McCarthy Catholic College Opens New Facilities Students attending McCarthy Catholic College will benefit from the newly completed $2,282,000 hospitality, food technology, science and general learning facilities. “Along with the recently announced Trades Training Centre, these new facilities will allow students at McCarthy to begin their skills training,” said Federal Member for Lindsay, David Bradbury. “By the time these students have completed their studies, they will have built up a skills set that will allow them to reach their full potential and secure future employment.” See page 12

Local Awards Winner Congratulations to the Emu Florist for their 4th year of winning the Best Florist Award in the recent Penrith

Press Business Awards. Nepean River Holiday Village in Emu Plains has won the Caravan & Camping Industry Award of Excellence for the Best South Coast Holiday Park in the 3½ -4 star category. Village apprentices, Rebecca and Melissa Smith, both won awards of Excellence as Trainees of the Year.

Orchid Show The Blue Mountains and Penrith District Orchid Society will be holding their Annual Spring Show on Saturday 12th September, 9am - 5:00pm, and Sunday 13th September, 9am 4:00pm, at The Melrose Hall, corner of The Great Western Highway and Park St, Emu Plains. Admission: $2 for Adults, $1 for children and pensioners. Members of the public are warmly invited to come and see the wide variety of beautiful orchids on display. There will also be a sales area with plenty of orchid plants

available for purchase. Experienced orchid growers and local Leonay residents for 36 years, Frank and Julianna Wall will be available to answer questions over the weekend.

Emu Plains Cricket The Emu Plains Cricket Club will be holding registration days for the very popular Milo In2CRICKET program (58 year olds) at McDonalds Emu Plains on Saturday 26th September, 3rd and 10th October between 11am-12pm. More details are on the website at www.epcc.com.au
