Edith R. Dixon Field • Home of the Pride
Widener’s women’s lacrosse and field hockey teams play their home games at Edith R. Dixon Field, which opened in 2005 and became home to our women’s lacrosse team in 2006. Equipped with artificial turf, lights and a scoreboard, the field is easily accessible for fans and students to watch the Pride. The field also serves as home for our intramural squads.
Widener University’s Women’s Lacrosse team would like to give a special thanks to all our sponsors for your continued support of the program.

PREVIEW Widener women’s lacrosse team certainly has taken some huge steps the last few years in the quest for its first conference title. Many key players with conference tournament experience return to the fold in hopes of giving the Pride another boost toward their ultimate goal. Senior Linda Salcedo started every contest last season in goal for the second consecutive year and made a huge impact. Her exciting play and ability to make clutch saves helped her end fourth in the Middle Atlantic Conference with 8.35 saves per game. Senior Jen Harnden has been a valuable player on attack with her great shot and alertness at all times. She has scored at least 24 goals in each of her three seasons and enters this year fourth in school history with 58 assists. Senior Anna Geeter might have been bit by the injury bug last season, but her play as a freshman and sophomore proves she is a vital part to the team. A quality midfielder with great leadership skills, she was one of the Pride’s elite in 2009 and 2010 in both ground balls and draw controls. Rachel Porter is one many opponents will have to keep their eyes on at attack. A fearless shooter and one who is more than capable of scoring clutch goals at any time, the senior led the team with 68 points and 25 assists a season ago in addition to finishing second with 43 goals. Junior Julia Costello returns at midfield looking to provide more strong play. One of seven on last year’s squad to start all 17 games for the Pride, the Brookhaven native finished third on the team with 27 goals, 14 assists and 41 points. Sophomore Amy Albano made the most of her debut last season with plenty of scoring touch and alertness on draws. She closed fifth on the team with 18 goals, tied for fourth with 12 assists and fifth with 30 points. The defense gets a huge lift with the return of junior Sarah Hollywood. One of the Pride’s more aggressive players and a great leader, she possesses the ability to change the game at any point. Hollywood closed fourth on the team last season with 28 ground balls. Junior Nicole Kumor also returns to help a formidable defense after posting 10 caused turnovers and 19 ground balls last season. Junior Laura Kalbach, and sophomores Liz Glassman and Danielle LaVallee all look to be keys at midfield and junior Rochelle Retirado hopes to do the same on defense. The Pride welcome nine newcomers this season in freshmen Megan Dunn, Angie Goff, Mackenzie Lindquist, Melissa Sailey, Megan Granata, Pinky Schneider, Megan Capobianco, Kayla Parks and Martha Lowitz. Widener begins its season March 1 at home against Muhlenberg. Play in the new-look Commonwealth Conference (see page 10) opens April 5 at Albright and closes April 28 at Elizabethtown. The league’s top four teams compete in the conference tournament May 2-5.
