PERSPECTIVE FOR ARTISTS – Ralph Papa For all levels September 9th, 2014 Tuesday, 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. / Studio #3 / Fee: $165 In this one day workshop, artists at all levels will better understand and be able to master perspective in their drawings. your instructor will guide you in creating drawings that accurately depict how we actually see from our eye’s perspective. Specially designed demonstrations and exercises will include step-by-step drawings of scenes in perspective using inside and outside views with objects and people in natural and man-made environments. PENCIL MAGIC – Sid Delmar Leach For all levels October 21, 2014 February 10, 2015 Tuesday, 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. / Studio #2 / Fee: $165 The pencil is something everyone has and can use to good advantage to capture images onto paper or illustration board. The advantage of using a pencil is that many values can be created in a drawing by the pressure of the pencil, how it is sharpened and the hardness of the lead that goes into the make-up of any pencil. Art pencils are available from very soft to very hard with softest creating darker values. In this workshop you will be given line drawings along with value studies of the images and the pencils you will need for your exercise. you will learn to sharpen a pencil so it can act as your brush in the creation of your own fine pencil drawing. you will not have to know how to create the perspective drawing because this has been done for you. The magic of creating images with an ordinary pencil will hopefully excite the artistic creativity in each workshop participant. All materials are included. CREATIVITY AND STYLE FOR ARTISTS – Ralph Papa For Intermediate and Advanced Artists January 9, 2015 Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. / Studio #2 / Fee: $165 A one day workshop designed to increase the creativity and style of visual artists. This workshop is ideal for intermediate and advanced artists that can already draw and paint accurately from pictures or life, but find that their work lacks a style or statement. your instructor, Ralph Papa, states; “Outstanding art comes from artists who not only have the skills of their craft, but their work is unique and identifiable and accurately reflects who they are. This workshop includes a review of your current body of work and exercises geared to increase creativity and develop your individual style.
PAINTING COLOR AND LIGHT IN WATERCOLORS with Steve Rogers October 17,18,19, 2014 Studio #2 / Fee: $300 “In this workshop I will give students the tools to create painterly and believable watercolors; but more importantly, I seek to take them beyond merely “copying” their subject. An artist needs to also paint from his heart and seek to communicate the emotional and spiritual beauty of God’s creation.” I paint and teach in a very straightforward traditional manner because I believe I can most honestly say what I want to with my brush and juicy watercolor paint. workshop participants will learn about light and color and the way watercolor behaves, dealing with dark values in watercolor, painting reflections and much, much more. The goal of my workshop is to encourage each artist to advance his or her own vision and to improve the skills necessary to communicate that in watercolor. I have enjoyed teaching watercolor for over 30 years and both my students and I have a lot of fun during the workshop.” Steve paints mini demos and full paintings and there is plenty of student painting time and personal help available every day. STEVE ROGERS (watercolorsbyrogers.com) was the National watercolor Society Purchase Award winner “Best of Show” at the 2006 NwS Annual Juried Exhibition. Steve’s paintings have won hundreds of awards in juried competitions including four awards in the American watercolor Society Annual International Exhibitions. Steve is a Signature Member of the American watercolor Society and an Ambassador/ Director of AwS and a Signature Member of the National watercolor Society. Visiting Artist, Steve Rogers He was the National Invited Juror for the AwS Annual Exhibition in 2007 and served on the jury of selection. MEETUP GROUPS Meetup.com/Art-Out-of-School Organized and maintained by School of Creative Arts staff at Delray Beach Center for the Arts. Our purpose is to reach out to those whose passion is drawing, painting and/ or photography to help you explore your creative potential. Our mission is to create opportunities for beginner through master level artists to network, share ideas and expand their knowledge. Many of our members are teaching or are enrolled in classes at the School of Creative Arts, but this is not a requirement for membership in the group. We look forward to having you join us, meet some new friends and have fun! Meetup.com/Photography-The-Art-of-Seeing Organized and maintained independently by Jim Miller, Russell Levine and Irene Hill. Welcome to our group of creative and talented photographers. Our mission is to help you explore your photographic potential, and to spread the passion for the “art of seeing” to others so that they may use the camera as an artistic tool, much as painters use their brushes. We welcome all those, regardless of experience, with an interest in advancing their photographic skills. Many of our members attend Fine Art Photography Classes at the School of Creative Arts, but this is certainly not a requirement for membership in the group. Meetup.com/palmbeachartists Organized and maintained independently by Donna Walsh and Ralph Papa. This meetup group is for art lovers and artists at all levels who love plein air painting in and around Palm Beach County and the surrounding South Florida vicinity. The group was organized by Ralph Papa & Donna Walsh in 2010 to bring artists together to paint the land, sea and city scapes in beautiful south Florida. We welcome resident artists and visiting artists at all levels to come out with us to paint and document today’s landscapes that contribute to tomorrow’s history. Meetup.com/South-Florida-Figure-and-Outdoor-Artists Organized and maintained independently by Santiago Perez. This group of visual artists has a deep passion in figurative drawing and painting as well as Plein Air/ outdoor painting of landscapes and urbanscapes. Meetup intentions are to bring the artist community out and make new friends. Let’s work together and strengthen our skills while we draw, paint and talk. Focus is on representational art with an emphasis on realism/pseudo-realism /surrealism. All levels welcome and bring creative ideas out of the box but with boundaries that keep the art an upper level of beauty. Also contemplate on current, past and upcoming trends and how we as artists feel and cope with them. Together we feed each other’s creative hunger as well as make things happen in the arts!
