Ilkley Summer Festival, (events throughout) August The Festival will launch with The Declaration for Yorkshire Day announced. There will then be a unique parade of over 100 Classic and Vintage Cars which will line up on The Grove. With an accompanying Jazz band and food and drink stalls it is sure to be a star attraction of week 1. Week 2 will host the very popular continental market which will return for three days. Week 3 will be celebrating VE Day including Dominic Halpin and the Honey Bees bringing swing from the 40’s up to the present day…… with alfresco dining on The Grove. new alehouse, a Bavarian Bierkeller, Tiki cocktail den and state-of-the-art nightclub will be housed in key historic buildings on Randell Well Street, alongside the famous Alhambra Theatre. The main building was originally the Royal Old Windsor Baths. Between them, the ventures will bring another 80 new jobs to Bradford, both full and part time. Opening in the middle of August will be the Stein Bierkeller. This venue will be an authentic Bavarian Wonderland, complete with oompah bands, steins of Bavarian draught beers plus a wide selection of world bottle beers, complemented with typical Bier Keller snacks like Brockwurst, Frankfurters, and pretzels. Later in August will be the opening of The Brew Haus, a traditional drinking establishment, serving craft beers and hand-crafted cocktails by the award-winning Liquorists of Manchester, plus a wide range of world beers, gins, whiskeys, and rums. Ingredients will be sourced from local farms and butchers to create the venue’s fresh food menu. The Brew Haus will specialise in artisan pizza and champion butchers’ pies. A hidden gem of Brew Haus will be the secret rooftop garden where revellers can spend summer evenings enjoying stunning views across the city centre. Also opening towards the end of the month will be Tiki-O,

a Polynesian cocktail hideaway, and Circle, a state-of-the-art nightclub. Tiki-O Bradford will be a frivolous Polynesianinspired party venue with full Tiki décor - complete with Tiki heads, Tiki huts and lots of authentic bamboo. The experience will revolve around Tiki-inspired cocktails, fire, dry ice and theatre from the ‘craziest bar tenders in the north’! The Tiki-O soundtrack will be non-stop party tunes throughout the night. Fronting onto the venues will be relaxed outdoor seating areas, adding to the city centre’s growing continental-style café culture which is already taking shape alongside City Park and in the Independent Quarter around North Parade. Alex Thompson, Senior General Manager of The Brew Haus said: “We’re all really buzzing about getting involved in the Bradford nightlife revival. It’s clearly the right place to be opening new venues – and the right time, getting in at the start of a new era. A weekend of beer, food and music has been brewed up in Bradford to celebrate this year’s Yorkshire Day. The Yorkshire Day Beer and Food festival, takes place at Bradford Brewery off Westgate, Bradford, on Saturday and Sunday August 1st and 2nd – with lots of fun, and hopefully sun - in the beer garden. The festival will feature a choice of 50 Yorkshire Beers and a Yorkshire Cider Bar, as well as the unveiling of Northern Powerhouse, a first-ever collaboration brew between Bradford Brewery and Leeds Brewery to mark the auspicious occasion. The revelry goes on from 11am to midnight on the Saturday and from 11am until the bottoms of the barrels are seen on Sunday. With Bradford Brewery’s iconic logo being the city’s emblem, the Bradford Boar, the legendary creature’s demise will be celebrated with a boar roast in the beer garden. There will also be a selection of locally-made vegetarian street food served in the bar as a brief diversion from the usual pie and mash menu. 12

There will live music throughout the weekend with buskers and local musicians invited to drop in and play. Quite a few local artists are confirmed already including Darren Ellis, Rosa Sargent, Lucas Watt, Danny Aspinall, Vanessa Maria Ndukuba, Izak Wilkinson, left-field folk band Weave and traditional blues boy Sleepy Jake Seagrave. Saturday night’s highlight is Bradford’s No Hands DJs with Sunday offering a more laid-back mellow acoustic theme, featuring Lazing on a Sunday Afternoon - a DJ set from Shipley’s very own Front Room Disco DJ Will Oddsox, blending jazz, easy listening, reggae, and electronica. Says Wil: “Where else will you get Louis Armstrong and The Orb in the same set”! Bradford Brewery boss Matt Halliday said: “We’re proud Bradfordians and Yorkshire folk, and this is our first-ever Yorkshire Day since opening in February. So we wanted to celebrate in big style with Yorkshire beers, ‘sort of’ Yorkshire multicultural street food and home-grown Yorkshire talent. How good does it get?” The event will form a central part of the celebrations taking place across Bradford’s Independent Quarter over the Yorkshire Day weekend which also includes a North Parade street party. SALTAIRE FESTIVAL FILLS THE STREETS

he Saltaire Festival occurs each September, the festival was founded in 2003 to celebrate 200 years since the birth of Titus Salt and the 150th anniversary since he created Saltaire. It now occurs every year for a week in September, culminating in the final weekend where a street party and various outdoor events take place. The ten days of celebrations are full of all kinds of activities, events and shows with something for everyone old and young. There are always a

number of events being hosted specifically for the younger members of the family. The Saltaire Festival has so much to offer â&#x20AC;&#x201C; with numerous food festivals, exhibitions, arts and crafts as well as dance and film. Bingley Local Produce Market The next Bingley Local Produce Market will be on Saturday 19 September, between 10am and 3pm on Bingley’s Town Square. The market is organised by Bradford Council and compliments the existing open market,which takes place each Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. The Local Produce Market will be held every third Saturday of the month. Products at the market will include award-winning pork pies from the Little Yorkshire Pie Company, a selection of cheeses from Kevin the cheesemonger at Cheese, Cheese, Cheese, as well as a variety of homemade pickles, fresh vegetables, olives, eggs, handmade chocolates, biscotti biscuits made in Bingley and a range of local honeys from Chris and his bees at Stickey’s.
