What is your favourite way to relax? Nothing compares to spending quality time in nature, at our caravan at Theewaterskloof Dam. Growing up on a farm it's probably a way of getting back to my roots. Your top tip for juggling work and family life? Delegate efficiently through proper training. Where did the inspiration come from to start your own business? It naturally stems from the way I grew up. There was nothing 8-5 about the way my parents raised me nor about the way I run my business today. What do you find most challenging about motherhood? Those rare but dreadful moments when my children choose my husband over me. I fleetingly feel like a failure as a mother, but then realise how traditional roles have changed. PASSIONATE ABOUT CARS

By Danni Thunell Ende

This month we met up with the owner of the newly launched Topwash car wash service in Camps Bay, Terence Burchell. Terence is an absolute car fanatic who saw a gap in the market for a luxury car wash service with extremely high standards, attention to detail and which is owner supervised. For those passionate about their cars this will be a real treat... Have you always been a car fanatic? Yes- my folks tell me I knew the name of every car on the road when I was 3 and my first word was “car. What is your earliest motoring memory? I have so many. My fondest is when my dad used to take me to Ashley's sports car dealership in town on Saturdays to look at all the supercars. What inspired you to launch Topwash? I always thought there was a lack of proper car washes where the staff were trained and knew how to clean cars properly without damaging them. I've had my car damaged a few times and decided that I could do better. What is your vision for the brand? I'd like to open a few more branches around Cape Town. What makes you different from typical car wash services? The products we use and the attention to detail as well as the fact that our staff are properly trained and owner supervised.

Describe the process of your black top of the range wash- what makes it so special. It' is a full restoration on your car including an interior and exterior valet, engine compartment and undercarriage degrease and high pressure wash and a full paint correction using an orbital buffing machine in 3 steps to get rid of scratches and swirl marks and then we apply wax to protect the paint. What can a customer do in the area whilst they wait for their car to be finished? We have a waiting area with a coffee and tea station and DSTV and lots of reading material as well as offering a pick up and drop off service for you or your car. What is the fanciest car you've had come to your car wash since you opened? Porsche 911 GTS, Audi RS7 and a few AMG Mercedes-Benzes which are my favourite Any advice for other aspiring entrepreneurs? Don't be scared to take chances and get out there and do it!

Terence Burchell and his assistant, Antonio Longari
