Carolynn Nguyen is our officer of the month! Despite her already busy schedule she manages to set time for Key Club and stays active within our club by attending all meetings and attending most events! Thanks to her we always have successful fundraiser’s every month that our members enjoy!! Just recently, for Santa to the Sea, where tasked to get a head count and a group photo, she not only completed , but did it so diligently. We appreciate Carolynn, forallthatshedoesandiscontinuingtodofortheclubanddivision!!

Bart Bleule is our Kiwanis member of the month! Bart made an effort to learn how to work the Remind app so he could further keep up with our messages. He came to the last meeting of December and helped us wrap presents with a kind smile. He also talked to us about scholarships and how he was going to further talk about them later on this school year. He also informed us of the progress for next year's Cool Breeze and how other Kiwanis events have been shut down because of Covid and how he would love help

is our club of the month! We chose Buena as club of the month, despite the setbacks these past months, a good handful of members still manage to stay up to date with the division. We understand that meetings play a major role in getting the word out, including division events and yet Buena perseveres through the conflicting issue. We are glad that although having no meeting the club still is pushing the word out on events and keeping up to date. We appreciateBUENA!!Can’twaittoseey’allbackinaction!!

On December 11, fifteen Oxnard Key Club members volunteered for the Santa to the Sea Marathon! Three members volunteered early at 5 AM to set up while the rest of our members served as street guides during the waking hours.Peopleinthemorningputupbarricades, setuptents, and helped organize the food that would be passed out. Furthermore, members helped with bag check-ins. Everyone did their best to work and withstand the rainy weather, andnooneletitdiscouragethem.Wealsohada couple of members who brought their friends who were not inKeyClubwhichwearealwaysgratefulfor.Whilehanding out food and snacks to oncoming runners, our students were happy to see our marching band representing our school along with some of our favorite teachers like Mrs. Fitch. Special shoutout to our Kiwanis Advisor, Marsha Cordes, who also participated in the marathon and supportedus.Overall, everyonehadafuntimeworkingwith theirfriendsandthefriendlyrunners!

Oxnard Key Club members participated in the Garden Day at our school! Ten members worked alongsideMs.Gallagher, theownerofthegarden, to help pick vegetables and learn about gardening. She taught many of the members interesting facts about plants whilst using them in the kitchen, she is also the school’s cooking teacher! The members saw cute caterpillars that will hopefully turn into butterflies as they cleaned out weeds and turned dirt. People shared their excitement with each other and took photos. It was great that people were able to come after spending all day in their classes, some even skipping their sports. Oxnard Key Club appreciates them and we hope to be in the gardensomemore!

Our Rio Mesa key club members volunteered in our town event of Santa to the Sea Marathon on Sunday December 11 where runners run from a Santa statue and to the beach. Hundreds of runners attend, and this event is an all-day event. That day volunteers were separated in different jobsofhandingoutandfillingoutwatertorunners on the run. As well as various snacks. Other volunteers were on the trail and roads that the runners ran and guided the runners the direction to go to. On that day it was raining and windy so thereweretentsthatweregiventothevolunteers that gave water out. People came out and cheered while the runners dressed in Christmas outfitswhichwasenjoyabletowatch.

For our club members we hosted a holiday party where volunteers can bring gifts for a Christmas toy drive, the toys can be any toys that are boxed, and our officers' provided snacks and drinks for our members. All of our members were welcome to take any food and relax (pizza, chips, cookies, and more) during their time at lunch. Members that brought gifts can also wrap them with the wrapping paper and other supplies provided to wrap and to donate to the children drive. It was a cute way for everyone to join together and hang out before Christmas break and into thenewyear!!
