ow do we have some fantastic features and competitions for you in this edition! In our previous issue of Here & now we did a fashion feature using local girls, not professional models, local fashion specialists ISIS Goddesswear of Saltaire, Caron Cobe of Yeadon and Tip Toes of Guiseley, all very kindly provided the clothes, accessories and footwear, YAZZ Number One Hair Design did an amazing job on the girls hair and makeup and Amanda Ramsey of Cream Photography took all of the fashion photographs in the beautiful setting of Quebecs Boutique Hotel in Leeds. So we were wondering how we could top this when I was contacted by two local male models who have worked at the top end of modelling worldwide, they had seen the feature and wanted us to help them find local modelling talent through a competition! He commenced his professional career at the University Hospital Antwerp and was subsequently appointed as a consultant orthopaedic surgeon at the Bradford Royal Infirmary in 1999. His special interests are shoulder and hip arthroscopy and groin injuries from sports.

Professor Schilders is recognised as one of the leading hip arthroscopists (examination of a joint with a device called an arthroscope inserted through a small incision in the skin) in the country and is currently conducting several large studies looking at
femoroacetabular impingement and instability of the hip. Professor Schilders is also a reviewer for the British Journal of Sports Medicine and Sports Medicine publications.Since 2008, he has been appointed as visiting Professor in Sports Medicine at Leeds Metropolitan University. The diarrhoea however didn’t go away. I carried a backpack everywhere with my toilet essentials and had a mental map of decent loos in Melbourne. My joints and muscles hurt constantly and I felt as though I needed oiling in the mornings. My weight crept up. I was tired all the time. have just experienced the most fantastic, relaxing, holistic body massage... ever! I was so impressed by the write up in Here & now Magazine on Faye Scarborough and her holistic and beauty spa, Springs in Yeadon, that I immediately booked myself in for a full body massage. Being in desperate need of a bit of pampering and relaxation, I was actually unsure if Faye would be able to work her magic on me. My stress levels were through the roof, I constantly had a banging headache, my stomach was in knots and I wasn’t sleeping very well. eeds-based Yorkshire College of Beauty Therapy (YCOB) has further enhanced its already impressive International reputation by gaining a prestigious contract from the Social Development Center (SDC) which is part of the Qatar Foundation (QF) an organization responsible for leading the field in education. I am 59 years old and would like to take lump sum from my personal pension of approximately £40,000. How much am I allowed to take? Meridian, replies: You can take a maximum of 25% as a lump sum which is also tax free. So, given a personal pension pot of £40000, you can take up to £10,000 as cash but the remaining £30,000 must be used to provide an income for the rest of your life. Given your age, the annual amount is not going to be very great. You need to shop around and get the best deal available. The difference between the best and worst rates can be substantial, maybe as much as 30% to 40%. And of course, this is for rest of your life. When the time comes to convert a personal pension into an annuity it is important to remember you have the right to look beyond what you may be offered by the company you have been saving with. This is known as the open market option. Failure to exercise that right could reduce your income in retirement by a significant amount each week. Unfortunately, when you have made your choice you cannot go back later and switch to a company that would have paid you more at the outset.
I have three pensions through three companies I have worked for. I am up to date with two of them, but have lost contact with the third company, which I think is defunct. How can I find out what this pension might be worth? Meridian replies: Pension benefits from even short periods of employment can run into many thousands of pounds. The Department for Work and Pensions runs a tracing service, which is the best place to track down a former occupational pension. Call 0845 600 2537 or visit www.pensionsservice.gov.uk. I have found my old bank account book which has had £3.00 in it since 1984. Will the money have increased with interest and how can I claim it? Meridian replies: The process of tracking down forgotten savings has been greatly simplified since the launch of the website mylostaccount. org.uk. It offers a free tracing service for dormant accounts provided by the British Bankers’ Association, the Building Societies Association and National Savings and Investments. Together they represent most of the providers of savings and current accounts. The site will take you through the process in easy steps and, as you have the original share account book, tracing the money should be straightforward. There is a form you can download or if you prefer, you can ask to have a form sent in the post from one of the addresses in the online guide. As to whether your account will have grown, normally: ‘A dormant account continues to earn interest at the appropriate rate for the account and the funds within it remain the property of the customer no matter how many years pass.’ Beware of building up hopes of a windfall. The interest rate on the account has almost certainly been very low and despite 25 years of growth you’ll be lucky to see more than a fiver.

Do You Have What it Takes? “You too could be the next big star in the world of modelling! “ So say Matt Bates and Sean Hopwood, two local male models who have 20 years of experience between them working at the highest level of modelling, which has taken them all over the world on assignments. Matt Bates resigned from being a credit controller 15 years ago after being spotted in Leeds by an agent. Matt actually thought it was a joke at first. However, when he realised it was a serious approach, he went to see the agency and started working the next day, being paid £300 to model socks! There was no looking back from then on and Matt joined Nemesis in Manchester, a model agency owned by the manager of Take That. Matt needed to have some test shots done and was initially very nervous but enjoyed the experience and felt ready to take on the world of modelling. Work came thick and fast with assignments in Miami, Spain, Portugal, Germany, France, Italy, Dubai, Egypt, India and Canada. The diversity of each job has kept 15 years at the top end of modelling both challenging and fresh for Matt, who, as an aspiring footballer, relished his favourite job was playing football at La Manga for two weeks, modelling for the Umbro catalogue. “I felt like a pro!” he says. Matt’s first catwalk shows were for Ted Baker. He was really nervous but found it to be great fun. Matt is now signed to agencies all across the country and Europe and along the way has had help and advice from many models. Now it’s his turn to help the next generation.
Vogue Seminars As a youngster, Sean Hopwood never imagined making a career out of modelling. It all came about one normal day in Manchester when he was just doing the usual ‘having a wonder around town’, and was approached by a model scout who gave him a leaflet with some information about joining an agency. “So I thought, why not,” Sean says. “After 2 years of reasonable success with the agency, I thought it was time to really have a go at it. There was a competition I had heard about called ‘The Face of Manchester’, which I entered. After a month of voting, I reached the final, which was held at one of the most prestigious clubs in Manchester. The final was to be a fashion show judged by a panel of top agents in Manchester and FHM representatives. After the show, the models all gathered on the stage and a male and female winner were announced. To my amazement, I was the male winner - it was a fantastic moment. From this I gained a contract with a top agent in Manchester and enjoyed 5 years of success working in Manchester Fashion Week and high profile events such as the Bollywood Oscars. I also got modelling contracts with companies such as Harrods, Flannels, Harvey Nichols and Manchester United. I have had a great time over the last ten years whilst earning a good living and meeting some amazing people. The experience and knowledge of the industry I now have is vast.”

ello and a welcome to the Eccleshill Neighbourhood Policing Team, based at Javelin House, Eccleshill, (opposite Morrison’s). The team covers a large area of north eastern Bradford. More pertinent to you within the area, I am your local policing team Inspector and have responsibility for the Apperley Bridge and Greengates areas. I am supported by a team of sergeants, police officers and community support officers. We are committed to providing a quality of service which resolves issues within your areas. Whilst we would like to think that most problems can be resolved at a local level with all those involved talking the issues through, we along with our other partner agencies have the means to adopt alternative resolution strategies from mediation to enforcement. In line with the policing pledge point 3, (outlined below) we would like to hear your views and opinions about how we can assist in making the place you live a much more pleasant place to be. Also in line with point 7, I would like to draw your attention to two public contact points, local to your area where members of my team are highly visible and willing to hear your problems. Policing Pledge West Yorkshire Police will: 1. Always treat you fairly, with dignity and respect, ensuring that you have fair access to our services at a time that is reasonable and suitable for you. 2. Provide you with information about your dedicated Neighbourhood Policing Team. 3. Ensure your NPT and other police patrols are visible and on your patch at times when they will be most effective and when you tell us you most need them. We will ensure that your team are not taken away from neighbourhood business more than is absolutely necessary. They will spend at least 80% of their time visibly working in your neighbourhood, tackling your priorities. Staff turnover will be minimised. 4. Respond to every message directed to your NPT within 24 hours and where necessary, provide a more detailed response as soon as we can. 5. Aim to answer 999 calls within 10 seconds, deploying to emergencies immediately giving an estimated time of arrival, getting to you safely and as quickly as possible. We will aim to get to you within 15 minutes. 6. Answer all non-emergency calls promptly. If attendance is needed, send a patrol giving you an estimated time of arrival and: o If you are vulnerable or upset aim to be with you within 60 minutes. o If you are calling about an issue that we have agreed with your community will be a neighbourhood priority and attendance is required, we will aim to be with you within 60 minutes. o Alternatively, if appropriate, we will make an appointment to see you at a time that fits in with your life and within 48 hours. o If agreed that attendance is not necessary we will give you advice, answer your questions and/ or put you in touch with someone who can help. 7. Arrange public meetings to agree your priorities, at least once a month, giving you a chance to meet your local team with other members of your community. 8. Provide monthly updates on progress and on local crime and policing issues. This will include the provision of crime maps, information on specific crimes and what happened to those brought to justice, details of what action we and our partners are taking to make your neighbourhood safer and information on how your force is performing. 9. If you have been a victim of crime agree with you how often you would like to be kept informed of progress in your case and for how long. You have the right to be kept informed at least every month if you wish for as long as is reasonable. 10. Acknowledge any dissatisfaction with the service you have received within 24 hours of reporting it to us. To help us fully resolve the matter, discuss with you how it will be handled, give you an opportunity to talk in person to someone about your concerns and agree with you what will be done about them and how quickly.

he latest of our Pensioners’ Association trips was to Bowness in Windermere. Those of us who were to be picked up in Leeds gathered in the bus station to shelter from the rain. It seemed to be the crack of dawn to us, as being pensioners we are no longer accustomed to being up and about in the centre of Leeds just after 8.30am. After collecting the others in Seacroft, we went on our way on the coach, watching the black clouds gathering through the windows and the rain pouring down as we sped along. We’d been up so early that we got hungry, so we had some sandwiches and flasks of tea on the coach. When we reached Haverthwaite, the sky began to clear. We happily piled on to the steam train and enjoyed the short ride to Lakeside. Here, we watched the boat come in from down the lake. We were all pleased that the sun came out as we boarded the boat. Sitting on the top deck, we had excellent views as we cruised along, marvelling at the lovely gardens surrounding the lakeside homes. There were colourful displays of rhododendrons and azaleas in a variety of different hues. In front of the boat was a panorama of distant hills. We had a few spots of rain when we alighted in Bowness but it didn’t last long. We

were surrounded by more swans than we’d ever seen in one place. Most of them were strutting about on the pathways and grassy banks and I was surprised with how tall they are out of the water. Their feet looked like grey plastic toy feet. Jackdaws and black headed gulls also joined in the throng. We had a couple of hours of free time to do our own thing. Some headed for the shops and cafes but we went for a walk around the edge of the lake, admiring the views as we went along. The wind was quite gusty in parts. Then some of us went to see the Holehird Gardens and others remained in Bowness to explore at their leisure. The big house there had apparently been rented out for two summers by Beatrix Potter and her family in their day. The gardens were superb, with every imaginable variety of trees, shrubs and plants, all carefully labelled. A dedicated team of volunteers do an excellent job running the place. Our nostrils were filled with a strong earthy scent of plants and foliage and now and again we caught glimpses of distant lakes through the veil of trees and shrubs – very idyllic! We then went back to join the others in Bowness. On the journey home, we stopped at the Anchor Inn at Gargrave, where they had meal deals of two for £9.00 – just right for us pensioners and the food was really good. After being fed and watered, we boarded the coach to enjoy the scenic ride home. There was torrential rain in Leeds but we didn’t care after having enjoyed such a good day and we scattered to our various buses to go home.

hen Active Kids Day Nursery in Yeadon was opened in 2004, it was because of my concerns regarding childhood obesity and associated diseases like heart disease and diabetes. I never realised then how rewarding working with children was going to be, or how important a role childcare plays in the wider community. A lot of money has been spent by the government on training courses for childcare providers across the board. New guidance shows how children start their learning as babies and we shouldn’t miss any opportunity to teach them new things from the start. Children are all individuals and will learn at different rates but providing they receive a healthy diet, physical activities, lots of fresh air and a stimulating environment, they will have all they need to develop to their full potential. Some nurseries are more equipped to embrace this new thinking than others. Active Kids however is one nursery which is fully committed to providing our children with as many opportunities as we possibly can. Our open plan nursery means that the children are able to watch and learn from each other. They sit together at mealtimes, which make this more of a social occasion than just a time to eat, and our food is always home cooked meals with fruit snacks in between and water to drink at mealtimes and throughout the day. Milk is served at snack times. The open environment also ensures that children feel relaxed with staff from all areas of the nursery and not just their own key worker. This makes the move between different rooms much easier. Parents are able to enter the nursery and see their children at play at any time during the day. We also allow potential parents to view the nursery without making an appointment. This is
because we want parents to feel at ease with us and to know we have nothing to hide, and in order to keep things simple we include everything except formula milk within our fees. We have a lovely secure outdoor play area which is surrounded by trees and also indoor play area which we can use when the weather is too bad outside. We use both areas for activities which help children develop their bodies and their minds with such things as obstacle courses, climbing, swinging and crawling. We also just have fun with dance sessions and parachute games etc. The children learn to share and take turns from a young age, and also that we have rules which they must follow such as no running in nursery, lining up to go outside etc; this makes the atmosphere more calm and orderly and enjoyable for everyone. It also makes planning activities much easier when the children can behave properly. The Sky’s the Limit for Yorkshire Cancer Charity

Yorkshire cancer charity reached dizzying new heights in its fund-raising activities courtesy of national parachute freefall team, the Red Devils. For the Yorkshire Cancer Centre hosted its inaugural Gala in the glorious surrounds of Roundhay Park on Saturday, May 30, complete with a dazzling performance from the parachuting troop. Thousands of visitors attended the event, which also saw performances from the Star Wars Storm Troopers, musical entertainment and children’s funfair. The Lord Mayor elect of Leeds showed her support for the charity by making a special civic appearance on the day. All proceeds raised on the day will went to the Yorkshire Cancer Centre’s Appeal, which is aiming to raise £10million by 2010 to boost clinical research, buy the latest generation of medical equipment, and provide arts and garden projects to enhance the patient environment. Speaking of the Gala, Yorkshire Cancer Centre Appeal Director Sheila O’Shea said: “We are extremely excited about the Gala, drew a huge crowd and is always a great day out for all the family. “The Red Devil’s are absolutely fantastic – we are thrilled
that they are performing for us. There is so much to do on the day – we have a barbeque, trade stalls, beer tent, gymnast display, majorettes, and arts and crafts activities perfect for the children. Sheila added: “There is something for everyone at the Gala and even better it’s free to come along and support our cancer patients. o that’s it then. No more Saturdays and Tuesdays spent with friends on the terracing till next August. Well not unless you attend the pre season friendlies, and the ones earmarked for us are trips to the fine city of York on the 18th July along with the usual defeat at Farsley Celtic. So what do football fans do in the close season then? Holidays planned around the football season are of course a priority for us but apparently not as important in our house as that much needed decorating job in the lounge. Still a few days work scrapping and painting isn’t too much to ask is it for the 9 months or so we spend following our team. Close season for any Bradford City fan is becoming very comical at the moment as we are kept entertained by close neighbours L666s Utd who seem to always reach the play offs but never proceed any further. Hard luck lads and lasses he says with a snigger! Still shouldn’t criticise to much as our season went off the rails in February after straight wins against Grimsby, Gillingham and Wycombe. Then followed a 14 match run where we only managed two wins. So when all was lost and the play offs were all but impossible we went and won the last two. Still not to worry as a mass clear out begins at Valley Parade with players jumping on the transfer merry go round, hope some good ones jump off as it’s passing Bradford! However good or bad fans thought the season was it was great to see another youngster win the Player of the Year award with young left back Luke O’Brien collecting the trophy. The Shipley Bantams award was won by another youngster Dean Furman the South African on loan midfielder from Rangers. His award was The Stuart Hardy Memorial Trophy and was presented by Sharon Tavendale the niece of Stuart. The past season has been a good one for the Shipley Bantams apart from the sad death of one of our founder members
Stuart Hardy who was responsible for writing this column in the past. We managed to sponsor two players, Michael Boulding and Paul McLaren, also sponsoring a game at Valley Parade early in the season. The penultimate home game of the season against Lincoln brought together the two teams who were playing at Valley Parade on the fateful day of the fire in May 85. Both managers Peter Jackson and Stuart McCall were playing that day. A bucket collection was made prior to the game and raised £1307, which will go to the Bradford Burns Unit. Our own tribute took place at 11am on the 11th May 09 in Centenary Square when a Shipley Bantams member Gillian Minshull laid a wreath in honour of the 56 fans who perished that day. It is also remembered that the 20th anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster took place on the 15th April this year and whilst it differed in a lot of respects to the tragedy in Bradford it is a stark reminder that football is only a game and there are more important things in life, like life itself. So win, lose or draw we are the luck ones who live to see another game, of course that will all depend on whether the garden as been dug, or the walls have been papered. Roll on August the 8th and the first league game. Hope it’s at Torquay, just to think we got rid of that Exeter City and now face an even longer trek down the M6, M5 A30 corridor. Knowing our luck it’ll be on a Tuesday night in January and instead of the nagging about wallpaper, gardening and any other thing Mrs finds us to do in close season she’ll be nagging about taking 2 days off work and getting home at some silly time in the morning. Take care everyone and watch you don’t spill too much paint on the carpet, which of course according to her who knows nothing about football should have been taken up. Still she’ll be able to shop for another one now won’t she? Mmmm shopping, that’s another thing us footy fans hate.

Clubmark Gold Accreditation for Bradford clubs

radford Metropolitan District Council, West Yorkshire Sport and the RFL celebrated the RFL Clubmark Gold successes during Bradford Bulls Super league game against Leeds Rhino’s at the Grattan Stadium Odsal on Friday night. Clubmark Gold is part of the club accreditation scheme re launched by the RFL on April 1st 2009. The clubs were presented with their Certificate by the Sports Minister and Bradford MP Gerry Sutcliffe This is a significant achievement for three of Bradford Districts top Sports clubs BRADFORD BULLS, BRADFORD DUDLEY HILL and WIBSEY JUNIORS who become the one of the first Rugby League Clubs to achieve Clubmark Gold Status. 129 rugby league clubs across the country now have Clubmark status and 100 clubs are also registered on the scheme. Sport England Clubmark sets generic criteria for national governing bodies of sport to accredit their clubs against in order to create safe, effective, and child friendly environments. Clubs who achieve Clubmark Status are officially ‘rubber stamped’ as being a quality club, having all the right procedures, policies, action plans and coaches with relevant qualifications in place, ensuring the club has a ‘safe, effective and child friendly environment’, and are known as “A Quality Assured Rugby League Club”. Clubmark Gold is an enhanced level of achievement and continues to bring benefits such as promoting clubs within their communities, increased participation levels, developing coaches and volunteers at clubs, raising standards and receiving priority status with funding applications. A great initiative and well done to the Bullls, Dudley Hill and Wibsey juniors in achieving Clubmark Gold Status.

o sooner had the final whistle sounded the end of Leeds United’s unsuccessful League One campaign, than Elland Road chairman Ken Bates ushered in the 2009/2010 season. Leeds United suffered Play-Off semifinal heartbreak at the hands of Millwall, losing 2-1 on aggregate to the London club, but Bates and manager Simon Grayson were quick to turn their attentions to the forthcoming campaign. “Simon (Grayson) came in to see me afterwards and we went through every player on the books and what we want to do,” the Leeds chairman said. “I had a staff meeting first thing on Friday morning and I told them: ‘Last night has gone. We’re now planning for promotion next season, and that planning starts now. This is the first day of our title-winning season.’ “We had a traumatic season because for the second one in succession we had a change of manager which is always unsettling. But next season we start properly. We have a good manager, a good playing staff which will be strengthened and great fans. “We’re very lucky here. We have a passionate fan base, we have big plans for the club, and we’ve had a set-back. We are a year behind schedule, but we’ll put that right next season.” The manager was also looking ahead in positive and insists that his players should use their near-miss as inspiration next term. “In the end, we came up short against Millwall over two games but it wasn’t through lack of effort,” said Grayson. “It was a very quiet dressing room afterwards, but we have to use it as motivation. Some of them have been through it, but they’ll all stick together. “We don’t deserve to be in this league, but we are. Look at our fans. They were outstanding, and the reception at the end of the Millwall game meant so much. “We’ve fallen short, but we’ll be back. We’d love to be in the Championship, but we’re not and we’ll properly and we set our sights higher for next season.”
The manager has already drawn up his plans for the 2009/2010 season and his message to the players immediately after the final whistle was that automatic promotion will be the aim next term. “We have to start positively and make sure we get promoted,” he said. “It was difficult to take immediately afterwards, but we’ll use it as an inspiration to straight up. We’ll use the Millwall experience to be better and stronger and come back and win automatic promotion, never mind the Play-Offs. “I’m extremely proud of the players and the staff, and what they’ve done over the past few months. When we came in December anything could have happened. We could have dwindled away, but we galvanised them and we’ve lost two in 17. “If you have a run like that at this stage and you don’t get promoted you are probably very unlucky, but credit to them.” Both manager and chairman were also quick to praise the support of the Leeds. Over 37,000 turned out for the PlayOff semi-final – the highest Football League crowd of the season – and Leeds were afforded a standing ovation in defeat against Millwall. “The support was unbelievable yet again and I can’t thank them enough,” Grayson said. “The reception at the end meant a lot. Since the day I walked through the door in December the fans have been with us every step of the way. “I think the fans appreciate what we’ve done as a group, and that’s how we will do it next year by all sticking together as a group. The fans knew we’d had a go at it. The fans have been outstanding both at Elland Road and away, and I’m more disappointed that we couldn’t reward them, but we’ll all come back stronger.” The United chairman was also quick to praise what he described as “the best fans I’ve ever seen.” “I have nothing but praise for the
fans,” he added. “The players were given a standing ovation and to hear them chanting ‘There’s only one Simon Grayson’ was very encouraging as well. “I have to say these fans are the best I’ve ever seen in football. They’ve had nothing to celebrate, but they’ve been fantastic.”

ore than 50 local children have enjoyed a fun and active half term holiday on the Rhinos activity camp, which took place at Garforth Community College and was run by the Leeds Rhinos community team. Each of the four days were packed full with activities such as basketball, tag rugby, football, wrestling, dance with the Radio Aire Dance Team, rounders, cricket, treasure hunts, Rhino Slide and Rhino Ball, so there was something for each child to enjoy. Leeds Rhinos stars Ryan Hall, Danny McGuire and Paul McShane called into the camp to meet the children and pass on some of their expert tips. The visit was one of the highlights of the camp for many of the children who were able to get autographs and have their pictures taken with their heroes. On the final day of the camp the children took centre stage to compete for some Rhinos goodies in their very own talent competition ’Rhinos Got Talent’ with Rhinos Development officers Jonny Wainhouse, Gareth Cooke and Laura Clark taking on the roles of the judges. The Leeds Rhinos programme of camps for 2009 offers children the opportunity to take part in a variety of different healthy activities during the school holidays. All profits generated support the work of the Leeds Rugby Foundation. The camps have been designed exclusively for boys and girls from 7 to 17 and are suitable for a wide range of abilities. ighty girls from the LR Dance Academy got the chance of a lifetime to perform on the Headingley Carnegie pitch in front of thousands of fans before the Rhinos took on Hull on recently. The LR Dance Academy is run by the Leeds Rugby Foundation and led by Radio Aire Dance captains Nicola Booth and Amy Burrows. Over the last eight weeks, pupils aged between 6 and 15, have been attending classes every Monday, preparing for their very special performance. The dance was a big success with the crowd. Speaking afterwards, Rhinos Dance Captain Nicola Booth said she was really pleased with the young stars: “Over the last eight weeks, we have seen the girls who have attended the LR Dance Academy not only improve their dance skills but also build up their confidence to be able to perform the way they did on such a big stage.
It was amazing and we are really proud of all of them. Despite some of the youngest dancers being just six years old, they were not daunted by the massive crowd and each one of them performed fantastically and I think many of them will be pushing their way for a place in the Radio Aire Dance team in a few years time.” The LR Dance Academy is open to girls aged between 6 to 15 years and provides opportunities for children to have fun and meet new friends. It also provides routes for progression onto the Rhinos Dance Team. Dance Academy members also get access to a range of other befits including competitions and regular theatre trips with the Radio Aire Dance team. Classes are held on Monday night in the Carnegie Café Bar at Headingley Carnegie Stadium. The junior class (6-11 years) takes place between 6-7pm and the senior class (12-15 years) takes place between 7-8pm. Places are still available at £15 for six weeks. iant prop Kylie Leuluai, 31, has agreed a new two year contract with Super League champions Leeds Rhinos. The Samoan international joined the Rhinos at the start of the 2007 season and has been an integral part of the squad that has claimed back to back Championships in the past two seasons. Commenting on his new deal, the former Manly Sea Eagles front rower said: “I am really happy to have signed the new deal because I believe that this is the best club in the competition to be playing with. There was never any thought in my mind about moving to another club. Why would you want to play for anyone other than Leeds? This is a successful club to be part of and I am looking forward to the next two years very much. “My son Marley has just started school and my wife and I love living in Leeds so everything is right, both on and off the field,” added Leuluai. Head Coach Brian McClennan expressed his delight at the news of Leuluai’s new contract: “It is great news. Kylie is a good man who has already been involved in some successes with the club and we hope there is more to come. He is very important on and off the field for us. On the field he offers us steel and toughness on defence and over the past few years he has developed his attacking game as well. Off the field, he is so good around the boys and his wife and son are really part of the family here at the Rhinos.”
