A SLOW RIDE TO SHOW SOLIDARITY FOR DAR CYCLISTS

CEO OF SWISS NATIONAL PARK REACHED THE PEAK OF MOUNT KILIMANJARO

More than 400 male and female cyclists and joggers of various ethnicities, abilities and ages participated in the 18th edition of Dar Cycle Caravan that took place on Sunday 28th November 2021 at Mnazi Moja Grounds in Dar es Salaam. The event was again organized by Umma wa Wapanda Baisikeli (UWABA) in conjunction with the European Union (EU) in Tanzania as part of creating awareness on environmental protection and marking the end of a campaign, "Resilience to Climate Change''. As is customary after the caravan, there were raffle draws in which several participants won 400 reflective jackets, 400 recycled water bottles, 150 helmets, 6 normal bikes and 3 hand bikes.

Rudolf Michael Haller, the Director of the Swiss National Park successfully made it to the peak of the highest mountain on the African continent and the highest free-standing mountain in the world, Mount Kilimanjaro. Haller, who was accompanied by his wife Ms. Barbara Haller, said that he is happy that he has accomplished his lifetime dream of coming to Tanzania to climb Mount Kilimanjaro.” This will now be recorded in my diary and for sure I will be your goodwill ambassador in promoting Mount Kilimanjaro in Switzerland,’ said Haller. Haller, the Director of the only National Park in Switzerland, was in Tanzania for the special mission of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, which took him five days to accomplish. Assistant Conservation Commissioner and Commanding Officer of the Kilimanjaro National Park, Angela Nyaki received them at Marangu gate and exchanged ideas on how best these two parks can work together as well as encourage more mountain climbers from Switzerland.

AIR TANZANIA ORDERS NEW BOEING FREIGHTER AND PASSENGER JETS

EAST AFRICAN COMMUNITY LAUNCHES NEW INTRA-REGIONAL TOURISM DRIVE

Boeing and the United Republic of Tanzania announced an order for a 787-8 Dreamliner, a 767-300 Freighter and two 737 MAX jets at the 2021 Dubai Airshow. The airplanes will be operated by Air Tanzania, the national flag-carrier of Tanzania, to expand service from the country to new markets across Africa, Asia and Europe. The order, valued at more than $726 million at list prices, was previously unidentified on the Boeing Orders and Deliveries website. Based in Dar es Salaam, the carrier will expand its current fleet of 787s, leveraging the new 737s for its regional network and the 767 Freighter to capitalize on Africa’s burgeoning cargo demand.

The East African Community (EAC) has launched the EAC Regional and Domestic Tourism Media Campaign set to publicize national and regional tourist attraction sites and services, aiming to stimulate and develop intra-regional travel. Launched this week, the “Tembea Nyumbani”, or “Visit Home” campaign seeks to attract East African citizens to travel in their own countries, then around the region, in an effort to revive domestic and regional tourism across the East African region, amid the COVID -19 pandemic. The campaign is set to run for three weeks, from December 1, 2021. It is part of the implementation of the EAC Tourism Marketing Strategy and EAC Recovery Plan supported by the German Development Agency, GIZ.
