Two under-arm gores are needed for all persons when the bottom of arms eye line is over eleven inches. In any case where you put in two under-arm gores always add the width of the piece from the back dart to the under-arm seam at the waist and the width of the under-arm gore at the waist together when added, then divide the full amount by three and you have the width of the piece from the back dart to the under-arm seam, also the width of both underarm gores at the waist. For an illustration, suppose the piece from the back dart to the under-arm seam is four and eye line is over ten inches,

a half inches and the under-arm gore at the waist

nine inches. Well,

also

we add them together we have

we divide 9 by 3,

it-gives us three inches

each of the three pieces at the waist. In this way we get the extra goods at the waist to make two under-arm gores. Now if we want to put in an extra side form we will have to take two inches from the full amount, whatever it may be, before we divide it, then divide the balanceThe two inches taken away is the two inches we need at the waist, in the extra side form.
