orse than telling a lie is spending the rest of your life staying true to a lie. - Robert Brault

That quote has always been and always will be one of my personal favorites. It always reminds me of my youth and the trouble I always found a way into. As an adult I look back on many of those days and think “if I only knew then, what I know now”. I’m wise enough to know that was a part of my growing pains, and the beauty of that pain shapes my life to this day. I look at each day and every hour we work on Denovo in just the same way. With that said, I thank you all for allowing us to grow into one of your new favorites. We will always maintain our integrity and continue to bring you new talent every issue as promised. Enjoy!

M

atthew Antelmi Patone, a 25 year old Italian/Irish, New Yorker from Staten Island, who goes by the stage name “Kritikal”

http://thesoundllc.com/epk

Here’s an artist with urban/pop appeal capable of writing street anthems, party anthems and smash pop songs alike. Consider Kritikal a mash-up of - T.I, B.o.B, Lil wayne and Black eye Peas. Kritikal has been busy spreading his music from NY to MIA, he has been hard at work writing, performing and selling music. Kritikal cites a friendly disagreement with a long time friend over who could write the best rhymes as his initial reason for writing his first raps. “My friend was persistent that it wasn’t easy to rap, I decided to prove him wrong and after writing a couple of verses, and getting all the good feedback that I did, I just stuck with it.”

Quote “After I listen to a song, I think how can I improve on this? And most times I just end writing a new one.”

An inspiration to his music, his brother has really played a big role in many of the tracks found on each of his albums. He cites the many situations he’s seen throughout his upbringing for the creative evolution of his music. His first song, called ‘Verbally Vicious’ was all about bragging about how much nicer he was at rapping than anyone else doing it. Since his first song 12 years ago, he’s been the mastermind behind 5 full-length cd’s.

His music has been licensed for use in Television and ad agency campaigns, a few uses are listed below: Tru Tv’s: Hardcore Pawn MTV’s: Pimp my ride, Workaholics: We be Ballin’, TRL On the Road: Genova Renner’s Motocross Tour / Fuel TV HBOs Real Sex Documentary series Kimora: Life In the Fab Lane Biography: 50 Cent Biography: Eminem Biography: Robert Deniro

More on KRITIKAL He has performed on the “All Night with Joey Reynolds show” on NBC’s 2.0. He has a growing fan base and his prior releases Rockstar (single), Diamond In The Dirt (album), Miss NYC and It’s about Time featuring Saigon (both singles) continue to sell well on Amazon and iTunes. His new project, “The New Drug” is a combination of urban mainstream anthems and big pop songs. Kritikal’s single “CHAMPAGNE” off of the New Drug Project is beginning to impact radio now.

SIGNS

Happy Birthday LEO/VIRGO LEO (July 23-Aug 22) Leos are known for being the King of the Jungle – more entertainers born under this sign than any other – Madonna, J Lo, Halle Berry, Mick Jagger just to name a few. You love the limelight and ruled by the Sun, you especially like praise, acknowledgement and the finer things in life. In August the planets are more fairly scattered between fire, air and water signs – not much earth activity at all however…which means that there is a sense of daredevil in the zodiac, as well as a sense of not having as much restriction or control on you. That doesn’t mean however everyone has a free pass to go wild and crazy. A Full Moon in quirky Aquarius sets the tone for the month, happening August 1st and with another Full Moon closing out the month on the 31st in creative, dreamy Pisces, this is the perfect time for all of you to stretch your minds and your imagination. VIRGO (Aug 23-Sept 22) August starts off with a Full Moon on the 1st in Aquarius, your solar sixth house of hard work and health and well–being. That’s sure to please your hard work Virgo ethic and it could even trigger a small raise or some sort of advancement or incentive. Just don’t be a martyr girls and boys! Don’t go looking for extra work and praise and then complain about having to work overtime or on the week-

end. People don’t want to hear it! You’ll be drawn to people and they to you when this month’s second Full Moon in Pisces, your opposite sign and relationship zone lights up the sky August 31st. This is a great influence for all couples – those who have gotten together recently and those who have just met and started hanging out. It’s also a great time to spend time with family and your closest friends and to clear up any silly misunderstandings still lingering from earlier in the month LIBRA (Sept 23-Oct 22) Put fun at the top of your priority list when you’re not working this month Librans. That will be a snap, thanks to this month’s first Full Moon August 1st in Aquarius, your solar 5th house of fun, self–fulfillment and happiness. Plan a family outing, spend time doing a favourite hobby, and enjoy outdoor activities. Even if it means joining your partner and his rowdy mates at a footy

match! Friendship is featured under the August 17 New Moon in Leo, your solar 7th house. Expect your social life to pick up in the following weeks. Gemini’s and Librans are both people you click with instantly, while Aries and Sags are definitely signs that could turn out to be friends with benefits! Workwise don’t be shy about asking for help or career guidance – even if you feel the person you’re asking might not have your very best interests at heart – viewing you as major competition.

SCORPIO (Oct 23-Nov 21) Family life is at its best under the August 1st Full Moon and you might even enjoy spending your vacation days at home this year. This way you get to be with the people you love, fix some things up around the house and do all those things you feel you’re missing out on when stuck behind the desk during the 9–5 grind. With the lunar energy in Aquarius, your solar 4th house of domesticity starting the month off, cooking and entertaining friends and family and even those boring neighbours (who’ve had you over several times and you know it’s your turn). If you’ve ever wanted to take a cooking class, now is the time. Feeling like hosting a party? August 3 & 4 ideal dates.

SAGITARIUS (Nov 22- Dec 21) Life will be hectic for the majority of you this month. Just the way you fire signs like it! You’ll be on the go and on the phone in the 2 weeks following the August 1 Full Moon in Aquarius, your solar third house of communication and small trips. The more people you connect with the better, because someone you encounter could be your lucky charm. Coupled up Sags will also delight in the company of your other half and may even decide to spontaneously shack up together or make some other sort of commitment to each other. If you can sneak away for a day or two, do so. You’ll be quite content to spend more time at home when this month’s second Full Moon August 31st in Pisces shines brightly in your solar 4th house. You can also take advantage of this period to get caught up on all those domestic tasks you intended to do this month and didn’t – so therefore they will spill over into September. CAPRICORN (Dec 22-Jan 19) You’ll be dashing here, there and everywhere this month, with 2 Full Moons revving your engines in your money zone and your communication zones – on the 1st and 31st respectively. Remember to charge your phone because communication will match the daily pace. You might even find yourself having three conversations at once – not very goat like at all! Luckily for you, doing three things at once isn’t something that ruffles your feathers too much. You can handle it unlike many others. Enjoy the hustle and bustle and take time out to touch base with siblings. They’ll be glad to hear from you and to hear how happy you sound – even while you’re complaining that you’re way too busy!

AUGUST AQUARIUS (Jan 20-Feb18) The August 1st Full Moon is in your sign, so you really do start the month of August on a high note. Also this is your time to rid yourself of anything or anyone who is holding you back in anyway. With a New Moon on the 17th shining on your relationship zone, working with others, being able to sit back and keep quiet when someone does something you don’t feel is the right thing…and only offering advice when asked for it. August spotlights all of your relationships. Now is the time when you should reach out to others in order to learn all you can learn about human nature and how you interact with others. This will be easier after Mercury turns direct Aug 8 in Leo, your relationship zone. A cutie you met earlier in the year could contact you out of the blue or you could find their digits and give them a ring!

TAURUS (Apr 20-May 20) Domestic life is upbeat especially once Mercury the communicator turns direct in Leo in your solar 4th house on August 8. That’s followed by a Full Moon in the same part of your chart August 17. You can use all of this positive energy to improve your home or redecorate a room . August begins with a Full Moon in stubborn Leo on the 1st. This lunar activity has the potential to make you an attention–getter and a go–getter. Placed in Aquarius, your solar 10th house, and aligned with Jupiter, the lunar energy could trigger a nice raise and some recognition of a job well done. You’ll also realize that several years of hard work are finally beginning to pay off and you and your efforts are truly valued. Enjoy the boost in self–esteem as you celebrate with loved ones. Just be aware of jealous co–workers and people who aren’t so happy for you.

PISCES (Feb 19-Mar 21) The 2 Full Moons this month, August 1 in Aquarius, your solar 12th house of self–renewal and past karma, the second one August 31 in your sign – focus their energy on YOU. You and the value of taking it easy on weekends and evenings. Burning the candle at both ends and being a zombie during the work week isn’t going to cut it boys and girls. No matter how much fun you have out and about! Plan to stay in more than go out. Read a good book, catch up on your DVR/TIVO list and all those movies you’ve been meaning to watch. Spending time with your kids and pets is also a great stress reliever (especially the pets!). You could in fact experience some tricky situations with your children this month, including a battle of the wills. If you have a teen, expect a strong independent streak to emerge that will hurt many sensitive fish feelings and test your limits. Don’t necessarily believe everything your children tell you either.

GEMINI (May 21-June 21) Being curious and learning something new is always a good thing and for you airheads, a way to fuel your thirst for activity and adventure. August 1st Midweek a Full Moon in your spiritual and higher learning zone is the push many of you need to sign up for an adult workshop or class, or ditch your 9–5 grind altogether and get that MBA or Master’s degree you know you need. This is also a great week for you to use Venus (in your sign for her last week) and Saturn in your romance zone to add some fun and glitter to your love life. It’s also a cosmically correct time to make a long–term commitment to your creative projects.

ARIES (Mar 22-Apr 19) Relationships are in high focus this month, thanks to the August 1 Full Moon in Aquarius, your solar 11th house and the New Moon in Leo, your solar 5th house on the 17th. They’re an ideal match to energize your social life. See friends, get involved in a community organization, and cheer your children in their activities. Along the way you’re likely to meet some fascinating people and if you’re single, a new romance could be in the forecast. While Leos and Aquarians are front running romantic partners, Gemini’s and Librans are not far behind. Isn’t it great to have so many choices? Make sure you are out and about on the 16th–18th – looking your best – lippy and eyebrows done or wearing clean jeans and nice shoes boys!

CANCER (June 22- July 22) Bask in the glow that is Venus spending the next month in your sign. Beauty treatments, falling in lust or love, spending way too much money on unnecessary but very necessary luxury items are all in your foreseeable future. While it’s impossible not to go slightly overboard during her visit, make sure whatever you buy is returnable. Keep the tags! Mercury the planet of common sense makes moves too August 8 when he finally moves direct after being out of phase since July 15. He moves direct in your money zone, so a long awaited check, tax credit or inheritance could finally come through (or at least good news regarding it is in the cosmic pipeline).
