On Thursday, February 27th, the Frozen Tide traveled to Ice Works in Aston to take on Salesianum in the ICHSL Championship. The game had a lot of energy going into it with the Frozen Tide having its beloved ‘PIT’ cheering them on! Devon went down early in the first few minutes 1-0 but quickly struck back minutes later thanks to a beautiful goal by Brayden Russo ‘27 and assisted by captain, James Gabriele ‘25. Later in the 1st period the Frozen Tide took a 2-1 lead with Kieran Crossan striking a shot into the back to the net with James Gabriele picking up his second assist of the evening.
Unfortunately, the lead did not last long as Salesianum struck back to tie the game 2-2. after the conclusion of the 1 period. The 2nd period went back and forth up until Salesianum took a 3-2 lead going in the 3rd period. After that, the Frozen Tide struggled to stay with the pace of play of Salesianum as they continued to put the puck in the back of Devon’s net. The Frozen Tide’s view of their first ICHSL Championship slipped away as they fell 6-2 at the final horn.
The Frozen Tide did everything they could and look to strike back next week as they play La Salle College High School in the first round of the Flyers Cup on Tuesday night. Come out and support you Frozen Tide!
