Heyheyhey! Welcome to the August issue of THE JAM. Can you believe its already August?? Time really does fly by. Anyways,, my name is Alyla and I humbly serve as Del Lago’s Key Club Vice President. I enjoy making bento boxes, going to convoy, zoning out, and watching cdramas and kdramas! As summer starts coming to an end and in-person school starts, I would like to remind you to stay healthy, take care of yourself, and eat well!! This transition after being online for a year will be hard for most but we can do it! I think. I hope you enjoy reading this issue as much as I did putting it together. Now let’s get this newsletter started up! Alyla Don Vice President

Letter From President Hi my Jellies~ What sort of music are you guys interested in nowadays? Personally, I’ve always been interested in all sorts of music, but this time, Japanese city pop has been hitting the spot. In tandem with that, school has also been slowly coming back again! I hope to be able to see all of your faces soon, and be able to get to know more of you soon as well! Lowkey, I’ve been dreading coming back to school since I’ve been pretty used to being at home, and it’s quite relaxing to just chill at home, and work on personal interests and hobbies. What have you guys been up to this summer? I’ve been working on my piano skills recently, since I used to be able to play when I was younger, but… I might have stopped playing it, so I have to relearn it from scratch. I’ve also been brushing up on my cooking skills, as well as trying to be healthier. I hope that you guys have been able to be enjoy your summers! Being productive is great, but honestly, just enjoy yourself, it’s the point of having fun, and relaxing during summer. Other than that, I hope that you all have been enjoying the events that we have had, and please let me know what you guys are particularly interested in! There are a lot of projects that we are planning on getting out soon, so I’m so excited to see the results of our work, and I hope you all enjoy it as well~ Also, look at how pretty our newsletter is this month, our officer board works so hard, so I hope that you all know how much I adore you, and how thankful I am to have you on my board <3! Til then Jellies, I can’t wait to see what you’ve been up to!

Stinging with Passion, President Jessica Nguyen

Member of the Month Yannik Castillejo

First of all, a large props to Yannik to always attending our events, and he’s always doing a great job to attend as well as help out at our events as well! He and Esme are always a certain to come to most our events, and we appreciate it so much! Thank you for all the work that you do, especially in being able to wake up so early to help out at Interfaith, since all of our sleep schedules are practically wrecked at this point.

I learned that Key club is a program in where everyone is welcomed and you get the opportunities to serve our community, develop leadership skills and make friends knowing this, this is the reason I decided to join. Even though I haven’t been in key club that long I have noticed that key club is a place in where you learn life skills and knowledge.

I decided to join key clubs for the reasons being that I thought it would be a nice way to be more social. It would be a great way to earn credits and a good thing to put on my college applications. But what really stuck out to me that decided to join was how welcoming and how fun Key Club looked and how much of a community it seemed. I now enjoy going to key club events and found a community that I am both comfortable in and proud to be a part of.

Joy Malak Junior

Hi all! I’m Joy Malak and as of this upcoming academic year I will be a junior at Del Lago. Ever since my freshman year, I have always been interested in joining clubs on campus, especially those that really impact our community and society. One of the first clubs that I confidently signed up for was Key Club. Not only were the members extremely kind and welcoming, but the club also had a wonderful mission, which bettered our community through various acts of service. While I personally haven’t been an avid participant within the club, I can tell that each event held is one that is well thought out and planned. I look forward to becoming more involved in Key Club events this year, and strongly encourage my peers to participate in such a productive club!

Yannik Castillo Junior

I joined key club because someone told me about how the group would go out and do service events for the community and the minute I heard that I was interested. They consisted of many events but my favorite ones would have to be the museum cleanup but I’m sure there will be many more events in the future for me to enjoy.
