GRAN MOTOR COMERCIAL DEL PARAGUAY

LA CÁMARA DE COMERCIO AMERICANO PARAGUAYA EN CONJUNTO CON MONALISA REALIZÓ UN ENCUENTRO DE ALTO NIVEL PARA DEBATIR ACERCA DEL PAPEL DE LA CIUDAD COMO POLO COMERCIAL EN LA REGIÓN. THE COMMERCIAL MOTOR OF PARAGUAY. THE US-PARAGUAY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE TOGETHER WITH MONALISA HELD A HIGH-LEVEL MEETING TO DISCUSS THE CITY’S ROLE AS A COMMERCIAL HUB IN THE REGION.

PARAGUAY EN UN MOMENTO FAVORABLE

Eduardo Almeida, representante del Banco Interamericano de Desarrollo en Paraguay, inició la conferencia refiriéndose al clima económico favorable que se vive en el país. “Paraguay ha hecho muy bien su tarea en los últimos años, está en una condición macroeconómica extremadamente favorable, aumentando significativamente las inversiones extranjeras, desarrollando mecanismos para el apoyo al sector privado, enfocando las inversiones en infraestructura. Tiene condiciones para que esta situación pueda ser incluso mejor en el futuro con recursos genuinos y el alcance del grado de inversión”. Señaló que el gran desafío está en la ejecución de las obras de infraestructura y la necesidad de optimizar los tiempos para estar a la altura de las demandas. Finalizó diciendo que quien esté en Paraguay en los próximos años haciendo negocios o trabajando tendrá el placer de vivir el histórico momento de un país desarrollando su enorme potencial y gran crecimiento.

CIUDAD DEL ESTE: EL HUB REGIONAL

Jorge Usandivaras, ex presidente de la Cámara de Comercio Americano Paraguaya, expuso su visión. “A Ciudad del Este no hay que verla como la segunda ciudad más importante del país, hay que ponerla en un contexto distinto, comparable a Panamá o Dubai. Ciudad del Este es un hub en sí misma, con una dinámica distinta que le da su característica geográfica de estar ubicada en el nodo donde se unen tres países y también por su historia y su gente. Es una ciudad joven, a diferencia de grandes capitales de América Latina que fueron fundadas en época de la colonia, es la ciudad de los pioneros. En Estados Unidos en su momento fue la conquista del Oeste, aquí sería la conquista del Este”. Resaltó el papel de Faisal Hammoud como parte de esa generación. Finalizó diciendo que por geografía y por características humanas, Ciudad del Este es algo único en las Américas. Tiene cinco cosas fundamentales: comercio, desarrollo industrial y -a diferencia de Dubai, por ejemplo- agricultura, agua y energía eléctrica. Todo eso concentrado en un centro urbano multicultural y multilingüístico. “La generación joven tiene 50 años por delante para consolidar ese desarrollo y crecer”.

PARAGUAY: TIERRA BENDECIDA Y RICA

Faisal Hammoud, presidente de Monalisa señaló que Paraguay es una tierra bendecida y rica en todo los sentidos: en cultura, ubicación geográfica, tierra y especialmente su gente. “Con mucho orgullo digo que me siento paraguayo y fue el destino el que me condujo a Ciudad del Este, donde proyecté mi vida familiar y empresarial y seguimos trabajando para formar el progreso nacional y regional”. Expresó que Ciudad del Este es una invitación abierta a nuevas oportunidades de negocio y que los anuncios del Gobierno de la alianza entre el sector público y privado son el generador de nuevas oportunidades de negocio y grandes inversiones. Concluyó diciendo que ser empresario en un mundo globalizado es desafiante y exige inmensa responsabilidad social y ética, puesto que además de generar riquezas y oportunidades de trabajo “es necesario contribuir activamente en el desarrollo de las comunidades de las que formamos parte. Esa ha sido la misión y visión del Grupo Monalisa”.

PASEO 3 NACIONES

Faisal Hammoud aprovechó la ocasión para anunciar que el próximo paso para el Grupo es la vialización del Paseo 3 Naciones, el proyecto más ambicioso concebido por Monalisa en estos 45 años de trayectoria y que es fruto de esta experiencia. El Paseo 3 Naciones es un complejo resort comercial y turístico, que consta de un hotel, un casino, un centro de convenciones, shopping y áreas de restaurantes. Actualmente el proyecto ha sido rediseñado y se encuentra en la búsqueda de más inversionistas.

PARAGUAY IN A FAVORABLE MOMENT

Eduardo Almeida, representative of the Inter-American Development Bank in Paraguay, started the conference by referring to the favorable economic climate in the country. "Paraguay has done very well in recent years; it is in an extremely favorable macroeconomic position, significantly increasing foreign investment, developing mechanisms to support the private sector, and focusing on investments in infrastructure. It is positioned such that this situation may be even better in the future with genuine resources and the extension of investments." Mr. Almeida pointed out that the greatest challenge lies in the execution of infrastructure development and the need to optimize the times to be up to the demands. He concluded by saying that whoever is in Paraguay in the next few years, doing business or working, will have the pleasure of living through a historic moment of a country developing its enormous potential and experiencing great growth.

CIUDAD DEL ESTE: THE REGIONAL HUB

Jorge Usandivaras, former president of the Paraguayan American Chamber of Commerce, presented his vision. "Ciudad del Este should not be seen as the second most important city in the country, it must be placed in a different context, comparable to Panamá or Dubai. Ciudad del Este is a hub in and of itself, with a distinct dynamic due to it its geographic positioning at the juncture of three countries as well as for its history and its people. It is a young city, unlike major capitals of Latin America that were founded in colonial times, it is the city of pioneers. The United States, in its moment, was the conquest of the West, this would be the conquest of the East." He emphasized the role of Faisal Hammoud as part of that generation. He ended by saying that by geography and human characteristics, Ciudad del Este is unique in the Americas. It has five fundamental characteristics: trade, industrial development, and - unlike Dubai, for example - agriculture, water and electricity. All this concentrated in a multicultural and multilingual urban center." The young generation has 50 years ahead of them to consolidate that development and grow."

PARAGUAY: A BLESSED AND RICH LAND

Faisal Hammoud, president of Monalisa, said that Paraguay is a richly blessed land in every sense: in culture, geographical location, land and especially its people. "With great pride I say that I feel Paraguayan and it was fate that led me to Ciudad del Este, where I launched my family and business life and where I continue to work to encourage national and regional progress." He said that Ciudad del Este is an open invitation for new business opportunities and that Government announcements about the alliance between the public and private sectors are generating new business opportunities and large investments. He concluded by saying that being an entrepreneur in a globalized world is challenging and requires immense social and ethical responsibility, since in addition to generating wealth and job opportunities, it is necessary to contribute actively to the development of the communities of which we are a part. That has been and continues to be the mission and vision of the Monalisa Group ."

PASEO 3 NACIONES

Faisal Hammoud took the opportunity to announce that the next step for the Monalisa Group will be the creation of Paseo 3 Naciones, the most ambitious project conceived by Monalisa in 45 years of experience, and which is the result of this experience. Paseo 3 Naciones is a business and toursit resort complex consisting of a hotel, a casino, a convention center, shopping and restaurant areas. The project has been redesigned and is in search of more investors.
