Dave Pearce and Pascal Ellinas, better known by their stage name Pascal & Pearce, are the dynamic electronic DJ duo, who’ve just been signed to the Universal Music Group. They’re making waves locally and internationally and have enjoyed 7 top 10 singles, three SAMA nominations and have a regular spot on 5FM every Wednesday. We’re always enormously proud of our local talent and this pair have it in spades. What made you guys decide to join forces? P&P: We were introduced through mutual friends in 2007, so it was more the force of nature that brought us together. Also, we both thought the idea of not having to answer to anyone was a magnificent idea. How would you describe your sound? P&P: Today we make an array of electronic dance music, something that has a sample of everything, whilst keeping it interpretable. Our aim is to make music that is versatile enough for anyone to dance to. What have been some of your proudest career achievements? P&P: We have been fortunate enough to have had some very proud moments, from our first number 1 on national radio, to performing at South Africa’s biggest music festivals, or more recently being signed to the Universal Music Group, we try appreciate it all, whilst remaining forever grateful.

Who or what inspires your music? P&P: South African politics, and everything utterly mundane. Just joking! We make music that generally makes us happy, it tends to have the best outcome. We like to think that having a positive environment and routine is a big part of our success. What can fans expect from you in 2017? P&P: Lots of music with new collaborations. How do you manage to balance work with your personal lives? P&P: Structure & communication. We also have amazing women in our lives, who are equally ambitious. We both have dogs, and we love playing football. So, we think our trick is to do what you love. The bigger the plan the more patience required.
Do you have any tips for aspiring artists? P&P: Don’t stop making music. Eventually someone who is connected will listen. Be prepared to learn everyday whilst staying patient. Have fun, this industry is not for the serious type. If you weren’t doing this, what would you be doing? Pascal: Probably something to do with Environment resources, future city planning (yes there will be more night clubs and restaurants that stay open until at least 1am) Dave: Motion Graphics Designer.
