Brief: Fashion Branding

Context

Brief

Two students asked me to come up with their fashion branding (one each) four days before their deadline. They wanted just a logo and a set of business cards. Sophie’s work focuses on faux fur and takes a lot of inspiration from pop art. Tom’s work also features faux fur but his style is more sleek and simple

Tone of Voice/ Target Audience

Come up with two separate fashion student branding within at least two days. Keep the designs fresh and contemporary.

Deliverables

The audience would be employees and members of the fashion industry. The tone of voice should be serious but exciting. The designs need to stand out amongst the other students.

Design Research/ Reference Imagery

Fashion Branding

I researched multiple fashion branding designs and noticed that a lot of designs featured minimal imagery and was more about the impact of typography.

Sophies Branding

Sophies work features a lot of light pinks and is quite playful. She asked for her design to be very sleek, but at the same time she wants something that will make it approachable and friendly.

Tom has a very strict and structured style and wanted me to use either black, white or gray.

Design Development

Brief: Fashion Branding

Sophie’s Logo

So for Sophie’s logo I was able to develop it as she was sat with me, so she got a say in how she wanted it. We kept the light pink as it was relevant to her work, it was more about picking a light font that she really liked, and in the end decided on Gill Sans.

Toms Logo

When developing Toms identity I got the impression that he was quite a bold character, so I tried to construct the typography in a way that would show his personality.

Finished Designs

Brief: Fashion Branding

Thomas Luke Robinson Concept

I kept the design black and white and used Gotham as his type face. The text stretched across the front is bold and exciting and creates quite an impact, with the white contrasting against the black. Tom also asked for a set of four swing tags with different animals for the different types of materials his clothes were made out of.

Sophie’s Concept

I tried to keep Sophie’s design very simple, elegant and feminine, as she had asked. I came up with the idea of having a needle and thread underlining her name, which is relevant to her creative practice. At the same time the design is very sleek, but is quite light making it much more friendly and approachable.
