BASEBALL,CREW,

ROLL TIDE!

Baseball

The Devon Prep Baseball team is excited to get back out on the field for the 2025 season! The most exciting thing for baseball this year, is that the team views this as the starting point of what is going to be a great era of Devon Prep Baseball. The Varsity roster is extremely young and our freshman class so far has shown maturity, poise & strong work ethic. The Tides mission this year as a group is to embrace the team mentality of baseball, which stems from communicating at a high level & really being selfless.

It’s easy to be excited about every player on the roster for one reason or another. Every player has shown a skill, that is going to help them succeed in a game and our job as coaches is to identify the skill & put them in a spot to shine.

The Tide is going to demand, and expect that this group is going to compete relentlessly. And if we can become elite at the less attractive details like base running, advanced catch play & hit situationally, we should absolutely be competitive in every game we play.

Crew

The Devon Prep Rowing Team returns to the river this spring with a strong mix of experienced and novice rowers. The majority of the team has less than a year of rowing experience, so the focus of this season will be to develop technique and build a strong aerobic base. The team is led by its captain, Matt Norton, and Nishan Shamlian, who provide senior leadership as both have been members of the team since their freshman year. Their guidance and commitment to training will set the tone for the season.

Practices take place after school in Conshohocken at the Hines Rowing Center and all races will be in Philadelphia on the Schuylkill River.

Lacrosse

The 2025 Lacrosse team returns with a balance of experience, leadership qualities, and some new, but also familiar, roles to fill on the offensive and defensive side of the ball. Key returners include Senior goaltender Matt Pascale ‘25, accompanied on the defensive end of the field with Brandon Petticord ‘25, Shane Dugan ’25, Owen Raymond ‘26, Ben O'Nell ’26, Chuck Finnegan ‘26. Seniors Brendan Bachman ‘25 and Danny Mongiello ‘25 will look to make a huge impact as defensive short-stick midfielders along with other underclassmen looking to contribute.

Zach Sebra will look to dominate on the faceoff X, accompanied by offensive players Ryan Kane, Kieran Crossan ‘25, Dylan Kenneson ’25, Shane Doyle ’25, Declan Sullivan ‘26, Jason Kleiner ‘26 and other underclassmen.

The team is excited to get back on the field with each other to have a memorable season, grow relationships as teammates with each other, and have a strong identity of playing together and finding each other's strengths.

Tennis

The Devon Prep Tide Tennis team is primed to have a big year this coming Spring. Coming off of a 3rd place finish in the PCL a season ago, as well as finishing 2nd in the district, the guys are ready to take the next step and push for a PCL and district title in 2025. Unlike previous seasons, the tennis team has a large core group of seniors who are ready to lead the team. Experience is now a massive strength for this year’s group, and we also have a very solid group of younger players who are ready to compete for varsity spots.

There is plenty of opportunity in front of the team this year, and it all starts when the Tide takes on the Malvern Prep Friars on Friday, February 14th to kick off non-league play!

Track & Field

With the spring season on the horizon, the Devon Prep Track and Field team is gearing up for an exciting and competitive schedule. The team will compete in three Philadelphia Catholic League (PCL) meets while also testing their skills at five major invitationals: the North Penn Open, Cardinal Invitational, Explorer Invitational, Whippets Invitational, and the Trojan Track Classic. As May approaches, the focus will shift to the championship season, where the team will aim for strong performances in the PCL Championships, Districts, and ultimately, States.

This year’s squad features a large contingent of freshmen, bringing fresh energy and potential to the program. Additionally, several new upperclassmen have joined, adding depth and versatility to the lineup. A solid core of returners will provide leadership and experience, setting the tone for success.

Key athletes to watch this season include Carter Shaak ‘25 in the Long Jump, Sam Kleiner ‘25 in the 800m, and Charlie Krug ’25, Jack Bonner ’25, Nick Kashuba ’25, and Daniel Cline-Thomas ‘25 in their respective events. With a strong mix of new talent and returning contributors, Devon Prep is poised for an exciting season filled with growth, competition, and standout performances.

Stay tuned as the Devon Prep Tide hit the track and look to make their mark this spring!

Good luck to all of our studentathletes and coaches on their upcoming 2025 seasons!
