Lend Lease Announces Local Partnership to Support Home-Based Businesses Lend Lease has announced a partnership with the Penrith Valley Business Enterprise Centre (BEC) that will offer support to the large number of homebased businesses in the Jordan Springs and Ropes Crossing communities. The partnership will give home-based business owners access to a support network of business advisers who will provide guidance and practical expertise in establishing, managing and growing their businesses. Both start-up and developed home-based businesses, as well as small to medium enterprises that have a connection to these growing communities, will benefit from this new network of support. The agreement has the potential to build capacity, increase employment and facilitate economic growth in the Penrith and Blacktown areas. Peter Berger, Chairman of Penrith Valley BEC says this partnership will help small businesses in the local area to thrive: “With the number of small and medium sized businesses in Jordan Springs and Ropes Crossing expected to grow substantially in the near future, it’s important that support is readily available to assist them,” he says.

A Green Gift to the Western Sydney Community
The West is now the proud owner of one of Sydney’s most significant parks, with Wianamatta Regional Park handed over to public ownership last month. At 900 hectares, Wianamatta Regional Park is more than four times larger than Centennial Park, and boasts natural bushland and a population of wild emus and kangaroos. The park runs between Lend Lease communities of Jordan Springs and Ropes Crossing, and up until now was privately owned by Lend Lease. The transfer of land to NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service means the entire Western Sydney community will now be able to enjoy this huge green space together. Lend Lease’s Managing Director of Communities, Matthew Mears said the handover of Wianamatta Regional Park has been made possible as part of Lend Lease’s wider commitment to early delivery of community facilities, including the lake, playgrounds and shopping centre at Jordan Springs.
“This beautiful green space promises to be one of Sydney’s biggest and best public parks, and will be a positive contributor to the Western Sydney landscape, recreational and social environment. “Parks are not only great places to get active or to take in the surrounding natural environment, they also facilitate opportunities to meet your neighbours and create a sense of belonging within the community. ”The Jordan Springs and Ropes Crossing communities, have been designed to encourage strong ties between our residents and the local area, and the opening up of this significant park is an important contribution to that vibrant community spirit,” he said.

FAITH – ST DAVIDS CHURCH LLANDILO Rev John Hebblewhite A: Lot 257A Seventh Ave, Llandilo P: 4736 3592 Service Times: 10am each Sunday, with additional services held: 2pm on the Third Sunday and 8am on the Fourth Sunday
The Festival of the Resurrection is major Feast in the Christian Calendar. It was Saint Paul during his establishing of Christian communities following his conversion, who argue that if Christ was not risen then faith was in vain. It is interesting to note the varying and often contradictory record of the Resurrection found amongst the New Testament writers when giving their arguments for belief. What is certain is that as they struggled to come to terms with what had happened in their lives so too did the problem of narrative become real. Even today, some 2000 years later arguments relating to the resurrection are many and varied. To those who accept the reality while recognizing the obstacles that are in place to prove that Jesus the Christ actually returned to life, a new a spiritual depth and dimension is provided to understanding the meaning of life and death. To those who cannot accept the Resurrection deprive themselves of this contribution. Belief provides contemplation on the reality that while the progress of philosophy and religion provides a kaleidoscope of changing thought, life and death do have meaning. Life can be beautiful. Life can be cruel. Each of us live within that reality. It is belief in the life and work of Jesus the Christ and particularly in his resurrection this reality takes on another dimension. Life ending in death allows the totality of humanity, both corporate and individual to have the powerful hope that death is not the end. Rather at death we find the meaning of life
and die to a greater meaning for existence. Then nothing can separate from the Love of God. It was the Christian Council of Bishops meeting in Nicea in 325CE that set the date for Easter as the first Sunday after the full moon during the March equinox. Thus the festival is known as a ‘moveable’ feast unlike the date of Christmas which is fixed. The word Easter comes from the Old English and is itself derived from the goddess first mentioned in the writings of the English historian Bede, who lived in the 7th century CE. There are two delightful practices associated with Easter. The first is the Easter bunny or Easter hare. In the northern hemisphere the rabbits and hares as they appeared singled to the farmer that the season of Spring had commenced. It was the Lutherans in Germany that started the practice of the bunny giving eggs to children if they had “been good” while in the Orthodox churches the practice of giving the Easter egg arose. This was because during the season of Lent eggs were not eaten. They were cooked (and often decorated) and enjoyed when the Lenten fast was concluded. On Easter Day the greeting is “Christ is Risen” with the reply “He is Risen indeed” From all at Saint David’s a Holy Easter Rev John Hebblewhite

Disappointment. The moment when you admit to yourself that the dream isn’t coming true. The moment when there’s no longer any reason to keep looking forward and expecting it to be realised. The moment when your hope dies. Business ventures fail. The weather doesn’t suit our plans. Sports teams lose. Relationships breakdown. It happens to all of us from time to time. In significant and also in small ways. Sometimes it knocks us for six, sometimes we merely shrug it off and keep going without a second thought. Usually, the bigger our hopes the harder our disappointment hits. Imagine how the disciples must have felt when Jesus was crucified. Their friend, their teacher, their leader of 3 years, suddenly dead. But more than that, he was the one they were hoping in; hoping would be God’s promised Rescuer and King, God’s solution to their greatest problems. That first Easter weekend must have been an incredibly dark and discouraging
time for them, as they mourned the death of their hopes along with the death of their friend Jesus. But what a turn-around on Sunday morning! Jesus rose from the dead and at the same time resurrected the hope of his disciples. Because Jesus defeated death, those who trust in him have their hope securely placed. He can never die, so neither can their hope. Of all people on earth, Jesus’ followers have a truly living hope! “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.” 1 Peter 1:3 Toby Campbell, Associate Minister Service Times: 8am @ Christ Church Castlereagh (Church Lane, Castlereagh) 8am Traditional Style Service 9:30 am, 6:30 pm @ St Toms Cranebrook (29 Callisto Dr, Cranebrook) Contemporary style services

The Healthy Body Company to Open in Jordan Springs
The community of Jordan Springs are excited to welcome The Healthy Body Company, opening its doors for business on Monday 20th April. Located at 65 Watergum Drive, will be a brand new, state of the art physiotherapy and allied health centre unique to the area. Though they have long been providing fantastic physiotherapy services, they know that their clients need more than that. At The Healthy Body Company, they will be offering a range of services including physiotherapy, dietetics and exercise rehabilitation for specific injuries. Traditionally physiotherapists have focussed on fixing an injury. This is useful and great physio’s can achieve great results. However, they recognise that this is only part of the story. They know that other lifestyle factors probably contributed to the injury occurring and this is where they see their strength. They have a whole team of health professionals to help you to be the very best you can be.
Experience is certainly the key with The Healthy Body Company, with over 17 years in Penrith working as the Nepean Physiotherapy Centre. Finalists in the 2015 Australian Small Business Champion Awards show they are truly experts in their industry. Jordan Springs already brings the very best of everything about the region, most importantly wonderful people and a great active outdoor lifestyle. Residents will now be treated to these fantastic new physiotherapy facilities, high quality caring services with support to help you to be the very best you can be and extended hours. They know that lots of people in our region travel to work and they will be here before and after work for your convenience. Forget the challenges of parking in Penrith, they have on site parking and are an easy walk from just about anywhere in Jordan Springs. The team at The Healthy Body Company in Jordan Springs will include Jude Holroyd, the Principal Physiotherapist, many will know him for his work with Nepean Physiotherapy Centre and Touch Football NSW, Susan Williams, an Accredited Practicing Dietician and Health Coach and Kathryn Charlton the Office Manager. The team will be growing fast, so locals interested in working with them should get in touch! The team has also been getting out and about meeting residents and workers in the Jordan Springs area. Humans Need Hugs Touch is so important. Infants that have all of their needs met but don’t get hugs, affection or eye contact are at risk of developing a condition called ‘failure to thrive’. Dr Virginia Satir, a world renowned family therapist, said that humans need‌4 hugs per day for survival, 8 hugs per day for maintenance, 12 hugs per day for growth. How many hugs have your kids had today? It’s easy to give our little kids hugs because they are frequently climbing all over us. As our kids get older, we need to remember to give them hugs too. I tell my big boys “you’re never too old or too big for a hugâ€?. Parents who have a number of children do the math. They say “I have 4 kids so that means I’ll be giving 48 hugs per day, that’s a lot of hugsâ€?. Those parents who decide to give their kids’ hugs find lots of ways to meet the quota (hint: group hugs), and they report that they feel closer to their children, and their children have better behaviour as a result. When you have a strong relationship with your child, he or she is more inclined to listen to you and do as you ask. And why do hugs create all this goodness? Hugs release oxytocin in the brain. Oxytocin is a ‘peace, love, and mung beans’ hormone that counteracts the nasty stress hormone called Cortisol. Go on! Give your kids more hugs. The nice thing about a hug is that while you’re giving one, you’re getting one in return. It’s a win-win!

7 Tips to get you Through Easter Wow! Easter comes around so quickly after Christmas, more family parties and meeting up with friends. Another celebration to remind you that your loved one isn’t there and you feel you should look happy and continue your life as normal. Quick tips to help you survive Easter: 1. Be gentle with yourself – Taking care of yourself is your first priority. If you feel like you need to be alone that’s ok just be alone. 2. Make time to grieve – Maybe you’d like to spend time with others but then feel overwhelmed and need to be somewhere with yourself. 3. Listen to music – choose relaxing music, slow your breathing down and get lost in the beauty of the music. 4. Have a cuppa – I love this one. It’s time to sit and be with yourself or if you want to talk about your loved one, invite a friend to talk about old times with you. 5. Have fun with kids – sometimes kids will sit and colour in quietly, calming your mind and body. Alternatively kick a soccer ball around the back yard, and take in the happy endorphins. 6. Share your feelings – let people know how you’re feeling, the level of support you’ll need and what you’re prepared to participate in. 7. Create new rituals – find new ways to celebrate, get creative. Make new traditions to acknowledge your loved one. Cait’s passion is to help people who have suffered loss. If you’re looking for a new hobby that will keep you mentally fresh, introduce you to new friends and provide entertainment for yourself and others, Penrith Harmony are looking for new singers. Singers are always welcome to come along and learn the skills of singing in harmony, have fun and perhaps be able to join them at future events. Check out their website at www.penrithharmony.com or contact Paul on 4735 2637.

Spend 30 Minutes with me to see if I can Save YOU *$500 or More per Month off your Mortgage Repayments I have recently helped someone in your area reduce their loan repayments by $523.17 per month through refinancing their home loan and other debts. In fact for 78% of the clients I see who are struggling with their mortgage and debt repayments, I manage to save them on average $500.00 per month. Now that’s a lot of additional monthly cash for most households! Perhaps I can help you if you’ve been thinking: • We must reduce our loan repayments, • I wonder if we could consolidate some of our debts, • We really need some additional funds to renovate, install a pool or purchase that significant item you’ve been trying so hard to save for (holiday?), • I’d love to be able to purchase an investment property. Please pick up the phone and call me on 4732 5888 or 0423 661 196 for a free no obligation assessment of your current situation and borrowing capacity. Just think about what you could do with a spare $500 cash each month? A lot no doubt! Don’t just think about it, let’s see if we can find it for you! I look forward to hearing from you.

5 Lifestyle Changes for Healthy Weight Loss!! Real weight loss comes with lasting, healthy lifestyle changes. Try to make the following changes over the next few weeks to see some great long lasting results. 1. TV Time: Swap the time you use to sit and watch your favourite shows for exercise. If you must watch, use the time to burn a few calories. Stand up and do some squats, lunges or sit-ups. 2. Sleep: Most adults need an average of eight hours of sleep each night. If you’re not getting adequate amounts of rest, you’re more likely to be hungry, overeat, and gain weight. 3. Drink Choices: If you’re one of the millions hooked on soft drinks, alcohol, or other sweetened beverages, your weight loss goals may remain out of reach until you replace these drinks with water. You should also know that your brain often confuses thirst with hunger, so at the first sign of hunger, grab a glass of water. 4. Breakfast: If you try cutting calories by skipping breakfast, you’ll be excessively hungry by mid-morning. As a result, the healthy calories you would have eaten at breakfast are replaced with calorie-filled snacks and an over-sized lunch. 5. Physical Activity: Weight loss is about burning more calories than you consume. Therefore, it makes sense that dieting and exercise must go hand in hand. The quickest and most permanent weight loss comes as a result of a combination of healthy eating and consistent, challenging workouts. I’m here to help you meet and maintain your fitness and weight loss goals. Call or email me today to get started on a fitness program that will get you on the fast track to your best body ever.
“Penrith Valley BEC is one of the leading Centres in Australia and will provide much needed business skills and networking opportunities for home-based businesses, to help them maximise their potential.” Arthur Ilias, General Manager of Communities for NSW/ACT at Lend Lease, says the partnership will offer a diverse range of services that would otherwise be unattainable to smaller businesses in the area: “Small business owners often lack confidence and feel isolated when starting out. Our partnership with Penrith Valley BEC will open up opportunities for our resident businesses to participate in business diagnostics, short courses and the establishment of a network of support from other businesses.”

You will enjoy a sausage sizzle, tea, coffee, soft drinks (rotary supplied), cake stall, merchandise stall, obedience display, agility display (and public participation), competitions for pets and owners, face painting, lucky door prize, raffle. 100% of funds raised stays in the local community to assist RSPCA Volunteer Branches and regional shelters to help more animals. If you cannot make it on the day for the Million Paws Walk, you can donate online at: https://mpw-nsw-2015.everydayhero. com/au/OrchardHillsVeterinaryHospital. Every year, the RSPCA NSW cares for and protects our state’s neglected, abused, injured and strayed animals. Last year, a staggering 46,558 animals came to the RSPCA NSW for help.
The RSPCA is NOT an agency of the Australian Government and therefore relies on the generosity of the community to continue it’s vital daily work. Along with shelters, volunteer branches and Inspectors, they also fund an education team that visits schools, universities and community groups to educate the importance of treating all living things with kindness. Thank you for making the RSPCA NSW your charity of choice. Check out our website for more information www.orchardhillsvet. com.au or join us on Facebook. We look forward to meeting you and your pets at Orchard Hills Veterinary Hospital, and please feel free to pop in anytime and meet the team.
