Red Cockatoo Goes Nationwide

The not for profit Blue Mountains Aboriginal Arts company; Red Cockatoo has just added “Award Winning” to its list of achievements. Having just won the Blue Mountains ARTS Business Advantage Award, Red Cockatoo has also just received the go ahead from ABC Stores Australia to stock their cards in 20 of their stores nationwide. Red Cockatoo Australia started in 2007 when Tracey Allen started assisting local Blue Mountains Aboriginal artists in achieving their goals around creating artworks for the public. “It has been such an exciting time for us all and I think being a social enterprise has finally paid off. People are recognising that this is more than just an eco gift card...purchasing our cards means you care about the environment and you are willing to invest into Aboriginal people, their communi-

The Echo now has two other community editions. The Bullaburra to Linden mid mountains edition is being launched this month. The former Emu & Leonay Gazette has an extended distribution and is now The Echo (Emu Plains to Blaxland). This may be a sign for the recent suggestion that Emu Plains should be included within the Blue Mountains City Council area!
