Jessica’s win in France 16 year old Jessica Fox from Leonay has won two gold medals in the Canoe Slalom Junior World Championships in France in the single canoe C1 and kayak K1 women events. See page 5

Buring House The Leonay heritage home of Leo Buring the wine maker is finally being restored having been derelict for 25 years. Leo and his wife, Nay called their home Leonay which became the name of the present suburb. Local builder Ben Hitchon has spent two years restoring the home on Leonay Parade to its former glory and is ready to move in with his family in the next few weeks. Over the years the house had been vandalised with every pane of glass smashed, ceilings

Tammy’s Boxing in Barbados Emu Plains resident, Tammy Taylor, is the first Australian female boxer to hold a title after winning the national welterweight title at the end of last year. She has been selected for the Australian team to fight in Barbados and is trying to find sponsorship. Female boxing is now an Olympic sport but neither the Australian Sports Commission nor the Government are providing any funding. See page 3
