October 15th through the 21st was Homecoming Week for the University, and all the members of Delta Omicron worked hard, had fun, and showed lots of spirit throughout what proved to be the busiest week of the fall. All week, the house was full of tissue paper and wood glue, as we constructed a 10 ft. by 10 ft. lawn decoration that supported our national philanthropy, CASA. The pomp kick-started a week-long campaign in raising money for CASA. In the afternoons and evenings, Thetas competed in intramural sports like bowling and flag football. Thursday night, Thetas dance team showcased all their hard work at Coleman Coliseum as their stunning jazz routine took home third place overall! Despite their exhaustion, all of the Theta freshman sported their black and gold jerseys to represent Theta so well in Saturday morning’s homecoming parade. Between the spirit of the freshman members and the beautiful rock-n-roll themed float, Theta took home 2nd place in the parade! None of this hard work would be possible without the dedication UA has to tradition and the help from the fantastic members of Delta Tau Delta, Delta Chi, and Kappa Kappa Psi. To top the week off, the Tide got the win on the field over Arkansas.

Super skate To celebrate the initiation of 161 new members, Theta held a sisterhood event at the Tuscaloosa Super Skate roller skating rink. Members tried to stay up on their feet while skating around the rink and had a great time socializing with their sisters.
pumpkin patch To get in the fall spirit, another sisterhood event was held at the Tuscaloosa Barnyard. Members were able to feed the barn animals, pick out pumpkins and enjoy a hay ride through the Alabama corn fields.
Theta INtramurals
The Theta flag football team and soccer team have been highly competitive in their seasons this fall. Both teams have made it to the playoffs and soon Theta will be having games with their intramural volleyball team. Keep up the good work ladies!

Theta parents weekend Our members had an event filled weekend for parent’s weekend which started Friday, October 20th, with a silent auction benefiting CASA, following a parent’s mixer at Rounder’s rooftop on the strip where parents and members enjoyed music and dancing. On Saturday, members and their family enjoyed a game day meal at the house before the kickoff of the Alabama vs. Tennessee game. It was a fun filled weekend of CASA, parents, and football!
LEADING WOMAN OF THE MONTH : Megan Reder Our Leading Woman of the Month for October is Megan Reder. Megan is a junior majoring in Restaurant & Hospitality Management from Pittsburgh, PA. She currently interns at Bama Bed & Breakfast, serves as the Director of Fundraising for The B+ Foundation at Alabama and recently got into the Disney College Program! Theta day of service To honor and celebrate our founder Bettie Locke’s birthday, we participated Theta’s Day of Service. Members participated in range of service events including cleaning up the Riverwalk, volunteering at the Tuscaloosa Animal Shelter, and writing letters to soldiers overseas. The day ended with members attending the B+ Cookout to support our local philanthropy. It was nice to give back to the Tuscaloosa community and embrace what being a Theta is through honoring Theta Day of Service.
fundraising for Ava Kate To support of our B+ Hero Ava Kate in a fundraising competition at her school, Theta raised $2,000 for her brain tumor doctor at the Children’s of Alabama Pediatric Cancer Research. Ava Kate was the highest fundraiser and as her prize, she was able to pie her teacher in the face. She has come such a long way in her fight against reoccurring Ependymoma. We are excited and overjoyed to announce that Ava Kate’s most recent scan has come back cancer free! DELTA OMICRON | 5

Coming up: Kickoff for CASA Help us help abused and neglected kids across our state by coming to Kickoff for CASA at the Theta house November 4 from 3:30 pm to 6:00 pm! In Alabama an estimated 24 children fall victim to abuse and neglect every day. Organizations like Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) support a system of volunteers that serve as a voice for these children and remain with them until they are placed in loving permanent homes. Oftentimes, a CASA volunteer is a child’s only constant adult presence in his or her life, and children with a CASA are proven to be more likely to be adopted, spend less time in foster care, and excel in the classroom. Proceeds from this event will go to training CASA volunteers and improving the lives of more than 1,200 children in our state! Tickets are $5 at the door and 100% of ticket proceeds will go to supporting Alabama CASA. Hope to see you there! If you can’t make it but would still like to donate to Alabama CASA, you can do so at the following link: www.donate.billhighway.com/AlabamaCASA. Halloween with B+ heros This October, Theta and our neighbor Alpha Gamma Delta coordinated a Halloween Party for their B+ Hero, Addie and her sisters. There was trick-or-treating, pumpkin painting and crafts for all of them to do at the Theta house. Overall, it was a fun way to meet the other B+ heros who are paired with houses on campus.
