The Beanery Coffee Shop: Greetings DeBordieu Members, I would like to introduce you to our newest addition here at the Club. Recently we opened the Beanery Coffee Shop at the Clubhouse. We proudly serve Starbucks coffee there. It is located on the first floor of the Clubhouse at the end of Bonnyneck Drive where Dori’s Office used to be. Dori is now located on the third floor in the administrative offices. We offer everything from Starbuck’s blended espresso beverages, Frappuccino’s, Refresher’s & Teavana. For the Fall we have added all of your favorite Pumpkin Spice Beverages as well as a new one to Starbuck’s this year, the Apple Crisp Macchiato. When the winter months arrive, we will be offering the full Starbuck’s line of Holiday Beverages as well. Recently, Megan Churchill joined the team as our new Pasty Chef. Daily she is preparing fresh pastries and desserts for your enjoyment. In particular, the cakepops have become a quick favorite. We also offer some select cold beverages, snacks & frozen treats in convenient coolers. The Sausage Biscuit you have come to enjoy at the Turn Room is also available at The Beanery. As we move into the winter months, we will be working to keep basic staples available in the coolers for a quick pick up. We look forward to serving you soon!

Tips for Improving Pace of Play As the volume of play on the course has increased significantly over the last year and a half, it is important to remember DeBordieu’s pace of play policy.
Tip from the Pro Matt Williams, PGA Director of Golf
Pace of play should always be 4 hours or less for 18 holes when riding the fairways, and 4 ½ hours or less when cart path only. It is proper etiquette to allow faster groups to play through when the course is not stacked up in front of your group. The professional staff has the right to require a slow group to allow groups to play through or even move groups that cannot keep an acceptable pace. Below you will find tips to self- monitor your pace of play while on the course so that everyone has an enjoyable experience. Thank you, Matt Williams, PGA 1. Choose a set of tees appropriate to your skill level. 2. Play “ready golf ”. Hit when ready rather than waiting on who is away. 3. While walking or riding to your ball be thinking about which club you will use and bring 2 or 3 clubs so you know you are covered should the wind change. 4. When sharing a cart don’t wait for the first player to hit, then head to the second ball. Instead, drop the first player off at his ball, drive ahead to the second ball. Then the first player can walk over to the cart as the second player is playing his shot. 5. When unsure if the ball may be out of bounds or lost, immediately hit a provisional ball. 6. Begin reading and lining up your putt immediately upon arriving to the green. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 7. Write down your score and return your clubs to your bag at the next tee instead of beside the green. 8. Use the groups ahead and behind you to gauge your pace of play. If the group that teed off directly in front of you is more than a 1/2 a hole’s distance ahead of your group, you need to speed up. If there’s no one in front of you holding you up, but you are holding up those behind you, either speed up or allow the trailing group to play through.
Blue Heron Men’s Member-Guest Results The 34th Annual Blue Heron Men’s Member-Guest was a long time coming with the event last being played in June of 2019. The excitement could be felt by all players and staff to have the tournament back! The tournament got off to a shaky start with Thursday’s practice rounds shortened by rain, however, the skies opened up just in time for the participants to enjoy the skills competitions, wonderful food, and comradery on Thursday evening. Friday and Saturdays play was highlighted by incredible weather, a golf course that was in fantastic shape, and great competition. In the final play off, Brian Blair and Chip Abernethy bested the team of Marion Moore and Colin Weaver to win the tournament and take home the coveted Blue Heron Trophies! Thank you to all who participated in this year’s event, and a special thank you to the Tournament Chairmen, Johnny Rowell and Joe Thompson for their guidance in making the 2021 Blue Heron Men’s Member-Guest a great success. Congratulations to the Champions and all of the Flight winners! 2021 Blue Heron Men’s Member - Guest Champions
