Old manuals & Memo Books
I looked into old manuals and memo books to gather inspiration for the research book. I like the idea of the books being a sort of manual to my design practice.
Field Notes
A lot of my inspiration came from the popular Field Notes books designed by Aaron Draplin. I like the idea of a small pocket sized book that you can carry around with you.

Development
I came up with the idea of three manuals. One on my methodology, one on my inspiration and one on my design practice. The books would come in a set bound with staples and finished with a belly band.
The Size
I wanted the books to replicate old memo books used by engineers and designers, so I’ve made the size a6 so that it is pocket size.

The Book Set
The set is small and pocket sized. The first book takes a step by step guide on how I work on a brief, the second highlights my inspiration and designers that I am interested in and the last one is a selection of work from my time as a third year.
Belly Band
The belly band finished the set off nicely and holds them together.
