These functions are aimed at architects, interior designers, specifiers, hospitality buyers, corporate procurement, product designers, property developers, building contractors and media. All key industry players will be invited to connect, learn and keep the design industry moving forward. We will be celebrating 29 years next year and can’t wait to be hosting all of you at the live exhibitions once again! For our 29th year the theme we have chosen has been drawn from lifestyle and design trends across the globe. The New Natural is a celebration of design - creating environments anchored in multi-sensory experiences and the integration of elements such as organic shapes, natural materials, plants, fresh air, daylight or water features. Over the last year, the role of the home has changed. With the global outbreak of COVID-19 and the social-distancing and self-isolation restrictions that are now in place, being at home more often, it has become the new reality. We hope you enjoy this edition of Design Edit and are inspired by all the Trend Talks and networking functions. See you next year!

Foreword Decorex Virtual 2021 – Carol Weaving

It is with much excitement and pride that I look forward to the trends, visual gems and designers’ unique input that have made Decorex a success time and again. Most impressive, given the on-again, off-again issues the pandemic brought, is the highly innovative way the Decorex Africa team has risen to every challenge to create our online store, virtual participation sessions and opportunities for the industry to bring creativity to the fore. From 21 – 23 September 2021, Decorex Virtual held valuable and insightful online events, marking the start of some important networking functions that will take place throughout October and November. RX Africa has worked throughout the last 18 months to ensure we provide a platform to keep our industry connected, even against the odds. All Decorex Virtual events held in September are now a mere click away. To watch the podcasts held go to: d e s i g n / CONNECT 21 So, while we look forward to our amazing in-person, spectacular shows again in 2022, we thank our teams for their endless patience and agility in pivoting when the pandemic demanded. Importantly, we extend a warm welcome to those who will attend Decorex Virtual from 21 -23 October, knowing that when the post-pandemic uncertainty is just a memory, we will all want to say, “I was there – virtually - in ’21...”

Quintessentially

A frican aesthetic

Mash.T designs are a result of passion for working with artisans that have mastered traditional skills such as weaving and beading.

d e s i g n / EDIT Magazine | Joburg Edition 2021

Say hi to Alfred’s Light, our new line of telewire pendants. At Mash.T we love to collaborate, and for these beauties they have teamed up with Elizabeth Joubert of Tin Lab designs and renowned telewire weaver, Alfred Ntuli. We’ve long had their eye on the craft of telewire weaving, and are thrilled to finally showcase this artform in their product range. In the late 1960s, Zulu night watchmen started weaving scraps of telephone wire around their traditional sticks. The practice became popular among Zulu communities, and today there is great innovation and creativity in the use of this medium. Alfred Ntuli is best known for his diamond-patterned, traditionally shaped pots with lids. They were so grateful that bab’ Alfred agreed to work with them, as these designs saw quite a deviation from his usual work. Not only are these pendants on a larger scale, but they also bring in more pattern than his usual, restrained aesthetic. Alfred not only rose to the challenge, but exceeded it. As usual, nothing we do is ever just a single person’s efforts. From the management team at Bambizulu, who connected them with bab’ Alfred, to the artisans at African Art Centre, who helped produce the pendants, and their collaborator, Elizabeth Joubert, whose idea it was to create a telewire pendant, the final product is a community effort - a result of everyone’s hearts and skills coming together. Big news in the Mash.T Design Studio: their new website is live! They are always trying to make Mash.T more accessible, and, creating an e-commerce store was a great way of doing this. Firstly, they don’t want you to have to jump through hoops to buy our products, and now you can easily shop otheir products online. But perhaps more importantly, they wanted to be able to introduce you to their studio and to the artisans theycollaborate with. They are hoping that now, because you can meet the team on their website, when you interact with them on social media, send them an email or see a product image in your favourite publication, you’ll know that there are real people behind the products. Please pop in and say hi at their new online home. Shop Alfred’s Light here.

d e s i g n / EDIT Magazine | Joburg Edition 2021

HOMECOMING - The Collection began during the long anddifficult Covid-19 lockdown in 2020 whilst we were all workingfrom home. During that time home became so much more toall of us and in the uncertainty of a world epidemic, ourhomes and the people we were with became synonymouswith the idea of ease, refuge & safety. The lockdown not only allowed us to see and imagine ourhomes as places of work & play, but as we all shared theexperiences we had on social media, we got to see more intopeoples lives and homes. From the varying architecturaldetails to the different ways we all live, these differences helped us discover the things that make our homes and theuniversal idea of home the same. What we all truly want andneed from our homes is that feeling of safety, comfort andultimately belonging. The collection began with our Akaya lounge chair and thereafter evolved to include sculptural lights with delicate details, as well as organic shaped ceramics & candles, The collection showcases comfort with soft seating in the form of a generous couch and architecturally inspired ottoman, as well as a modern take on an old school quilt and a beautifully crafted mirror that blurs the line between art and function HOME IS WHERE YOU CAN BEGIN AGAIN www.theurbanative.com

Loft lines. Relaxed and effortless, maximising natural lighting through oversized arched windows, high ceilings and open space, The Victorian Bathrooms Loft Style bathroom is a subtle blend of forms and finishes, reminiscent of lofts found in downtown Manhattan. Aged brass taps stand out against the cool, neutral tones of the terrazzo flooring and marble shower walls whilst the 2.6m high glass shower panel, finished to match the aged brass of the tapware, accentuates the loft expanse. A blend of tones, textures, and fluted panels bring a warm and homey feel to an otherwise cool space. A bold basin with a soft touch. Borrowing its name from this urban area, the centerpiece, the Manhattan Double Basin adds industrial texture softened by the gentle curves of the matt white basin. The shape is repeated in the mirrors, the bath, and the ottoman in the centre of the bathroom. Aged before beauty. Our new Arte Collection of tapware is a contemporary take on the 1920’s geometric and cubic styles, however when refinished in Aged Brass it takes on a whole new personality, perfect for the Manhattan Loft style. Aged Brass is a living finish in that the natural aging process of the brass will continue to react with the environment and with daily use. To achieve this, the chrome is stripped down to the raw brass which is subsequently oxidised and blackened to speed up the aging process, resulting in a medium brown hue with golden burnt undertones.

Bespoke accessories for design continuity. Continuing the ‘Aged Brass’ theme the Verona wall lights and the accessories in the shower were refinished to match, as was the shower waste and toilet cistern flushplates. Even the mirror frames were refinished in an ‘Aged Brass’ effect. The ottoman in the centre of the bathroom adds a comfortable spot on which to place one’s towel or gown. And lastly, the use of plenty of plants bringing the outdoors indoors. Strategically placed succulents framed in our exclusive glassware range enhance the masculinity of this style whilst lending a natural element to the space. 19 |

Architects

and Design

by THEO BOTHMA

Every so often a designer or architect comes along whose unique style makes a statement to such an extent that you can’t help but take notice. One such person is Theo Bothma, who is both an architect as well as an interior designer and founder of TBAD architects and designers.

26 |

d e s i g n / EDIT Magazine | Joburg Edition 2021

Specialising in high-end homes, his style of architecture reveals a passion and thorough understanding of materials, which he combines to create a unique aesthetic that is both visually stimulating as well as integrating seamlessly with the surrounding nature. This is something many try to achieve, but Theo seems to continually get this right while still experimenting and pushing the boundaries of modern design. His methodology is to create a balance between all aspects of a home which takes both the surrounding landscaping as well as the interior into consideration. One of the most critical aspects of the modern home is lighting, both natural and artificial. This is something which is often overlooked in the built environment. Theo studies each area in great detail to ensure there is a flow of natural light and moods which define each interior space, and this is achieved through electrical lighting. A home needs to suit the owners’ current lifestyle as well as their future aspirations, and this is where Theo’s human-centred approach comes to the fore. He ensures that he understands how the client lives, works and entertains. It is essential that an interior space has distinct focal points which catch the attention and set the mood for the rest of the space. Theo has a love for art and Object d’ Art, and this allows him to execute these focal points naturally, without the result looking contrived. Technology is moving at a rate of knots and Theo ensures that he is continually up to date with advances as well as future technologies. Therefore, he can incorporate these into his work to ensure that his homes are “future-proof” without needing to continually incur additional costs as we move towards the age of the Smart Home. Based in Johannesburg, Theo works throughout Africa and has already sparked interest from discerning homeowners across Europe and the US. www.tbad.co.za

To achieve this new milestone, the company has committed to offsetting the CO² emissions of the entire life cycle of the Silestone Sunlit Days series. The company will rely on different voluntary offsetting projects that are certified and within the guidelines of the Voluntary Carbon Market. These efforts are also complemented by the brand’s partnership with Equilibrio Marino, a Spanish NGO that works towards preserving the Mediterranean seabed. Sunlit Days is a collection of five colours inspired by the shades and nature found in the Mediterranean region. The series offers a journey through light and colour, with fresh style and a nod to tones of the Mediterranean, inspired by human values and simple yet profound ways of living. Faro White, Cincel Grey, Arcilla Red, Cala Blue and Posidonia Green are more than just the names of these five colours. They are individual tributes to the stories, experiences, expressions and ways of life of real people who have found their true essence through the Mediterranean. Read below for the intriguing people and the beautiful stories behind the inspiration:

FARO WHITE & MARIO, THE LAST LIGHTHOUSE KEEPER One day, while in Madrid, Mario came across a newspaper advertisement offering training for lighthouse keepers. After a few months, he had successfully traded his life on land for a life at sea. Facing the 150 kilometres of the sea stretching to the horizon, the lights of Madrid were replaced by the single lantern of a lighthouse. For more than 28 years, Mario has been working at the Cabo de Gata Natural Park in Almeria as the last lighthouse keeper. While a new age of technology threatens his profession, his stories will continue to live on when he is gone.

CINCEL GREY & DAVID, THE LUTHIER Bathed in light from his workshop window, David labours with a smile across his face. Sketches and drawings of unique guitars are scattered across the workshop walls, while different scents of wood fill the air. David, originally from France, is a luthier based in Níjar, Almeria, who came to Spain for his job and stayed for the particular way of life, his love of the sun, the music and the magnetism of the land. His love is his art, and he enjoys every detail of his work, thinking about the journey and not the destination. Fine-grained and silky in tone, Cincel Grey is a colour that performs best when bathed in light. Both neutral and versatile, it is balanced between warm and cool, offering a captivating soft texture. ARCILLA RED & THE VINE GROWERS ROBER AND MARIA DEL MAR Located between the Sierra Nevada and the Sierra de Gádor, the peaceful Spanish region of Fondón is home to Rober and Maria del Mar and their vineyard. Ten years ago, they came to this small vineyard and established their connection with the land and nature by putting down roots. Their wine has a unique flavour, made exclusively from the grapes grown in the region’s rich clay soil. Fate, purity and passion define their way of life.

Defined by its earthy red shade, Arcilla Red represents how the Mediterranean breathes fire and vibrancy of life through parts of its geography. Passion and strength embody the spirit of this colour, which boasts a soft texture that blends harmoniously with its beauty.

CALA BLUE, POSIDONIA GREEN, & SEA CONSERVATIONISTS FERNANDO AND MARINA The Mediterranean lifestyle is a unique way of life that should be lived memorably and intensely. Its sea reflects this lifestyle, an ode to biodiversity with a dance of species coexisting in a constant, delicate balance. Cala Blue embodies the sea, the breeze, the vastness and the infinite horizon of the Mediterranean. A deep and sophisticated shade of blue, it vibrates among the elements that surround it, with a texture that mimics the caress of the sea. Posidonia Green is a reflection of the treasured meadows found on the bottom of the Mediterranean Sea. Its soft and delicate texture is balanced by its energy and C A L A B L U E ^ P O S I D O N I A G R E E N joy, ready to surprise, hypnotize and conquer.

Uniqwa Collections

With a strong African flavour, Uniqwa Collections is, as the name describes, uniqueness with a difference.

ideas that often feature as van Heerden talks about his business.

Established in Queensland in 2009 by South African born Charl van Heerden, Uniqwa is all about simplicity and art combined with function; the pieces are organic, earthy and naturally modern.

Charl took a slightly circuitous route to get to this point with his business, and it hasn’t always been smooth sailing. Trial and error, good timing and bad timing, surviving the Brisbane 2011 Floods mixed with sheer determination, belief, serendipity and a love of furniture have seen Uniqwa thrive over the past years.

Much of Charl’s inspiration originates from Africa, the stunning natural luxurious resorts and the tribal influences. “I am, and always have been, inspired by the culture that I grew up in. It is such a creative place where people use materials often overlooked to create the most amazing pieces of art. I have learned that there is the potential for beauty in everything around us, but it is the way we use it, the way we see it and the way we apply it that makes it beautiful.”

As a young man growing up in Cape Town, South Africa, Charl had intended to divide his time between work and his passion for furniture. It hadn’t occurred to him how he could develop a career around something he considered to be a hobby. So, he embarked on a business degree in commerce and marketing only to change tack after discovering that he could merge work and play with furniture design and manufacturing.

Central to the business philosophy is the aim to provide unique contemporary designs that are influenced by nature and ethnic cultures. Sustainability, the unique quality of handmade furniture and accessories and the combination of textures to create a tactile, earthy environment are

Charl left South Africa for Australia and enrolled in a Diploma of Furniture Design and Technology at RMIT in Melbourne. As he learnt more about modern furniture production, he became reminded about the beauty of handmade pieces, natural materials, a sustainability ethos and ethnic cultures. The idea

of packaging all these ingredients into beautiful and functional pieces of furniture became his motivation. The name ‘Uniqwa’ – an Africanised twist on the word ‘unique and a simple way to capture the principle idea behind the brand – evolved during his studies at RMIT. “We were encouraged to start developing our own brand back then, and I was quite fresh out of South Africa at that time. It still had a predominant influence in my life,” he explains. “We are all inspired by different natural elements around the world, so I wanted to develop a company that helped to bring those experiences and memories that people gather as they travel,” he says of his aim to reproduce those feelings through the way people decorate their homes. A lot of the inspiration for a new product is born in the resorts of South Africa and other African resort destinations, with manufacturing done in Southeast Asia. New designs begin with sourcing the right product that fits within the business philosophy and enhances the brand. As the range continues to expand, it naturally begins to reach a wider market which leads to more opportunities and connections with designers and other established brands. “We are heavily focused on quality control, improving continuously everything that we do and not just finding a product and selling into the market. We are continuously focused on development.”

but we always try and add our own element to make it unique,” he says. “If other people are doing a product we do, we will probably stop doing that. We don’t want to compete in the market with the same product. We want to compete in the market in uniqueness.” Their product hits the spot for contemporary casual living and outdoor furniture. Charl believes in moving towards more raw and natural products and away from 100 per cent synthetic products that are typical of the outdoor market. He notes that clients are leaning towards more natural materials. “There’s definitely a focus on outdoor fabrics and increasing the variety and options and almost bringing an inside look to the outdoors,” he says. “We don’t feel there needs to be a different look just because furniture is used in a different application. Obviously, the materials need to be able to handle the extreme conditions that Australia throws at us, but if we can incorporate an indoor look or relaxed look, it doesn’t matter whether it’s used indoors or outdoors as long as it fits the theme you want to achieve.” What began as a love of furniture and hobby for the young man from Cape Town has become a constant at every stage of his life. It’s a business and lifestyle that he is passionate about sharing with his family, the design community and the wider market. “It’s the one thing that ticks all the boxes,” he says.

“We don’t really scout out trends and try and follow trends. We see where there is interest in the market,

My Yellow Room

Kim Williams’ Inspiring Story Kim reveals the inspiration behind her book My Yellow Room and how it shaped her perspective of the design process. Kim Williams is a creative behaviour strategist and runs a full-service Cape Town-based interior design studio. She is known for her unique approach to interiors which blends creative, behavioural and design strategies. Presenting at Decorex, Kim will be expanding on how the world of interior design has shifted and its evolution has become about “interior intelligence”. She is on a constant search for what is coming next, how the world is changing and what this means for design and her work. Her deepest passion centres around designing to positively impact the physical and emotional lives of her client’s so that they can live their best possible life – at home and work. This passion is also evident in her property development and commercial design projects where understanding what people are needing from their spaces and how interiors can serve them better to improve the way they live and work is key.

42 |

d e s i g n / EDIT Magazine | Joburg Edition 2021

Where Kim’s journey began Her journey with design started in her bedroom where she spent many years indoors as a young child born with a club foot. “I was always drawn to the colour yellow. It made me feel happy, like I was basking in golden light,” says Kim in her book. “I dreamed of my bedroom being yellow and filled with this light. A place where everything felt in harmony. Where every item contributed to the glow and flow of the space. It was there that my journey as an interior designer began. I just didn’t know it yet.” Kim explains that she is so grateful for this early time in her Yellow Room as a child, because it led her to renovating her own properties during her early twenties, then took her to corporate workspaces as a change management consultant and behaviour specialist for over twenty years, and finally culminating in her life’s passion, interior design. “All these experiences led up to this one moment: the creation of Kim Williams Design where I get to live my passion and purpose every day.” Today Kim has the portfolio to go with her passion; she has worked across building and construction projects, alongside developers and architects for over 111 new apartments, 18 residential homes, 8 renovations and 4 commercial projects in the design phase, with many more in the pipeline. These projects include a variation of interior architecture, interior strategy, design and finishing, as well as soft furnishing and installation. So, why write a book? My Yellow Room Kim’s idea for the book germinated as she started writing a blog in 2020 during the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic and lockdown. She began using this time to understand what she wanted out of the next chapter of her life. Kim soon realised that her experiences could help many people navigate the unknown of being in a confined space - how to understand what they needed in order to function better - and how to use this knowledge to improve their quality of life and manage their mindset in an incredibly challenging time. d e s i g n / EDIT Magazine | Joburg Edition 2021

“If they could understand the basic principles of how a space affects their wellbeing, mindset and energy that small things make a big difference - then somehow this could free them from the limitations of this time,” she says. As she wrote the blog and received positive feedback, this idea grew to combine all these lessons into a book that would inspire others through the lens of her life as a creative behavioural strategist. PRESENTS IQWEQWE, A NEW COLLECTION OF CARVED CERAMICS BY MADODA FANI

An exploration of pattern and movement inspired by insect exoskeletons. Southern Guild presents a new collection of carved ceramics by Madoda Fani, titled iQweqwe, on view in the gallery until 30 November. The patterned incisions that have defined Fani’s work to date become an all-encompassing ‘skin’ in this series of 12 hand-coiled works. The show’s isiXhosa title can be translated as “crust” but here refers to insect exoskeletons, a central fascination for the artist. Fani’s work is gaining significant international attention with a recent acquisition earlier this year by the Philadelphia Museum of Art in the US. The iQweqwe collection features both functional and sculptural works in which Fani explores unusual new forms, including vessels with tall, conical lids; a bowl supported by a large, four-legged stand; a two-handled pot; and an oval canister. Their contours are articulated by concentric lines carved into the clay, finished with detailed markings and studded protrusions, whose repetition lends the surfaces a mesmerising rhythm. 44 |

d e s i g n / EDIT Magazine | Joburg Edition 2021

Veering from his usual blackened finish, Fani has left three of the pieces in their original terracotta state, signifying a kind of “stripping back” and returning to one’s roots – much like an insect shedding its skin. This purity of form and earthy colour gives the works an ancient, artefact-like feel. Combined with their pronounced armour-like exteriors, they appear concurrently timeless and futuristic. Growth and the natural progression of things are recurring themes in Fani’s work. He likens the creating of a piece to that of a pregnancy: a process of varied phases of development and change, before the birth of the final, fully-formed product that is then named. Fani rarely plans his pieces, beginning with a loose idea and then surrendering to the clay, allowing it to lead him: “I let my work take me where it wants to go,” he says. His evolution as an artist has brought him full circle, seeing him return to one of his original inspirations – insects – only this time, instead of painting them, he is now moulding and carving them from clay. “The work that I’m doing now, is more of a revisiting of that old work, except now I’m using different materials,” he explains. The medium of ceramic yields other surprising characteristics: when gently tapped, the works produce a similar sound to that of a shell or exoskeleton being tapped COLLABORATION WITH BMW The illusion of movement in Fani’s iQweqwe collection becomes a larger-than-life reality in a custom-designed car wrap the artist collaborated on with BMW South Africa. He adapted his signature incised patterns into line drawings that have been applied as a two-layered wrap to the body of a BMW X7. The iridescent sheen of the car echoes that of an insect carapace, against which Fani’s intricate patterns come alive. “It’s exciting to see my work take on a different form and to collaborate with such a recognised brand like BMW. The fact that the car is going to be driven around Cape Town means that people who are not familiar with my ceramics will now be able to see my work,” explains Fani. ABOUT SOUTHERN GUILD Southern Guild commissions, produces and exhibits contemporary collectible design by the most compelling talents in South Africa. The gallery has pioneered the collectible design category on the continent, propelling its artists and designers to make original work that is distinctly African and globally relevant. Founded in 2008 by Trevyn and Julian McGowan, Southern Guild’s rigorous curatorial programme has shaped the world’s perceptions of African design and forged a unique vernacular in the international arena.

The

MØDERNIST Modernism, as an overall socially progressive trend of thought, affirmed the power of human beings to create, improve and re-shape their environment. We were already in love with Mid-Century Modern (MCM) design in 2004 when we started trading as WASTELAND at 44 Stanley Avenue. Back then we used to stock great pieces from local design houses such as Artecasa, Frystark, Kallenbach & DS Vorster. We were also especially passionate about Danish MCM design as they were one of the pioneers of this movement and (for us) were responsible for creating some of the most iconic and beautiful pieces of this period. These are more like useable art to us rather than just furniture. However, we were only able to find such pieces locally from time to time so in 2011 we decided to launch MØDERNIST in Parkhurst which specialises mainly in imported original Danish Mid-Century Modern pieces. We have sold and stock furniture from designers Finn Juhl, Arne Jacobsen, Kai Kristiansen, Hans Wegner, Ib Kofod Larsen, Johannes Andersen, Kurt Østervig, Georg Thams, Omann Jun and Bodil Kjær to name a few, although we also have pieces from unknown designers. Besides vintage furniture items we also have smalls by likes Dansk / Jens Quistgaard, ceramics by Royal Copenhagen and Kähler, lighting by Poul Henningsen and Louis Poulsen as well as vintage B&O Hi-Fi equipment designed by Jacob Jensen. WASTELAND is situated upstairs from MØDERNIST and still focusses on great locally sourced pieces. This is not to say that all the pieces were made here but they were found here. There are many advantages to buying a curated MCM piece from us. These pieces were manufactured ±55 years ago and were made by master craftspeople employing hands-on techniques. As opposed to current mass produced standards which were designed to reduce unit costs above all else often resulting in inferior quality.

46 |

d e s i g n / EDIT Magazine | Joburg Edition 2021

They are much more unique as only a limited number of these original pieces still exist worldwide compared to more contemporary pieces that one can just pick off a large retailer’s catalogue. A huge portion of our pieces are essentially one-offs for us. Not to say only one was ever made but we’ve only had one for sale to date in our 17 year history. There is also the investment aspect to consider on Danish signature pieces where the designer and / or manufacturer can be attributed. These pieces have shown to appreciate greatly over time with some premium pieces fetching unbelievably high prices in a rather buoyant international market. There are many sought after known local pieces as well which enjoy increases in value. That being said, even pieces by unknown Danish and local designers hold their value at the very least, as prices of newly manufactured items increase with inflation. The quality of raw materials used were also generally of a much higher than presently available. These pieces also contradict the general disposable use and throw culture that has permeated much contemporary mass produced items by staying relevant in terms of design and also lasting in terms of build quality. Many of these pieces have been passed down from generation to generation and still have many lifetimes to be functionally useful and aesthetically pleasing. However, some of the aspects above which are huge pros in our books, also bring with them certain challenges. The logistics of dealing with thousands of unique items that each have a different source, cost price & restoration approach can be very labour intensive and time consuming. After we source, restore and market each item, we are limited to selling only as many of them as we have, more often than not, this is usually just one. It is still considered quite a niche market in SA with a majority of the market opting for commercial options without being fully aware of the alternatives. Although we’re certainly finding that interest for MCM has been steadily growing. It’s also hard to provide pieces for large projects that require multiple units of a single item. Like 60 of the same chairs for a restaurant, Sofas for corporate lounges for locations all over the country, TV units for hotel rooms etc. d e s i g n / EDIT Magazine | Joburg Edition 2021

Since we are limited to what we find or have in stock, in the past, we have actually designed specific pieces for the above applications which we have taken into production for certain projects. We still followed the core principles of MCM design where function was paramount, the design was understated overall but to a trained eye or upon closer inspection subtle details reveal themselves along with the care taken in design and material used along with the attention to detail and build quality which becomes apparent. Also since we primarily deal in pieces that are from a finite resource, moving forward, we will be bringing out our own manufactured range to complement our vintage pieces. We are also in the process of upgrading our contemporary Sofa designs which will employ crafted MCM processes and techniques of construction while using up-to-date manufacturing processes. We are very excited about these future prospects so watch this space! In the meanwhile please fee free to get in touch or visit our showroom for anything in particular you are looking for, or just to browse and enjoy being surrounded by beautiful objects. All our pieces are restored in-house at our workshop and we also provide upholstery and wood restoration services for your own pieces. The MCM style is our forte but we take on most work required on any vintage pieces. https://www.modernist.biz/ 47 43 |
