Lobbyists and multinational corporations are however undermining the European ideal by threatening the environment, the economy, the labour market, our fundamental freedoms and human rights. We will not let this happen, we will fight for the future of our Europe. Your voice is more important than you think. The European elections are on 25th May 2014.

For years, Europe has taken the lead in protecting the environment and preserving nature, but the energy and nuclear power companies fight the turnaround in energy policy. Europe is granting more subsidies to nuclear, coal, oil and gas than to future clean energy sources. Over 500 billion € are paid to Putin, Saudi Arabia & Co for energy imports each year. We are striving to create a Europe based on clean energy as an engine for protecting the environment and creating employment. Stop nuclear & coal energy. United for a turnaround in European energy policy.
> Rollout a program for a nuclear-free Europe. No taxpayers’ money for new nuclear power plants. > 2030 Climate Protection Plan: Double the amount of renewable energy. Reduce greenhouse gases and energy consump tion by half. > Make ”climate sinners“ foot the bill. Invest in renewable energy instead of coal, nuclear power and fracking. > Fewer trucks – more railways. Against traffic and fine particle pollution.

Europe’s consumers are increasingly opting for organic and GMO-free products. However, corporations like Monsanto are attempting to determine what goes on our plates. Healthy nutrition and guaranteed food quality are threatened by cheap production, the proposed free trade agreement with the U.S. (TTIP) and subsidies for mass production. We are committed to organic farming and local products. Keep genetic engineering out of fields and feeding troughs. In favour of organic farming without pesticides and genetic engineering.

Europe-wide labelling and stringent quality control. > Preserve seed diversity and Europe-wide protection of bees. > Austria to be the model green region: Doubling the number of organic farms. > Animal Welfare. Stop factory farming and transporting live animals across Europe.

Austria has benefited enormously from the European economic area. However, 1,000 billion euros are lost to tax fraud every year in the EU. While high-risk traders collect huge profits, we all pay the bill for the billions of euros lost. A recent high profile example is the Hypo Alpe Adria Bank. We therefore call for total transparency and clear rules and regulations for the economy. Fair taxes instead of more taxes.
> Invest in our future instead of bailing out high-risk traders and bankers. Effective rules for banks and implemen tation of a financial transaction tax. > Parliaments must decide laws, not lobbies: Maximum transparency for every legislative proposal. > We support enforced elimination of tax havens and encouragement of small businesses. > European solidarity instead of „Back to the Schilling.“

We live, work and study in a united Europe. The economic crisis is hitting the weakest members of our society hardest. One out of every four young people in the EU is unemployed. At the same time, the cost of living is rising for all of us. Solidarity and justice is our European answer: Through education at its best, new employment opportunities and high social standards. An affordable life for everyone is our goal.
> Learn from the best in Europe: Every young person should get the opportunity of studying abroad for a year.
Together we can create new opportunities for our younger generation.

Europe stands for democracy, human rights, prosperity and freedom, whilst at the same time refugees are drowning on Europe’s borders in the Mediterranean. NSA & friends infiltrate our privacy, which is why we stand up for fundamental rights and genuine participation in decision making processes. In our Europe of solidarity, freedom and human rights, issues must be decided by parliaments, not in back rooms.
