The Assignment: 7 seconds ... love at first sight?
The book jacket is the number one marketing tool on the fiercely fought-over book market. Almost 90% of all buying decisions are made once buyers are actually at the book store. This shows the forces that play off against each other here: A good cover design versus seemingly better-selling mainstream. This does not bode well for smart design, also in view of the fact that the time available to get through to a prospective buyer is on average 7 seconds. It is up to you now to show that things can be done better
