I cannot believe that it is two weeks until Christmas!! Christmas time is always great for me as I have Christmas, my birthday and New Year all within a couple of days of each other, so one celebration after another. Plus, I love all the features that come with it. I live in England so winter is kind of like how people wish it would be… Frosty mornings with (if were lucky!) snow, watching countless Christmas movies whilst drinking Bailey’s hot chocolate in front of the fire is kind of like heaven for me. Plus, the massive Christmas dinner is always a bonus! I hope you have a wonderful Christmas and a great New Year’s Eve/Day and I hope you enjoy our final issue for this year. I would also like to give a massive thank to Katrina Calingo & Caitlin Heartfield who has been working hard at helping us get our new look underway! You will definitely notice a positive change in January. Merry Christmas! Love, Jasmine x

Christmas, without a doubt is my favourite time of the year. Despite living in Australia (which tends to make an apathetic effort in terms of festivities), I make sure Christmas is a big event in my family. Gingerbread houses, Christmas playlists, hot chocolate, Christmas films….I love it all!
I hope you all have a very merry Christmas, and enjoy this month’s editorial, shot in the beautiful Dee Why. A huge thank you to the wonderful team…the talented Bronwyn, the exceptionally kind Rose and the bubby, lovable Kaitlyn from Chadwicks Agency. It was a great day, and I hope it captures the essence of an Australian summer! If it’s winter where you are, embrace the holiday season. Buy a Christmas sweater; drink eggnog by the fire and go carolling…just because! Have a wonderful December and stay tuned for next month’s RELAUNCH issue! We will be having higher quality editorials, better content and more consistent layouts so get excited! Lots of love, Laura!
dalliance social OUR TWEETS: “3 more days until our December issue comes out! Last chance to read our Nov issue unless you register…” “Caroline Brasch Nielsen as @victoriabeckham is the best thing ever” “SO EXCITED! Just saw the editorial for our relaunch in Jan!”

A trend is a general direction or movement. A trend can be changing or developing. So, what does it mean when it comes to fashion? Trends can be quick to come and even quicker to go. You might be a trendsetter or a follower and either way, everyone’s unique style embraces and showcases new trends. Once new fashion trends are introduced, they gain acceptance and popularity through how much we consume of them. As the consumers, we have the power to reject or accept them. Believe it or not, fashion trends are the consequence of many factors within our world. Fashion progresses and is influenced by social, cultural, economic and technological changes and advances. The Women’s Rights Movement saw the change of women’s fashion to a more structured and masculine look, sporting shoulder pads and suits; which is still embedded in society today. Similarly, technology plays a major role in the fashion industry. I am not talking about technology that advances the physicality of fashion design, but the technological devices we find ourselves on everyday.
After being launched in 2010, Instagram now has approximately 100 million users and around 4 billion photos uploaded. It has become the most efficient and simple way to share images and communicate, whether it is to friends or to mass audiences – A dream come true for public figures and businesses.
Nicole Warne’s fashion blog, “Gary Pepper Vintage”, has utilized Instagram so followers can keep “up to date”, with her account @garypeppergirl having 705,000 followers. Aimee Song of “Song of Style” has a whopping 1.1 million followers on her @songofstyle Instagram account; averaging 30,000 likes on each photo with around 400 comments. Today, fashion bloggers, designers and stores have the ability to communicate new fashion trends and clothing to the masses (again, a potential 100 million people). Trends, now more than ever, are being introduced, shared and followed by millions, within seconds. Instagram has become a major platform for the fashion industry.
It is entirely different to reading a fashion magazine once a month or committing to read a fashion blog once a week. Instagram has become part of a daily routine for many people. Sometimes it is a way to pass time. Fashion icons and bloggers update their audience on their outfits daily. The question to ask is, how fast are we absorbing and following this information without realizing? And are we all mass consuming the same thing? With new trends and clothing items being shared within seconds to millions everyday, do we really stand a chance? We are constantly being introduced to new trends, consuming and sharing them ourselves, then moving on to the next. Some 18-25 year old women discussed their opinions on the different fashion platforms. The majority said that Instagram was in fact their go-to medium for fast fashion tips, trends, clothing and designer information. Shortly followed by blogs and magazines. 87.5% said they followed their favourite fashion icons and bloggers through Instagram, and 70.8% buy the items they see there. Instagram was found to be how the majority discovered new clothing, designers and
stores. And when it came down to discussing the trends, 95.8% admit to following trends, with a quarter of that saying they do it in their own unique way. Despite this, the majority believes they dress uniquely. In the end, trends are trends because we choose to follow them, but the amazing thing about all of us, is that we will embrace trends in our own, diverse way. However, with technological advances creating a pool of information and communication everywhere we go, it may be time to start monitoring the amount we unknowingly consume through such applications‌ What do you think? bali: paradise on earth
An enclave of spirituality and culture, Bali is any travellers dream. To do Bali right, its best to steer away from tourist traps and over commercialised deals; and instead live like a local, immersing yourself in the many wonders it has to offer. It’s heaven on earth for all those interested in the holistic way of living, with an abundance of health cafes, yoga retreats and beauty treatments; Ubud being the best place to visit it your after that kind of vacation. Unlike Kuta, Ubud is yet to be tarnished by the growing Western influence, and still remains rich in art galleries, Hindi temples and forests. Not to mention a focus on the practice of yoga, and the spiritual and enlightening beneficials it boasts. A mysterious vibe surrounds the town, enclosed with secrets and adventure due to the steep ravines and rice patties; it’s the ideal destination for those needing to escape the world for a little while (or a secret nuptial…the choice is yours!) If the whole ‘zen’ thing bores you to tears, Kuta’s pretty much the Gold Coast of Australia, the Las Vegas of the USA and the Ibiza of Spain. You’re practically guaranteed a good time, with shamelessly seedy clubs, cheap shopping and a bustling beach lifestyle. Stay: Elysium Fields Bali (www.elysiumfieldsbali. com). With a private driver and cook, traditional Balinese furniture and an exquisite pool; you’ll never want to leave! Eat: Café Zucchini. It’s a little Byron and a little Bondi, this relaxed café is known for its delicious fresh foods. Relax: Panchoran Retreat (www.panchoran-retreat.com). Hidden away in a Bamboo forest, this retreat promises an unforgettable oasis that will fully relax and rejuvenise you.

and the world’s fascination with her Runway royalty and fashion icon, Kate Moss is quite unlike any other model. Shorter than most, she made her debut at the ripe age of fourteen, spotted by a modelling agent in an airport. Since then she has featured on the cover of Vogue countless times, shot with every major photographer and been in a number of high-profile relationships… and that’s only the beginning! In the New Year Moss reaches the 40year milestone; and still remains an iconic and desirable figure amongst many youth and young adults. Perhaps it’s her spirited, mischievous attitude to life that accounts for this, with many wanting to possess the same kind of fruitfulness and fun throughout their lives. Perhaps it’s her covetable wardrobe which infamously invented the ‘model off duty’ style, filled with leather jackets, skinny jeans and fur jackets-not clothes usually associated with those her age. Despite what people love about her, she’s a model of the world, international recognised, loved and criticised.
angular cheekbones, milky skin and a body of boyish beauty. She was different to them all and almost immediately the world fell in love. Nowadays, Moss is the focus for up and coming models, including Cara Delevingne, Barbara Palvin, and Daphne Groeneveld. She is their muse; their inspiration. She has broken social norms, featuring for Calvin Klein naked and makeup free whilst still just a teenager, her bare skin glowing against lit up billboards. Kate Moss broke the rules and then made new ones… and then broke those too.
Aside from being the IT girl of the fashion industry, Moss has posed for the cover of Playboy magazine, owns her own lipstick range for Rimmel London makeup, works as a fashion designer for her own exclusive range at Top Shop, features in dozens of music videos, and has since become a contributor for Vogue magazine UK. A list like this leaves me wondering if there’s anything she can’t do. She has been the victim of social scrutiny, the face and mentor of But what makes Moss stand out? 90s
As much as teenagers protest against their parent’s idea of ‘trendy’, many of their fashion choices always seem to find their way back in style. We have already seen the early 2000‘s bring back the 80s love for bright colours, big hair and soft grunge but lately unexpected trends like overalls and top buttons, as seen mainly in the 90s, are all over street style websites and the runway!
As reruns of ‘Friends’ come on TV, we can’t help but draw inspiration from Jennifer Aniston’s outfits, as the beautiful and glamourous Rachel Green. Overalls are back in, and with a few stylish rips and grunge-y florals on par, they have never looked so chic. Somehow 2013 has made overalls runway worthy, as seen in Jason Wu and Phillip Lim. Another trend that’s been high on the trend radar is the ever so preppy, top button. It was long forgotten (other than by stereotypical librarians) but it has made a steady come back in recent months. Unlike the shocking colour choices used in the 90s, we settle on wearing our top buttons done up, paired with statement necklaces and under leather jackets. Returning trends are always a winner for the runway because what was once stylish can be modified and advanced to make a fresher and improved idea. A few amendments to your mother’s or grandmothers old clothes can make them perfect for your next event-just make sure you pair it with somewhat modern shoes and accessories! Not only did the 90’s bring in a collection of new trends but also 2013 felt the need to combine all these trends together. Perhaps our parents gave us the basics for the 90s wardrobe, but we sure know how to put our own spin on it!

American beauty, Arizona Muse signed to Next models in 2008, but it wasn’t until 2010 and after the birth of her son, that Arizona rose swiftly to the top of her profession. Muse has been seen in countless magazines, campaigns and runways including Chanel, Prada and Louis Vuitton. As well as being noted as one of Anna Wintour’s favourite models. Modelling was not Arizona’s first choice as she dreamed of being an architect, but she now states that modelling has become a dream and with still being ranked 12th out of the top 50 models, Arizona Muse does not seem to be going anywhere soon.
its beginning to look a lot like christmas
With the festive season knocking on our doorstep, all of our minds seem to slowly be turning away from work, responsibilities and early mornings and instead towards delicious food, family get-togethers and end of year celebrations. Tiahn Wright caught up with eight of our favourite members of the fashion industry to talk about what’s on their wish list this year, and what their Christmas traditions are.
Ivana Petrovic: blogger – likeaharte.blogspot.com Wishlist: Anything from Zumbo’s Patisserie, a pair of Turquoise Kristabelle heels by Siren and, realistically, to be Taylor Swift.Tradition: After spending the week prior to Christmas, preparing the mountain of food, the big day always involves a quick opening of presents before 20 or so relatives pile into one home! A massive European feast is the main event of the day, and afterwards we all settle down with coffee and indulge in the even bigger mountain of European desserts. Basically it’s a long, loud day with enough leftovers at the end to feed each family for a few weeks! Georgia Coote: Director – May. The Label Wishlist: A pair of chunky sandals and nail polish! Tradition: Christmas Day always starts with our family opening everything under the tree. I am so excited that this year we have a new member of the family to take part… my 7 month old son Freddie! Even though my brothers and I are all adults now we still love to do this together so I have kept the tradition. This is usually followed by getting together with extended family for a big lunch. The best part of lunch is always dessert, which consists of my Grandma’s famous plum pudding with custard and a trifle! Yum! Over the break we usually set off camping (in style of course) at a beautiful and secluded location on the Murray River in Albury NSW. Can’t wait! Liberty Watson: Co-Founder/Designer – Watson x Watson Wishlist: This year I don’t really need present, although my boyfriend is known for coming home with some beautiful Tiffany & Co Jewelry! He knows a little blue bag will always impress me. Mostly I’m excited to have our whole family together…grandparents, great aunties, nephews and my man. Three generations celebrating being together and the beautiful meaning of Christmas. Tradition: First church as a family, followed by LOTS of food, delicious homemade puddings and custard, Laurent Perrier champagne cocktails by the pool and talking and laughing till midnight. Margaret Zhang: Fashion blogger –www. shinebythree.com Wishlist: A new laptop! My current struggler is on its 6th year and isn’t too happy about it... Tradition: A long day, eating way too much food with my man’s family up at Palm Beach - think bon-bons, paper crowns, and four generations fighting for summer pudding. Audrey Jaggs: PR Manager – Stem Distribution Wishlist: Commoners tees and anything Isabel Marant pour H&M! Tradition:“Blast this Christmas music. It’s joyful and triumphant”- The Grinch
Alyssa Amelia – www.alyssmn.com.au Wishlist: A white female French bulldog for Fatty to play with (one can dream!), the Irina boot by Alexander Wang, Flowerbomb by Viktor and Rolf, The Cloud Nine straightener, 14,000 Things To Be Happy About by Barbara Ann Kipfer and New York City - Lower Manhattan 006 art piece by Lance Vaughn. Tradition: I basically spend my Christmas with my family at Nonna’s house surrounded by the most amazing food and the lovely company of my closest relatives. We play Kris Kringle every single year even though there are only seven of us, and we always open the presents at 12am on the dot without fail. As my family isn’t religious, we just concentrate solely on spending time with each other, laughing and having a great time whilst opening gifts that had been carefully thought out for us. For us, Christmas is all about surrounding yourself with positive, kind hearted people Cydney Morris: Designer and co-owner of Stone Cold Fox Wishlist: Celine shoes, a flight anywhere, new work out clothes, French linen shams and art coffee table books. Traditions: I always spend it with my family down in Laguna Beach. We go to my grandmother’s house and have a huge dinner, open presents, drink lots of wine, and play games. We are pretty traditional and have all the dogs and kids hanging out. I love it and wouldn’t miss it for the world!
Lucie Ferguson: Owner/Jeweler www.babyanything.com Wishlist: On my wish list is a puppy…a blue English staffordshire bull terrier! We have always had staffies and I’m ready for a Babyanything sidekick in the studio. But for something more ‘off the shelf ’ would be the Proenza Schouler PS11 bag in red! Tradition: Our Christmas tradition is the Ferguson family annual Christmas tree hunt. The three of us get up at the crack of dawn and dress in the usual denim shorts to fight with small children and families over the best freshly cut Christmas tree. My sister Elle and I always crack up as we have to shove the beautiful tree into the back of a little hatch back. It’s like a scene from the Griswold’s Christmas movie!
