Hi! I'm Ricardo Luna and I'm in DLT. My position is Interclub Assistant/Service Project Coordinator. I'm from Pacifica, currently a sophomore, and I can't wait to get to meet everyone and getting to work with them!

Hi, my name is Natalia Trujillo the DLT Spirit Task coordinator and the secretary at OHS and I'm currently a freshman. A little thing about me is that I roller skate I'm not like a pro but I do enjoy skating even if it does cause me some injuries. I'm very passionate about my writing. I'm also part of AVID. I have many exciting goals for the term which involve fun activities. It also includes turning in all my tasks that come from having the position, being someone that the members can rely on as a person to bring the division's spirit with fun chants. Having everything organized also as a secretary for my cabinet would also be one of my goals. I want to be the best I can possibly be for my positions. I’m very grateful to have been given these amazing positions.

Hello D42W butterflies!! I'm Kevin Ramirez, a junior at Rio Mesa High School and stepping in as division treasurer for this upcoming term of 2022-2023. I am still gaining the hang of being division treasurer but I hope to contribute a lot and be a worthwhile member of the team. Just so I can give you perspective on who I am, I love to run for my Cross Country and Track team, my favorite color is red, I like listening to rock music, and I like playing the drums. I'm looking forward to working with everyone in the division team and representing Key Club for this upcoming term.

Pacifica is club of the month! We chose Pacifica for June Club of the Month since we have seen their commitment to their club and many members attending DCMs with flying colors! They also kindly volunteered in the M2B Marathon! They have continued to serve despite the pandemic and we see their care for Key Club expanding even more!

Ricardo Luna is our D42W member of the month! He has been one of the most active underclassmen, ultimately setting an example for those around him. He is kind, welcoming, and most of all persevering. This perseverance is evident as he became the new Service project/interclub coordinator assistant for our division. We are so proud of him as he represents pacifica in the division leadership team and can't wait to watch him grow as key leader for our club!

Joseph Martinez is our officer of the month! As only a freshman, he has already assumed the leadership role of social media editor for next year’s term! Joseph also exemplifies incredible service to the community by attending almost every event he is given the opportunity to volunteer at, as well as attending the Kiwanis DCMs. An incredible trait of Joseph's is he is not afraid to put himself out there. He has attended volunteer opportunities on his own, and easily made friends throughout the day.

Bart Bleuel is our Kiwanis member of the month! Bart shows up for Ventura High School’s Key Club even though he is not the official Kiwanis advisor. He always tries attend events and he shows up to all meetings even if they are short notice. He’s shown great dedication to his Key Club community for the month of June!

Norma Salcido is faculty advisor of the month! Channel Islands Key Club nominates our very own faculty advisor, Norma Salcido. Ms. Salcido is very flexible with our schedules and always makes time to host our meetings in her classroom. She is always constantly updating us on service events that our members can participate in. She is welcoming and it makes it easy for us to communicate with her. She has shown us her support during our first meeting with the new cabinet and we are excited to work with her this term.

Members and officers from D42W went to the June DCM. It was a beautiful day out with many people to meet. I met some new friends and we exchanged phone numbers to talk more. We took pictures together with the butterfly mascot and made cards for the seniors. I felt like I really needed this, to be out with friends and nature. The members worked together in color and making the cards. They also interacted with each other and felt like they had a good time. The other members thought it was a good place to have a meeting or and event at since it was in a calm park.

Today our CIHS Raiders volunteered at the Mountains to Beach Marathon, Half Marathon and 5k. Chis students Julcenn Lopez and Naydeleen worked hand in hand with several other volunteers in order to create an unforgettable experience. Students woke up early and headed on over to the event center prepared to do any assigned tasks. Upon arrival they performed the assigned tasks and worked with other volunteers. One student said “It was an amazing experience being here with the runners, I was amazed by their capabilities and would come again.” As shifts ended volunteers were happy to have become a part of such an event.

Oxnard High School recently had a Graduation Rally put on by the school’s seniors. The rally began at 8 pm and ended around 10 pm, and during this time, Key Club was selling delicious food. Our club’s cabinet sold cookies, water, and fresa con crema which raised over $140. Sadly, we had an incident with the hot chocolate that we were going to sell, because the water heater broke down. However, the club overcame the situation by selling the water that was supposed to be used for the steamy drink. Mrs. Thomas, our club advisor, was fortunately able to attend, as she was normally busy. Everyone enjoyed our food as they watched the performances, and Key Club went home satisfied.

Pacifica Key Club hosted a meeting of 20 students on May 25, 2022 to go over division updates, triton transition, and a possible upcoming after school hangout. First, we kicked it off with an icebreaker of pictionary. I had a website to host the games on, however it was blocked by school servers, so we improvised and played regular Pictionary instead on a whiteboard. After that, Hazel went over division updates and we celebrated Ricardo Luna who earned a spot on the division team! Then we talked about how to submit service hours through our secretary’s google form, and how to apply for Triton Transition which is a freshman orientation led by upperclassmen at Pacifica. We added an interest form for a possible after school hangout; however after the meeting, we decided to scrap the idea because we did not want to rush the event and were unsure of how successful the turnout would be.

The Beach Clean up event is one of our clubs most enjoyable events located in Ventura. This monthly event has helped our volunteers help our community in an impactful way. In the event volunteers help remove litter left on the beach such as cigarettes, fast food trash, and anything harmful that would be left out. Members can work together and go in groups to roam the beach and spot out any trash. This event not only helps our beaches become clean but also gives out team bonding and enjoyment time at the beach. For myself I love helping my community so with helping out with a beach clean up I felt excited and helpful where I helped clean up trash using buckets to fill it up with trash.

Here we have members participating in a beach clean up that took place this May. Our co president Brooke, on the right, is a great leader and has never failed to take time to help the community. Truly a great leader and the perfect person for the president label. These two young ladies spent the day cleaning up our home and helping our community. This is one of those events that not only fulfills the community, but you as well. This is also an event that we will continue to attend and promote!

OTC + JULY DCM - We’ll be having our Officer Training Conference July 9th, 2022! This will be a joint event with our sister division, D42E. We’ll also be having our July DCM at the event.

Applebee’s Fundraiser We will be having a fundraiser on July 16th, 2022!

June 5th|D42W Butterflies at our June DCM <3

Along with a service week lasting from June 20th to June 24th, D42W hosted a fundraiser at Raising Cane’s! 15% of sales were donated to the Key Club Pediatric Trauma Program. Thank you to everyone that was able to attend and help us raise money for a cause!
