SENIOR RECALLS TRIP TO HAITI
Just over two years ago a devasta ng earthquake hit the small coun‐ try of Hai destroying the capital city of Port au Prince, killing thou‐ sands of people and leaving even more homeless. This extremely poor country received aid from around the world in the months a er the earthquake, but 2 years later the needs of the Hai an people con nue to be great.
When Devon Prep Senior Connell White visited Hai in January he was amazed by the devasta on. “The roads were disastrous from the earthquake,” he said. “When you fly in you fly right over a refu‐ gee camp, filled with tarps and wood boxes where people were liv‐ ing. It was pre y bad. The 2 ½ hour ride from Port au Prince to Leo‐ gane was just a con nuous slum.”
Connell was in Hai with his father, Dr. Francis J. White, and about 20 others, who had been invited by the University of Notre Dame to visit a hospital/research center in Leogane staffed and funded by the University. Leogane is located just 18 miles from Port au Prince but the drive takes 2‐3 hours on dirt roads filled with pot holes and de‐ bris made even more difficult by the earthquake.

SUPPORT THE DEVON PREP ANNUAL FUND SUPPORT THE DEVON PREP ANNUAL FUND
Because tuition alone does not cover the cost of providing a Devon Prep education, your tax‐ deductible Annual Fund gifts are an essential source of revenue.
You can contribute to the Annual Fund by mail or online by visiting http://www.devonprep.com/ support/giving.html. We are pleased to announce that we have expanded our online giving pro‐ gram. For your convenience we now offer a monthly giving option using PayPal, a trusted leader in online gift processing. Monthly giving offers a simple and convenient way to spread out your fiscal year giving in monthly installments. As your gifts come in monthly, they support the immediate needs of the school throughout the year.
For more information on this and other ways that you can support Devon Prep contact Jeanmarie Emhof, Director of Development at 610.688.7337, development@devonprep.com, or visit http://www.devonprep.com/support/ giving.html
