VOLUME 10 | ISSUE 3 DIVISION 42 WEST | REGION 10 | CALI-NEV-HA
Hiya Butterflies!! How does everyone feel about going back to school? I’ve been keeping busy with classes, but they were online so school will be different. I’m a little nervous since college applications are around the corner, but I can’t wait to see people I haven’t seen all summer. Hopefully I’ll see new faces joining my home club’s key club! It’s sad that summer has to come to an end, but we’ve gotta look at the positive side of it all :).
HEYY BUTTERFLIES!! :D I hope you all had an amazing summer and made great memories, as summer is almost coming to an end :(.
HI HI BUTTERFLIES !! I hope you all are doing well !! Quarter one has passed and I am so proud of all of the progress our division has done. I absolutely cannot wait to see what the future holds for us. With that, school is right around the corner so make sure you’re attending club meetings, going to service events, and division events! If you ever need anything do not hesitate to reach out <3

Oxnard is club of the month! We chose Oxnard for July Club of The Month since they’ve engaged and were persistent with their club. They’ve recently held a fundraiser for the “Senior Graduation” and raised a good sum of money for PTP. They’ve also been keeping their members busy with service opportunities. Oxnard is up to date with tasks and their Officers are always doing more than asked.
Kinda Mehal is our D42W member of the month! Kinda contributes a lot and truly showcases her care about the longevity of Key Club. She has gone out of her way to find community service opportunities on her own. With such an amazing attitude, we can’t wait to see where her contributions take Key Club in the future!
Zaide Pasion is our officer of the month! Zaide has been a Key Club member since her freshman year. She has been an active member since joining. She has participated in multiple service projects such as June’s Chalk-Around-the-Block. As an officer, she always provides her feedback, responds quickly, and makes sure to fulfill her obligations as an officer
Gary Pelmar is our Kiwanis member of the month! Gary Pelmear is our wonderful Kiwanis Advisor who always answers any questions we have. He picks up pizza from the local Little Caesar's so our members can get lunch during the meetings, and he is always easy to contact since he gives speedy responses through e-mail. Mr. Pelmear always makes time for our club, such as attending the club visitation for this quarter and coming to all of our club meetings.
Tiffani Herbst is faculty advisor of the month! She has shown to be a great support system for all officers and club members at Santa Paula High School. She is consistently involved in the club, and we are very appreciative of all she does for us!
This is a flyer used to spread the word about our Cane's fundraiser. We posted this on our instagram and some of the members were able to go. They said the food was amazing and for some it was their first time trying Cane’s. We tried promoting the fundraiser the whole week of the event and some of the members shared their post on their own socials to spread the word even more. I think having a fundraiser like this was great especially being like canes because many either haven’t tried canes or love canes. And it’s here locally available for everyone to go to.
On June 16th, Oxnard Key Club celebrated the graduation of our president and other senior cabinet members. We bought all of the members their respective stolls, and the cabinet members who had achieved special milestones received their very own Key Club sashes. This was all done with the help of our Advisor, Mrs. Thomas, who was able to order all of the items that we needed. It was a heartfelt day for everyone. Rafa Apodaca, a former Key Club LTG, was also in attendance to celebrate our graduation, and everyone was excited to greet him. Overall, it was a sad but exciting day and the club wished President Carlos Oregel the best on his journey.
On June 5, ten members from Pacifica attended the June DCM. We started the DCM with an icebreaker called “the game of concentration” which resulted in two cabinet members from Pacifica in the finale. Myself and treasurer Nathan Kight were put head to head with the topic of makeup brands; which I ended up winning. After a close game, we reviewed the division’s old business regarding a t-shirt design and a recent service event held called Mountains 2 Beach marathon. Then we moved onto new business and our club was awarded Club of the Month, along with our own Ricardo Luna who earned Member of the Month. We then discussed upcoming dates and goals, and finally created thank you cards for staff and faculty that helped the Pacifica Club throughout the school year. We took a few pictures and listened to music as we wrote sweet notes. Overall I had a ton of fun at the DCM and I’m sure other members of the club can say the same.
On June 9th, Rio Mesa held our annual food fest among our clubs in which each club sells food from different food options. For Key Club we sold Chick Fil-a including chicken, cookies, and lemonade along with sauce. We set up a table before lunch in which we distributed the different foods people can buy and their prices, as we do the food fest it helps out club make profit to help our Key club for future events, Since Chick Fil-a is very popular the food was sold out quickly in which our members in Key Club helped with taking care of people and their orders which was more efficient and faster.
