Bald ist es wieder soweit und die edlen Vollblut Pferde preschen zum 117. Mal über den gefrorenen St. Moritzersee. Dieses seit 1907 stattfindende Spektakel ist eine Weltexklusivität – das einzige Pferderennen auf Schnee, umgeben von der einzigartigen Schönheit der Oberengadiner Berglandschaft. Auch dieses Jahr erwarten Sie an den Rennsonntagen 4., 11. und 18. Februar 2024 spannende Trabrennen, blitzschnelle Flachrennen und die wagemutigen Skikjörings. An den Family Days an den Samstagen steht wieder der Nachwuchs im Vordergrund und beweist sein Können und Mut ebenfalls in allen drei Disziplinen. Hier können Familien und Freunde gemeinsam die Welt des Pferderennsports entdecken und die winterliche Pracht von St. Moritz in vollen Zügen geniessen. Auf dem See erwartet Sie ein vielfältiges Angebot an Speis und Trank sowie ein Rahmenprogramm für Jung und Alt. An dieser Stelle möchte ich mich bei allen Voluntaris, Aktiven, Besitzer, Trainer und Sponsoren bedanken, die einmal mehr dazu beitragen, den White Turf zu einem der prestigeträchtigsten Wintersportveranstaltungen der Welt zu machen. Soon it will be that time again and the noble thoroughbred horses will race across the frozen Lake St. Moritz for the 117th time. This spectacle, which has been taking place since 1907, is a world exclusive - the only horse race on snow, surrounded by the unique beauty of the Upper Engadine mountain landscape. This year too, exciting trotting races, lightning-fast flat races and daring skikjöring await you on race Sundays February 4th, 11th and 18th, 2024. At the Family Days on Saturdays, the youngsters are once again the focus and demonstrate their skills and courage in all three disciplines. Here, families and friends can discover the world of horse racing together and enjoy the winter splendor of St. Moritz to the fullest. A wide range of food and drink awaits you on the lake, as well as a supporting program for young and old. At this point I would like to thank all volunteers, active participants, owners, trainers and sponsors who are once again helping to make the White Turf one of the most prestigious winter sports events in the world. EDLE VOLLBLÜTER MESSEN IHRE KRÄFTE SEIT 1911 AUF DEM ZUGEFRORENEN SEE von St. Moritz. Die jüngste Disziplin der Pferderennen von St. Moritz bestreiten die Galopper, nachdem sich das Skikjöring und die Traber längst etabliert hatten. Es ist nicht einfach herauszufinden, welche der leicht nervösen Pferde am Besten mit dem ungewöhnlichen Untergrund zurecht kommen. Sie müssen ruhig sein und trotzdem ein Kämpferherz besitzen.

SINCE 1911, PRECIOUS THOROUGHBREDS HAVE BEEN COMPETING ON THE FROZEN LAKE OF ST. MORITZ. The last discipline to join the horseraces of St. Moritz were the

gallop races, a long time after the Skikjöring and the trotting races had been established. It is not easy to determine, which of the slightly nervous horses can best cope with the unusual surface. They must be calme and nevertheless show a fighting spirit.

ZU DEN URSPRÜNGEN DES PFERDE RENNSPORTS IN ST. MORITZ GEHÖREN DIE TRABRENNEN, DIE VON ANFANG AN AUF DEM SEE VERANSTALTET WURDEN. Damals verwendete man leichtgebaute Norwegerschlitten, denn normale Räder, wie sie auf Sand oder Gras benutzt werden, kommen schliesslich auf Schnee und Eis nicht in Betracht. Heutzutage bestehen die Kufen der Sulkys aus Aluminium, um es den Trabrennpferden so leicht wie möglich zu machen, in ihrer besonderen Gangart über die Piste zu laufen.

Nowadays, the sulkies are fitted with aluminium blades, in order to make them as light as possible for the horses‘ special gait around the track.

Unser Rennprogramm enthält detaillierte Angaben zu den einzelnen Pferden und zu deren Gewinnchancen («Favoriten», «Aussenseiter»). Auf den Monitoren werden die Eventualquoten für die Siegwette angezeigt und laufend erneuert. Sie erkennen so die Toto-Favoriten anhand der Quoten. Bei der Platz- wette dagegen werden die gesetzten Beträge pro Pferd angegeben.

WIE WETTE ICH AM WETTSCHALTER?

Sie geben in folgender Reihenfolge an: • Wettart • ausgewählte Startnummer(n) der Pferde (nicht die Namen) • Betrag, den Sie pro Wette einsetzen (Grundeinsatz CHF 2.– oder ein Mehrfaches davon) (Also z.B.: “Zweierwette Sieg, Nr. 2 und 5, für CHF 10.–“) Bei Wetten auf ein späteres Rennen nennen Sie bitte zuerst die Nummer des Rennens. WISSENSWERTES RUND UMS WETTEN

• Bet early Don’t leave it till the last minute to place your bet. About 10 to 15 minutes before a race the rush to the betting window starts. No more bets are taken once the start signal is given. • Wetten Sie frühzeitig Warten Sie nicht bis zum letzten Moment, um Ihre Wette zu tätigen. Denn 10-15 Minuten vor dem Rennen beginnt der Ansturm auf die Wettschalter. Beim Startzeichen wird die Wettannahme gestoppt. • Anzahl Pferde im Rennen Bei kleinen Feldern können einzelne Wettarten nicht gespielt werden. Mindestzahl Pferde im Rennen gemäss Programm: Siegwette: 2, Platz- wette: 4, Zweierwette Sieg: 4, Zweierwette Platz: 8, Dreierwette: 6. • Nichtstarter Die Anzahl startende Pferde richtet sich nach der Publikation im Rennprogramm. Nichtstarter haben keinen Einfluss auf die Durchführung der Zweierwetten Sieg und Platz sowie der Dreierwette. Anzahl Quoten bei der Platzwette: Bei Rennen mit acht oder mehr Pferden gemäss Programm gibt es drei Platzquoten, auch wenn weniger als acht Pferde am Start sind. Bei Rennen mit vier bis sieben Pferden gibt es dagegen nur zwei Platzquoten. • Umtausch einer getätigten Wette Gekaufte Tickets können grundsätzlich nicht umgetauscht werden. In Ausnahmefällen (z. B. falscher Inhalt der Wette) ist dies systembedingt nur innerhalb von 5 Minuten nach Kauf möglich. • Gewinnauszahlung Im Unterschied zu Toto / Lotto wird auf Pferdewetten nicht nur 50%, sondern 70% des Wettumsatzes an die Gewinner ausbezahlt. Die Mindestquote beträgt 1.10 : 1. Würde die Quote unter 1.10 liegen (Beispiel: kleines Feld, der Favorit gewinnt, ein weiterer Favorit ist Nichtstarter), werden die Einsätze zurückbezahlt. Die Auszahlung ist bis 30 Min. nach Quotenbekanntgabe für das letzte Rennen möglich. • Rückzahlungen Wetten auf Nichtstarter werden nach den Rennen nach Bekanntgabe des endgültigen Einlaufes zurückbezahlt, ausser bei den Zweierwetten, da gibt es dafür eine Quote «1-R», sofern ein Nichtstarter mit einem platzierten Pferd gespielt wurde. • «Totes Rennen» Wenn zwei Pferde auf einer Linie ins Ziel kommen und auch mit der Zielfoto kein Unterscheid auszumachen ist, werden beide gleich klassiert (ex aequo).

SIEGWETTE SIE SPIELEN 1 PFERD

Sie gewinnen, wenn Ihr Pferd als Sieger einläuft. • Beispiel Sieg Nr.2 und 4 à CHF 10.– • Sie verlangen «Siegwette für die 2 und die 4 zu CHF 10.–». Das kostet CHF 20.–.

PLATZWETTE SIE SPIELEN 1 PFERD

Sie gewinnen, wenn Ihr Pferd unter den ersten drei Pferden einläuft. (bei vier bis sieben Pferden gemäss diesem Programm unter den ersten zwei) • Insider-Tipp Verdoppeln Sie Ihren Einsatz und spielen Sie Sieg und Platz auf dasselbe Pferd. Siegt das Pferd, gewinnen Sie sowohl die Siegquote als auch die Platzquote. Setzen Sie auf mehrere Pferde (mischen Sie Favoriten mit Aussenseitern) oder spielen Sie ein Mehrfaches des Grundeinsatzes (vor allem bei der Siegwette kann das lukrativ sein).

ZWEIERWETTE SIEG SIE SPIELEN 2 PFERDE

Sie gewinnen, wenn Ihre Pferde die ersten zwei Plätze belegen. Dabei spielt die Reihen- folge des Einlaufs keine Rolle, ausser in Rennen mit vier bis sieben Pferden: Da wird die «richtige» Reihenfolge verlangt.

ZWEIERWETTE PLATZ SIE SPIELEN 2 PFERDE

Sie gewinnen, wenn Ihre Pferde unter den ersten drei einlaufen. Für die Gewinnauszah- lung gibt es drei verschiedene Quoten: für 1.+ 2., 1.+ 3. und 2.+ 3., jeweils in beliebiger Reihenfolge. Diese Wettart gibt es bei Rennen mit acht oder mehr Pferden.

DREIERWETTE SIE SPIELEN 3 PFERDE

Sie gewinnen, wenn Ihre drei Pferde die ersten drei Plätze in der richtigen Reihenfolge belegen. Wird keine Dreierwette in der richtigen Reihenfolge gespielt, gewinnen Sie mit den zwei Erstplatzierten (1.+ 2.+ x.); wird auch diese nicht getrofen, gewinnen Sie mit dem Erstplatzierten (1.+ x. + x.).

SIE HABEN GEWONNEN HERZLICHEN GLÜCKWUNSCH

Sie erhalten Ihren Gewinn ausbezahlt nach Bekanntgabe der Quoten durch den Speaker. Die Quoten markieren den Gewinn pro gespielten Franken und sind umso höher, je weniger auf das Pferd gewettet wurde. Multiplizieren Sie Ihren Einsatz mit der Quote und Sie wissen, wie viel Sie ausbezahlt erhalten. Wenn Sie Ihren Gewinn abholen, können Sie gleich für das nächste Rennen wetten und der Gewinn wird Ihnen automatisch angerechnet.

HAVE A BET - GET MORE FROM THE RACING! HOW DO I FIND OUT MORE?

Our race card contains detailed information about the individual horses and their chances of winning («Favourites», «Outsiders»). Current odds are displayed on the monitors for a win bet and are constantly updated. You can therefore clearly see the Toto-Favourites from the odds. In contrast, for place bets, the amounts bet are stated per horse.

BET OR WAGER

All bets have a basic price (minimum basic stake) of 2.00 Swiss francs.

HOW DO I PLACE A BET AT THE BETTING WINDOW?

You must state the following in this order: • Type of bet • The starting number(s) of the selected horse(s) - (not the names) • The amount you wish to put down per bet (minimum basic stake of 2.00 Swiss francs or a multiple thereof) • (So for example: ‘win forecast bet on two horses - No. 2 and No. 5, for 10 Swiss francs per horse.’) When betting on a later race, please first state the number of the race. Otherwise the bet is valid for the next race.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT BETTING

Non-starters have no influence on making win forecast and place forecast bets or trio bets. Number of quoted odds for place bets: In races with eight or more horses as per race card there are three quoted odds even if fewer than eight horses start the race. On the other hand, in races with four to seven horses there are only odds for two places. • Exchanging a placed bet Generally speaking any betting tickets purchased cannot be exchanged. In exceptional circumstances (e.g. if the content of the bet is wrong) due to the system this is only possible within 5 minutes of purchase. • Pay out of winnings In contrast to Toto / Lotto, where only 50% of bets placed are paid out in winnings, 70% is paid to the winners betting on horses. The minimum odds available are 1.10:1. If the available odds were to be below 1.10 (e.g.: small field, the favourite wins, another favourite is a non-starter), the stakes are paid back. Pay-out (of winnings) is possible up to 30 min. after notification of odds for the final race. • Repayment Bets on non-starters are paid back after the race – after the final result has been announced, except in the case of forecast bets where there are special odds of ‘1-R’ if a non-starter is bet on together with a placed horse. • „Dead heat“ If two horses reach the finishing line neck and neck and cannot be separated in a photo finish both horses are given equal first place (ex aequo).

THE INDIVIDUAL TYPES OF BETS

WIN BET (GAGNANT) YOU BET ONE HORSE

You win if your horse comes in first. • Example: Win bet, No. 2 and No. 4 at 10 Swiss francs • You ask to place ‘a win bet of 10 Francs on horse No. 2 and horse No. 4’. This will cost 20 Swiss francs.

PLACE BET (PLACÉS) YOU BET ONE HORSE

You win if your horse comes in first, second or third. (In races with ields of four to seven horses as per this race card, if the horse comes in first or second.) • Insider-tip Double your stake and put down both a win bet and a place bet on the same horse. If the horse wins you win the odds for the win as well as the place odds. If you bet on several horses (combining favourites with outsiders) or if you bet several times the basic bet this can be lucrative – especially with a win bet).

WIN FORECAST BET (COUPLÉ GAGNANT) YOU BET ON 2 HORSES

You win if your horses come in first and second. Here the finishing order doesn’t matter, except in races with four to seven runners, then you have to put the two horses in the ‘right’ order.

PLACE FORECAST (COUPLÉ PLACE) YOU BET ON 2 HORSES

You win if your horses finish in the first three places. There are three diferent sets of odds when paying out winnings: 1st + 2nd, 1st + 3rd and 2nd + 3rd respectively and in any order. This type of bet can be placed in races with eight or more horses.

TRIO BETTING – (ALSO KNOWN AS TRIFECTA, TRICAST, TIERCÉ) YOU BET ON 3 HORSES

You win if your three horses finish in the first three places in the right order. If no trio bet is placed predicting the correct order you win with the first and second place pre-dictions (1st + 2nd + x) ; if this prediction isn’t made, you win by predicting first place (1st + x + x).

The odds for a horse go higher, the fewer the number of bets placed on that horse. Multiply your bet by the odds and you know how much you will receive as a pay-out.
