You can't keep a good man down at Easter! 'A man's gotta know his limitations.' And our big limitation is death. Unless Jesus returns, 100% of people alive today will die. It is the one certainty. There are no exceptions. When it comes to our world, no-one gets out of here alive. But Easter celebrates an event which claims that a real live human being, Jesus of Nazareth, returned to bodily life after having died. And what is claimed is not just a resuscitation. Jesus did not just return to life only to die again later, as did Lazarus in John chapter 11. According to the bible, Jesus was resurrected with a transformed body, never to die again. In fact, according to the Bible, it was impossible for death to hold Jesus down: 'But God raised him [Jesus] from the dead, freeing him from the agony of death, because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on him.' (Acts 2:24 NIV) How is it that what is impossible for the rest of us -- resurrection -- is a certainty for Jesus? Well firstly, it is because Jesus never sinned (2 Cor-
inthians 5:21; Hebrews 4:15). Unlike each of us, Jesus of Nazareth always in every circumstance submitted to God his Father. Secondly, it suggests that there is more to Jesus than meets the eye. When confronted by the risen Jesus, doubting Thomas finally had to confess him 'My Lord and My God' (John 20:28). The New Testament teaches that Jesus is God who became man (John 1:1, 18; Colossians 1:19; 2:9; Hebrews 1:3, 8). Jesus is the creator and sustainer of the universe, our maker, and thus worthy of our worship (John 1:1-3; Colossians 1:15-20; Hebrews 1:2-3). Given this, the miracle is not Jesus' resurrection, but his death. For the bible teaches that we die because we sin (Romans 6:23). But Jesus never sinned. Why then did he die? It was for us. So the bible teaches: 'He [Jesus] suffered death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone' (Hebrews 2:9 NIV). That is the wonder of Good Friday. A good man died on behalf of sinners like you and me, to bring us to God (1 Peter 3:18). Jesus took our punishment on the cross, so that we don't have to. The punishment that brought
us peace was upon him (Isaiah 53:5). This is truly amazing grace. And this grace and forgiveness comes to everyone who turns to Jesus as Lord and believes in him as Saviour. Why don't you turn to Christ and trust in him this Easter? He is only a prayer away. For whoever calls on the Lord Jesus Christ will be saved. Matt Olliffe Minister, Anglican Mulgoa

stroyed in the Christmas Day bushfire of 2001, leaving absolutely nothing of value to be salvaged. But this did not dampen the enthusiasm of the volunteers and the community and the Centre was rebuilt and has been trading ever since. We would like to continue this service to the local community of Warragamba and surrounding area. The Centre is run by volunteers who give up their time generously for the good of others in the community and the Church. We encourage everyone to come in and have a browse and you might be surprised with what you might find. The Bargain Centre is open Tuesday and Thursday 9.30am to 4.00pm; Saturday 9am to 12pm each week.
The Parish Bargain Centre was founded in 1977 and has proven to be an invaluable ministry for the Parish. It all started when Helen Pomfrett, with the help of members of the Youth Club decided to raise money for the Church and help the local community. The Bargain Centre has become the place for many people in the district to visit; particularly so when they are looking for clean used clothing at the right price. The role of the Centre is still the same as it was in 1977. It has always been the place for people to come and browse and buy cheap goods. The Centre was completely de-

Be MoneySmart and take control of your finances A new website to help consumers navigate their finances is MoneySmart.gov.au, developed by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC). It was launched in Melbourne on World Consumer Rights Day by Assistant Treasurer Bill Shorten and Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasurer David Bradbury. The website is the first part of the National Financial Literacy Strategy and will form part of the Government’s public awareness and education campaign announced last year to help consumers work out the best banking deals for them. “This website is a fantastic way for people to see how different life events will impact on their finances,” said Mr Shorten. “There are 26 calculators and tools, including specially-designed mobile phone apps, to help people find the answers to their questions about money. “Whether you are signing up for your first mobile phone contract, starting a family or saving for retirement,
the MoneySmart website offers independent, unbiased guidance.” Mr Bradbury, who has responsibility for consumer policy and financial literacy, said that a better understanding of personal finances can empower people to make better choices. “The Gillard Government wants people to be better informed about the choices they make so that they can take control of their own finances,” he said. “We think it’s important that people take into account all of the risks and benefits before making decisions on their finances. “Understanding more about your financial health can help you set goals and grow your wealth. Often the first steps are the hardest to take, but something as simple as working out a household budget with the help of MoneySmart can make a big difference.” Mr Shorten said the MoneySmart website would also be an important part of the Government’s public awareness campaign to help consumers get the best possible deal out of their financial institutions. “The Gillard Government wants to make sure that all Australians have access to high-quality, independent information to help them find a better
banking deal and switch banks. “MoneySmart will provide a range of calculators and information to make it easier for consumers to compare the rates and fees on offer at the banks and find one that suits them best.” Mr Bradbury said empowering consumers was at the heart of the Government’s banking reform package, and the new website would help to do that. “Active, well-informed consumers will make the banks sit up and take notice and drive greater competition in the banking sector. “I encourage everyone to go to www.moneysmart.gov.au to equip yourself with the latest information and be ready to take your business down the street to a better bank.” The National Financial Literacy Strategy is focussed on delivering quality financial literacy education through schools, workplaces, higher education institutions and in the community. The Gillard Government has also provided $10 million over three years to ASIC to deliver face-to-face financial literacy training for more than 6,000 teachers as part of the new Australian Curriculum.

Wallacia Public School Wallacia Public School is collecting old unwanted mobile phones. In 2010, Sony Foundation Australia, together with CanTeen, launched ‘You Can’, a national fundraising campaign to build youth cancer centres across Australia. You Can’s major fundraising mechanic calls on all Australians to recycle their old mobile phones. Sony Foundation has partnered with an international recycling company to swap these phones for money. Wallacia Public School can help young Australians survive cancer by collecting old mobile phones. Plus, they will be rewarded for their efforts. The ‘You Can’ Schools Program encourages primary schools to donate old mobiles in exchange for educational products such as digital cameras, interactive whiteboards and Sony laptops. By recycling your phone, you will be reducing your carbon footprint whilst also making a huge difference to the lives of young people with cancer. If you have an old mobile phone it can be dropped off into the YOU CAN Box in the office of Wallacia Public School, 1573-1585 Mulgoa Rd, Wallacia Phone: 4773 8433. We are collecting phones for the next 10 months. The more phones the better the prizes and more young people we can help. Healthy Hot Canteen A healthy school canteen is becoming an important part of our children’s lives. Having the school canteen serve a healthy lunch reassures parents that their children are eating a nutritional meal. Holy Family School canteen serves a healthy hot lunch two days per week thanks to Pietro Pizzeria - Restaurant. Pietro cookes pasta with m e a t balls and cheesy pizza which is delivered hot to the school and sent straight to the class rooms for the childrent to eat at lunch. It is all totally preservative and additive free. It has proved to be a success, with the children who are very excited to eat a healthy lunch which falls into the categories of Green and Amber - in
healthy canteen terms, Green = eat as much as you like and Amber = eat in moderation.

Save Power Kits now available Wollondilly Shire residents can learn how to save power and money at home by borrowing a Save Power Kit from Wollondilly Library. Mayor, Cr Michael Banasik said the free kits were part of the NSW Government’s Save Power program. “There are many easy, low-cost things we can do at home to use less power and save money on bills, without changing our lifestyles,” he said. “The Save Power Kit contains tools and instructions that can help people find ways to save power, reduce their power bills and our impact on environment. “Best of all, it can be borrowed for free from the Picton Library Branch and must also be returned to this Branch,” said Cr Banasik. The kits are the latest in a series of education initiatives to help NSW householders learn more about their power use, developed as part of the Department of Environment Climate Change and Water NSW (DECCW) Save Power program. DECCW Director General Lisa Corbyn said the library kit tools can be used to measure power use from appliances, find out where energy is being wasted and learn how to improve efficiency to save on bills. “The kits can be borrowed for free from your local library and used in the comfort of your own home to work out what’s using the most power, what’s wasting power and the easiest ways you can save,” Ms Corbyn said. The kit comes with a guidebook to get you started and an action plan to record results and plan your improvements. For more information, visit DECCW’s Save Power website at www. savepower.nsw.gov.au/librarykit or contact the Wollondilly Library on 4677
Cellular Health Analysis… How old are you, really? Everyone can recall their date of birth, but wouldn’t it be great to know how well your body has aged in comparison? At Hopewood, we now offer a ‘Cellular Health Analysis,’ which can help you discover how well your body is ageing. If you’ve been neglecting your health and nutrition, you may discover your body is not performing as well as it should be. You could be in fact, in great need of some TLC. But it’s not too late to change those habits and reduce your body’s age. It starts with a simple 10 minutes test. What is a Cellular Heath Analysis? The Cellular Health Analysis is a scientifically validated test giving accurate and measurable readings of how well your body and cells are functioning. Happy Easter!! Chocolate Dangers at Easter We all know Easter is a fun time spent with family and chocolate...lots and lots of delicious chocolate! Easter is a great time for the human members of the family, but the infamous Easter egg hunt can end in tragedy for our four legged friends. Chocolate contains theobromine and caffeine, which when ingested by a dog or cat, causes vomiting, diarrhoea, hyperactivity, increased heart rate, restlessness, muscle twitching, increased urination, excessive panting and if left untreated can be rapidly fatal. For example, if a 10kg dog eats 100gm of milk chocolate, vomiting and diarrhea will occur. If a 10kg dog eats 250gm of milk chocolate, there is a risk of potential death if untreated. Dark chocolate contains more theobromine and caffeine, and 100gm can be fatal. If your dog does accidentally eat some chocolate it is vitally important that they are seen within 30 minutes to an hour by your local veterinarian. The veterinarian will give an injection to make your pet vomit, which removes most of the toxins from the body. Sometimes, your pet will be hospitalised, where intravenous fluids may be used, an enema or stomach www.mulgoagazette.com.au
pump may be required, and we may also need to use muscles relaxants and activated charcoal. There are a few simple precautions you can take to ensure that your pet has a safe Easter: • Hide your Easter eggs in areas which cannot be accessed by your pet. • Ensure small children do not give your pet any chocolate. • Ensure all chocolate is kept out of reach from your pets. Dogs have a good sense of smell and will find chocolate in kid’s schoolbags! • Distract your pet with their favourite treats while chocolate is around. Colouring in Competition In the spirit of Easter what better way to brighten up our clinic, than to host a colouring in competition. All entries will be displayed on the walls of the veterinary hospital. You can download the entry form from our website www.orchardhillsvet. com.au or pop into the veterinary hospital and pick up a copy. Post your entries to Orchard Hills Veterinary Hospital, 377 Wentworth Road, Orchard Hills, NSW 2748, or drop them in at the veterinary hospital. All entries must be received by Thursday 28th April 2011. Please ensure your full contact details (name, address, phone number, email) are on the back of the entry form or April 2011
