HELLO DLA JELLIES! have all been taking good care of yourselves during this critical time.
COVID-19 has limited us from doing certain activities, but it hasn’t stopped us from doing service. We as a board, try our best to create service events that best accommodate to you. So be on the lookout for those service announcements!
We are also going to begin the transition to online classes, so I hope many of you are taking that well. With that being said, please enjoy reading the August

LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT Hello everyone, Welcome to another addition of “The Jam”. Hope you’ve all been doing well and staying safe. Please continue to stay home, maintaining good hygiene, and wear a mask when you go out . Now regarding service, we might be in quarantine and our options in doing service are limited, but would like to remind you that we do provide at home and outside service events. WE try to look for new events and something that you will be interested in. It would mean a lot if you could participate. IT would also help us reach our service goal (we have extended our goal once, let’s do it again! We’re so close)! For anyone starting online or college classes, good luck. Take things easy and remember to take your breaks in between your studies, your mental health is a priority <3 That is all for now, please enjoy reading and see you next time.
With an immense passion for service, Irma Gonzalez 20-21 DLA Key Club President

SERVICE EVENTS AMERICAN LEGION It’s very fun volunteering at American Legion. The people there are always so nice. My feet and back always hurt after from all the Movement, but it’s honestly so worth it.
Our day usually goes by putting tables and chairs in the dining area, prepare silverware, and then wait for customers to give their order. We then deliver their meal and dessert to their table. Finally, we clean up and go home. What I really enjoy most about it is that I get to hangout with my friends and meet new people. Due to quarantine, I haven’t been able to talk to anyone in person, so this has given me the opportunity to socialize. I also enjoy serving people. I also think this service event has allowed me to have some great real life work experience. - Nelly Rosales DLA

SERVICE EVENTS YARD SALE When I say the opportunity to assist in a yard sale, I couldn’t pass it down. I started off by arriving there at 5 am and all through it seems dreadful and awfully titing, there was nothing else I’d rather be doing. I was able to make new friends in almost an instant while doing our tasks we were able to have fun. Through the whole 10 hour period we got snacks, learned how to have fun advertising, even dancing singing along the way. I learned how to bargain with incoming customers and how to find an effective way to sell more items while making a solid profit. I enjoyed every single part of it. -Celeste Galvan DLA Junior
