Always remember that you can invite your friends and family with you to these events as well! -Vanessa Banh

Club Rush and Recruiting Members Now that school has started, it is time to recruit new members, especially underclassmen. The best way to increase membership is to participate in your school’s club rush or club day if you have one. But how do you attract people to your stand?

Flyers and tri-folds Tri-folds are what lure people to your table. Tri-folds should have when and where your key club meetings are held and a brief description of what key club is about and some reasons why people should join. You should also include many visuals of the service events your club has participated in to show people a general idea of what key clubbers do.

Have small flyers to pass out at your table. This flyer should include a general idea of what key club is about, when and where the meetings are held, and a visual of something that we have done. These flyers are important, because people are always in a rush and they can quickly grab a flyer, also if their friends see the flyer they may also want to join.

Posters Posters are a great tool to attract students to join your club! Posters must be approved by your school but they should include everything a tri-fold includes. Both big posters and small posters are good to use. Smaller posters are great for posting on classroom walls with teacher permission and larger posters are great for hall ways.

Reasons to Join Key Club Here are some reasons to join key club that you can use for your posters and tri-fold or to tell your friends about!       

Provide service for your community Develop leadership skills Make an impact in your community and the world Break out of your shell Make new friends Be more spirited New experiences

“Based on your personal experience, why do you think someone should join Key lub? Based on my personal experience, Key Club is a very friendly and welcoming place. Key Club pushes you do to things you usually wouldn't do, like speaking in front of others or stepping up into a leadership position, by doing things you wouldn't normally do you're improving your own personal skills. This club introduces you to a lot of people and to new experiences, by joining this club you are in a sense broadening your horizons. I strongly believe that Key Club is about family, since you basically are treated like one the day you join. Like a family, Key Club pushes you to do your best and essentially helps you become a better you. If you are looking for a friendly, welcoming, and open atmosphere where you can make friends, have fun, and still be able to help others, then I strongly suggest that you join Key Club. – President of Grace Davis Key Club, Erica Langpaap

People should join Key Club to make memories. While Key Club is about service, it’s a lot of fun as well. You get to have new experiences and make friends at the same time. –President of Central Catholic Key Club, Juston Forte

People should join Key Club because I have had the opportunity to serve as a leader and demonstrate servitude towards others and the community as a whole. Key Club is a very rewarding experience that I am so glad I got to be a part of! – President of Beyer Key Club, Jason Leung.

Based on my personal experience, Key Club has given me the opportunity to grow. When I first joined Key Club, I was quieter and my communication skills were poor. Key Club allowed me to meet new people and I became more social. The great people you meet are only members of the club, they are also the advisors and the people who are running the service events. It’s amazing to discover how much you have in common with a stranger. - DLT DNE, Jasmine Yuen
