Night Nation Run 21 JAN

A ‘running music festival’ takes place on the streets of Cape Town. Night Nation Run has organised a 5km ‘musical voyage’ filled with live music, multiple stages, light and laser shows. Participants run, walk, skip, or dance their way along the route, to the accompanying sounds of high-energy Electronic Dance Music (EDM). The run is also in support of a charitable cause, The Pink Drive. Starting at the Grand Parade where the pre-party gets participants ready for the run, before making their way through an illuminated racecourse, stopping to experience three other spectacular stages. Cape Town Sixes Festival

Cape Town Motor Show

A sporting festival that combines sport, music, food and social development (CSR) in the townships of the Western Cape. This year it features several cricket leagues, a food village and live music having last featured South African band, Mango Groove, Jimmy Nevis, The Kiffness and Rory Elliot. Up the Creek 26-29 JAN

For the past 26 years, this event has managed to remain small and intimate while growing in reputation and attracting South Africa’s best live acts. The venue offers a waterside experience, with the unique Sedgwicks Old Brown River Stage. Bands play to a floating crowd from a stage that is built on the banks on the river. The eleven featured acts include Dan Patlansky, The Black Cat Bones, Albert Frost, Rubber Duc, Ben Dey and the Concrete Lions, The Kiffness, Gerald Clark and the Deadmen, Medicine Boy, Taxi Violence, Jackal and the Wind and Jak Skandi. The ‘Anything That Floats’ competition allows the most innovative craft to win a prize. Taking place at the Breede River, Swellendam from 3pm on Friday. Tickets cost R970 at www.upthecreek.co.za

Written by and starring acclaimed playwright, Robert Fridjhon, comes a comedic and inventive tale of the one case Sherlock Holmes never wanted mentioned, or written about. Also starring Craig Jackson, best known for his film and television work (Sober Companion, Black Sails, Binneland and Isidingo) and Bronwyn Gottwald (Boeing-Boeing, Twitch).
