THE PANSY PATCH SEPTEMBER 2017

THE PANSY PATCH

Big-Little Reveal On September 24th, Delta Omicron celebrated big/little reveal, which joined all the new members with their sorority “families. The new members dressed in costumes to match their big sisters, who hid in huge decorated boxes all throughout the house. The big sisters showed off their creative skills with many different costume themes with nods to our favorite characters, celebrities, and brands. The excited new members stood in front of their boxes while the big sisters waited patiently inside them, until they all jumped out at once. Screams erupted everywhere as the new members felt even more at home here at Theta. Big/little reveal was the first event during inspiration week leading up to initiation. After big/little reveal, members enjoyed an ice cream sundae bar with their new Theta family.

kickboxing

Sisterhood events at the Student Recreation center have been a favorite for our members. This month, members participated in a kick-boxing class that was given in one of the large studio rooms at the Rec.

Miss Sorority row Freshman Margeaux Riehm represented Theta in the Miss Sorority Row Pageant. The competition consisted of three rounds. During the first round, everyone wore dresses and discussed their house’s national philanthropy. The second round had everyone wearing their best Alabama game day gear, and in the last round, everyone wore evening gowns.

sisterhood brunch

On Sunday, September 17th, Kappa Alpha Theta of the Delta Omicron Chapter organized a sisterhood brunch for the new member class to meet & mingle with the upperclassmen. The house was packed with members eager to introduce themselves to the Freshman. Panera Bread was catered to the house and all the new members now have a name to match the faces of preceding pledge classes.

THE PANSY PATCH

the Theta Foundation On September 15, the local boutique, Entourage clothing was kind enough to give The Theta Foundation 20% of the sales made on that day. The staff from Entourage came to dinner on that Wednesday leading up to the Philanthropy event to give away gift cards and cups to our members who were interested in attending! Members were able to purchase a cute game-day outfit for a great cause.

Leading woman of the month: Alaina Wilson Our Leading Woman of the Month for September is sophomore Alaina Wilson. Alaina is a psychology major from Naperville, IL and spent her summer interning at Naperville Clinical Services. She currently works in two on-campus research labs, works an off-campus job and is our amazing intramural chair! Alaina always puts others before herself and balances all of her obligations with such poise. She truly exemplifies what it means to be a leading woman.

a day at the spa with our b+ hero, Ava Kate

For Ava Kate’s 8th birthday, Service Director Rachel Brown and the members of Theta involved in the B+ Foundation organized a night at the spa at the Theta house for our hero. They gave Ava Kate her very own basket full of relaxing spa treatments so she was able to have her very own ‘at home spa’.
