Do You Work From Home?
– would you appreciate good company? Working at home has many benefits, but one of the downfalls is the social isolation. In fact, sometimes you don’t realise how much you miss the day to day social interaction until you read something like this article. Self care, which includes connecting with others, is important for you and your business. It invigorates, stimulates and nourishes you. And when you’re feeling your best (mentally, physically and emotionally) your business will be at its best, too. This is where a Rotary Club can be ideal. As an organisation primarily set up to provide good company with local people, it can be ideal for a man or women who spend most of their week at home. The Rotary Club of Wallacia-Mulgoa Valley covers the area of Wallacia, Mulgoa, Luddenham, Silverdale, Warragamba and Glenmore Park. We meet Wednesday evenings, 7.15pm – 8.45pm, at the Mulgoa Reception Function Rooms (1440 Mulgoa Rd, between Mulgoa and Wallacia). Din-
ner is provided, we then have interesting speakers and other entertaining activities. Pay us a ‘look-see’ visit and be our guest for the evening. Enquiries: contact Jan on 0428 289 919

Take The Most Valuable Gift of All Christmas time is the time of giving and receiving unwanted gifts. Choice recently found that 1 in 5 of us receives gifts that disappoint and 1 in 5 of us re-gift the gifts we don't want in an annual adult's version of pass the parcel. Sadly, in this version, the one left with the gift loses! (http://www.choice.com.au/media-and-news/media-releases/2011%20media%20releases/unwanted-christmas-presents-binned.aspx). But maybe we should re-evaluate unwanted gifts. A gift might start off being unwanted, but prove itself valuable over time. At my 21st, I was given a big blue Coleman esky. I smiled on the outside, but on the inside I was non-plused. What would I do with it? We already had a fridge. And who wants to go anywhere without electricity? But later I met the girl I married. She looked at it completely differently. "Wow -- a Coleman!" Her family had done lots of camping. Picnics now had some attraction to me. Now I say it was the one useful asset I brought to our marriage! God is the giver of every good gift we enjoy (James 1:17). Yet, often we don't appreciate his gifts. We don't value them. They are unwanted, sitting there unused or even discarded. What am I going to do with that? I don't need that clogging up my life! Perhaps Jesus Christ to you is just another unwanted gift. You don't see how you need him. Life is doing OK without him. You are unsure whether the gift does what it claims. So many God-botherers and religious people are so eager to re-gift him, that perhaps you think that Jesus, Christianity and the bible is just rubbish in fancy wrapping.

God thinks differently. When we were at our worst, God gave us his best. God so loved the world he gave his only Son (John 3:16). God demonstrates his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:89). Sometimes we don't value things we get for free. But while salvation is free for everyone who trusts Jesus, it was not free for God. It cost him his only Son. It cost Jesus his life. Salvation is a gift from God (Ephesians 2:8-9). It is not given as a wage because of our good works (Romans 4:45). It is given freely, by God's grace, through Jesus' death (Romans 3:21-26). Jesus is God's gift, born 2000 years ago to die on a cross and rise again. I pray we all might reassess how valuable a gift this is. Matt Olliffe Minister, Anglican Parish of Mulgoa

Congratulations Taylor TaylahTsitsikronis from Silverdale has been in the news again with her award for her softball talent at the Awards Night held by the Western Sydney Academy of Sport at Castle Hill RSL on Saturday 26th November. Taylah was presented with the 2011 Woolworths Limited Scholarship for a Female Athlete. She received $5,000 a cash grant to assist with sports participation and education costs. The special guest was three time Olympian and Commonwealth Games medalist, Melinda Gainsford Taylor who offered words of wisdom and inspiration to the upcoming stars of the future at Awards night. The young athletes were captivated by the words of sporting legend Melinda, as she talked them through the good and bad experiences of her career, particularly at the Olympic and Commonwealth Games. She left them with the message “if you believe in yourself, anything is possible” and said how she was excited to be sitting amongst the sporting stars of the future. Taylah is now in South Africa with the under 19 Australian softball team contesting the International Softball Junior Championships.

Luddenham Public School Luddenham Public School motto “Adventure in Learning” demonstrates the life of our students throughout this term. This term our 2012 Kindergarten students completed their transition program that began in Term 3 this year. We had over 90% of our students attend each week and this time enabled all of our students to participate in school readiness activities, make new friends and become familiar with the staff. Over the next two weeks, our students in K-6 will be participating in the Simply Swimming program at Penrith Pool. This program teaches our students how to swim and further develop the skills developed in previous years. We believe that this is an invaluable experience for all students and encourage all of our students to be water wise. In October this term, our Years 5 and 6 students travelled to Canberra with the students from Mulgoa, Orchard Hills and Wallacia Public Schools. We visited Parliament House, Old Parliament House, Australian War Memorial, National Art Gallery, AIS, CSIRO and Questacon. All students behaved responsibly and respectfully and had a terrific time. Our students in Years 3 and 4 travelled to Jenolan Caves for a two day trip exploring the Jenolan caves and Blue Mountains. Our students learnt a lot of new and interesting facts and enjoyed the experience with their friends and teachers. End of Year Celebrations are well under way with our End of Year Concert and Talent Quest on Wednesday 30th November, Presentation Day Thursday 8th December and Year 6 Farewell on Monday 12th December. The staff, students and community wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We look forward to seeing you all in 2012.

Warragamba Preschool Warragamba Preschool has been an important part of the community for 60 years. Over the past 18 months the preschool has undergone changes with the expansion of the building to create 3 rooms to meet the demand within the community for enrolment into our preschool program. Our rooms have also been renamed with our Corrong Room for our two to three year olds, Broula Room our three to four year olds and our new Akuna Room for children in the year prior to starting school. The Akuna room provides an exceptional transition to school program, focusing of school readiness experiences and implementing the literacy program “Ants in the Apple”. Children are also involved in learning experiences that build on their interests, knowledge and understanding of the world around them, children and educators work on projects together some topics explored this year have included: our community; creating a sustainable vegetable patch; dinosaurs, space, occupations and pets. Children are involved in school visits with their preschool educators and parents which provides a supportive and
balanced transition to kindy. Our preschoolers are looking forward to celebrating the end of their preschool lives with their graduation. The Early Years Learning Framework: Belonging, Being and Becoming guides our preschool curriculum, our dedicated educators plan learning experiences for children tapping into their intrinsic desire to learn in areas that are of interest to them. Children are supported and guided throughout the preschool day. Relationships developed and nurtured with children and their families are key in creating respectful, secure and inclusive learning environments for children of the Warragamba and surrounding areas. “We have found the preschool to be second to none and enjoy picking up Jack of an afternoon and hearing about all of the things he has learned for the day. It always amazes us what he comes out with. He told us that Neil Armstrong was the first man to step on the moon. He told us he
learned all about the planets. How Preschool has changed. I also feel that the Preschool has taken on a holistic approach to the Preschool’s teaching and Jacks learning which is so important.... I would highly recommend any parent to take the time to see and consider Warragamba Preschool for their child. Jack is really ready for School” Bianca & George, Parents of 5 year old Jack Warragamba has limited vacancies for 2012. For enrolment information please contact Sue or Kathleen on 4774 1249

Our playing numbers have increased each year and the Club would like to continue that growth in the future. So if you would like to see your children, boys & girls, keep fit and active, learn football in a fun and caring environment, then bring them down in 2012 and sign up with a great little Club. Our registration dates for season 2012 will be held at Mulgoa Valley Football Clubhouse at Littlefields Rd. Gow Park on Saturday 11th and 18th February 10am - 1pm and Wednesday 15th February 6pm - 9pm. All players registering on these dates receive a MVFC beanie. Please Contact Mark Goodwin, the Club President on 0412 966 681 with any enquiries.

Wallacia Public School Term 4 is always a busy time of year for schools and recent events at the school have included Grandparents Day, K-2 Fun Day, and overnight camps for students. Stage 3 students (Years 5 and 6) went to Canberra for three days with students from other local small schools, visiting Parliament House, the Electoral Education Centre, the CSIRO Discovery Centre, the Australian Institute of Sport, Questacon and several other venues. Only one week later Stage 2 students (Years 3 and 4) travelled to Jenolan Caves for an overnight excursion. They explored four of the caves (one by torchlight!) and were lucky enough to see a platypus playing in the Blue Lake.

Mulgoa Public School News
Mulgoa Public School’s unique “dirt pit” and playing on the outdoor “jungle gym”. The children also shared a barbecue lunch, cooked by the P&C Association. Students and teachers enjoyed every minute of their time together and many new friendships were forged. By combining with the other small schools, our students enjoy the same experiences that are available in larger schools, but still retain the many advantages of the small school setting.
Recently students from Mulgoa, Orchard Hills, Luddenham and Wallacia Public Schools joined together for a fun day of games, friendship and laughter. The Kindergarten to Year 2 students from each school met at Mulgoa Public School for activities including outdoor games and sport, art and craft, pavement chalk drawing, bubble blowing, playdough and construction activities. Many of the children enjoyed driving their toy cars in

Patricia Norwood 25 April 1937 - 20 November 2011 Pat lived in Mulgoa for 22 years and was well known, especially as she got around the village in her wheelchair. She recently passed away after a long illness and is sadly missed by her husband Chris, her sons Darren, and Seamus and his wife and her 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. The family was very important to Pat and she was much loved by
them all. She was very generous with a great sense of humour and always prepared to help anyone. She was also very stubborn as well as being courageous with her health and her grandchildren all loved and respected her for her strong principals.

Well done Isaac
Isaac received a Participation Award for his story.
Local author Father Zvonimir from the Holy Family Parish church has been working on a book for 20 years and has finally had it published. It is the complete biography of Cardinal Stepinac, a Croatian Cardinal. Father Zvonimir is originally from Croatia and has written the book in English, a great achievement. He can be contacted through the Parish office at 4773 4321.
Christmas is nearly here Isaac with his cerificate
Isaac Villanueva, a year 1 student at Mulgoa Public School, has vision impairment and has started to learn braille this year. He is learning to read and write braille and the NSW subcommittee of the Australian Braille Authority holds a braille writing competition for students in NSW from preschool to year 12. 40 students entered the competition and Isaac and his family attended the award night at Burwood RSL.
Christmas celebrations have commenced in Warragamba with the annual Breakfast with Santa at Warradale Wigwam. The bright sunny morning started with the children having pancakes and juice for breakfast and the parents having BBQ breakfast humming to the Christmas Carols in the background. Santa arrived with sirens roaring on the Silverdale RFS Fire Truck. The children were treated to a fun filled morning with Christmas Craft, lollies,
balloons and the highlight of course meeting Santa and having a photo. There was even special Reindeer Food which the children could buy to take home to leave for the reindeer on Christmas Eve. Santa said that it is Rudolph’s favorite meal. Wollondilly MP Jai Rowell attended the event, assisted with cooking on the BBQ and provided a donation to the fundraising event. All funds raised will go towards the project - Rejuvination of Warradale Wigwam. The childcare centre has applied for funding under the NSW Government Community Building Partnership Program to update the playground. Warradale Wigwam Director Belinda Griffiths said “The Wigwam playground really needs rejuvenation. The children currently use an umbrella to attend the toilet building in the rain and an awning to the toilet block is essential. After being at school all day the children are always excited to get outside and play and the bikes are a number one choice. A bike track will add social, educational and health benefits to fun the children have whilst bike riding”. For further information please contact Belinda Griffiths on 4774 2450 or Vikki/Helena on 4774 1273
