ego system by poliform/giuseppe bavuso
Ego System, designed by Giuseppe Bavuso for Poliform, is a range of walk-in wardrobes and storage units for the sleeping area. It stands out for its lightness and original appearance, transparency being interpreted as a distinguishing feature of the room settings, with new style opportunities, where the interior of the wardrobe means the key ingredient. Pure geometry for the ultimate rigour, the frame, based on ultrathin aluminium edges, allowing emphasis to be placed on glass and its several finishes.

FAIR
FAIR
From January 16 to January 22, 2012, Passagen – the longed-for event focused on trends in design in general and interior decoration in particular – will take place in beautiful Cologne for the 23rd time. Once again exhibitions will be staged in Cologne showrooms, galleries, furniture stores, cultural institutions, museums and universities. With over 150,000 design professionals and over 190 shows, what is now defined as the international design Mecca (though temporary) will unleash all the power of the international design scene and its protagonists: international designers and manufacturers, newcomers, design institutions, universities, architects, media, dealers and agents. “Magnets” are the Belgisches Viertel neighbourhood, the creative quarter Ehrenfeld, the “furniture mile” on the Ring boulevard and the Rheinauhafen harbour area. The 5th edition of the event “Design Parcours Ehrenfeld” is even bigger, and the successful trade show, Designers Fair, has now joined DQE in the “new centre” of Ehrenfeld – the hip Helios complex, where Passagen is presenting the newly formed University Forum at artrmx. In conjunction with Passagen, the Cologne Music Week is a guest at Ehrenfeld’s many venues. During the design week, namely on Tuesday, January 17, the legendary “cocktail route” is staged in the Belgisches Viertel neighbourhood and the new hot spots in the design quarter Ehrenfeld. As usual, Passagen will end with the closing events, on Sunday, January 22.

Antonio Lupi is a Tuscan-based company which has been playing a leading role in the Italian and international bathroom furniture markets for sixty years. In February 2011, the extremely dynamic and ever-growing
Italian brand opened its first German single-brand shop in Munich, in collaboration with the manager of DASBADSTUDIO, Martina Naegeli, who has long been designing and developing bathroom solutions. Antonio Lupi’s new single-brand store, which covers an area of 150 square metres, is located in Frauenstrasse 30, in the heart of the city, just a few metres from the market, in a recently built period style building. The showroom looks very bright as the result of its corner location and many windows overlooking the street. For the floors, they used wood obtained from ancient trees, which allowed extralarge boards (8 metres in length and 80 cm in width) to be available. The mounting project and layout were developed by the company’s art director, Andrea Lupi, and the in-house design studio. As a result, the showroom is absolutely faithful to, and consistent with, the corporate image of the brand. The interior accommodates all the latest, accurately arranged items of Antonio Lupi’s large collection.

Furla rafforza la propria presenza in Germania FURLA FURTHER PENETRATES THE GERMAN MARKET
The Furla group, whose high-quality, simply elegant bags, footwear and accessories are strictly made in Italy and distributed worldwide, is very active in the strategic German market, with 15 corners, located in the main department stores and in airports, and no less than four single-brand sales points, in Düsseldorf, Munich, Trier and Baden Baden (the showroom in the well-known spa town was opened very recently). Just some time after the latest shop was opened in Baden Baden, according to a comprehensive plan for opening boutiques and renovating the existing ones, Furla embarked on a new project, based on the reopening of Munich’s concept store, located in pedestrian Theatinerstrasse. The shop was entirely renovated, on the basis of a new concept of minimal luxury, synonymous with bright locations and furniture. The renovated concept store covers an area of 80 square metres and has a large window overlooking the street. Inside you can enjoy the unique atmosphere of Furla’s shops worldwide, linearity and softness perfectly harmonizing with each other. The floor is made of elegant glossy black lacquered resin which contrasts with the white walls, spaced out by large backlit wallpapers which enhance the products; these stand on ultrabright Plexiglas display counters and on birch shelves and side tables with back lacquered metal parts. The location looks both functional and cosy; each detail has been designed to harmoniously display a variety of products, including bags and small leather goods, footwear and sunglasses, jewels and watches. In the boutique, the special capsule collection by the young designers of the Furla Talent Hub project stands out in a designated area.

The new edition of Maison&Objet includes a number of major meeting and exchange moments, side events and competitions. Let us list a few of them:
TALENTS À LA CARTE
Hall 7 hosts the thematic exhibition on young Japanese designers, “Talents à la Carte”. After celebrating the Japanese avant-garde in September, the organizers of the fair have assigned Armand Hadida (the founder and artistic director of L’Eclaireur) the task of selecting the winners of this edition of the exhibition.
THE GREEN LINE (PARCOURS FIL VERT)
An itinerary, a global movement launched by Maison&Objet, aimed at finding the exhibitors who are committed to sustainable development, which was the reason for choosing the name “Fil Vert”. An expert “jury/partner” guarantees a rightful, independent approach. Starting from this edition, Maison & Objet offers a dedicated sign system for each exhibitor selected by the judging panel. The services and side events of Maison&Objet 2012 include the following:
CONFERENCES
Hall 5B hosts an interesting series of 4 conferences with the focus on creativity in Paris. They mean major meeting and meditation opportunities in relation to themes connected with creativity in the French capital.

L’ESPACE RETAIL. HALL 5B
Hall 5B also accommodates “L’Espace Retail”, an area conceived by Maison & Objet and devoted to the new shopfitting solutions. Launched in conjunction with the September edition of the fair, in the form of an educational exhibition, L’Espace Retail is back in partnership with the AKDV agency, with fresh ideas to reinvent sales points and appeal to customers. The focus is on sixteen different ways of enhancing one’s shop and products, according to one’s identity, or opening up to the new technologies that are revolutionizing the approach to selling and promoting one’s products. The method used to create the area is illustrated in a second part, where you can exchange views with experts in interior layouts. MatériO is the independent professional service for monitoring innovation relating to materials and technologies. At Hall 5B, MatériO displays innovations resulting in countless application opportunities. No doubt stress should be laid on “Paris des Chefs”, which is aimed at staging new synergies between the art of cooking and the different fields of creation. The event, organized by SAFI, within the international Maison&Objet exhibition, is being held for the fourth time – this year from January 22 to January 24, at Mutualité, in the heart of Paris (the previous editions were organized in the Paris Nord Villepinte fairgrounds). Surcanape’ arte & tessuti SURCANAPE’ ART & FABRICS
The exhibition Maison & Objet, which is being staged in Paris from January 20 to January 24, will be held in conjunction with DÊco Off, a major event which gathers together a large number of textile editors to display their collections at their showrooms or in temporary stores. The time-honoured Italian-based textile editor, Surcanape’, will also join in, to show its latest items at the prestigious Catherine Houard art gallery. Art and fabrics will make a perfect match, an invisible common thread running through The Hilton Brothers (artists exhibiting their works simultaneously) and the research conducted by the Surcanape’ designers on textile decoration over the last few years. Such research is evocative of inner worlds where the product does not emphasize excess decoration, while giving new expressive power to contemporary interior decoration, harmonizing the past with the future, in products synonymous with both tradition and balance, which are also to be found in the works by The Hilton Brothers, where the past is processed and interpreted according to a modern approach.
