Before the new year ends, I will be addressing you as arctic foxes one last time. My heart hurts as they are very dear to me, but if you love something, you must let it go, right? In other news, we are nearing the end of college application season and I just want to say while it has been the worst three months ever, I am a little bit wistful. I am proud of all of you who are going through this process with me. Again, this year is not what we had imagined, but we will push through regardless. Thank you to everyone

who helped out with this newsletter by editing, drawing, and submitting visuals. Congratz to the talented Kenya, the lovely artist who drew the past two covers, for becoming part of our DLT! December is a time of love, rest, and joy. 2020 has been a rough year, but the happy memories sandwiched in between are worth cherishing. I wish you all the happiest of holidays.

It’s the best season: winter! Take time this month to cherish your loved ones and treat them to a thoughtful present. As the year comes to an end, think of something you want to accomplish in 2021 and set your resolutions. If you’re a senior: congrats on submitting UC Apps! I know this past month has been stressful, but it will all pay off once we get our acceptance letters.

BUENA For the month of November, our club continued to participate in year-long service events, which include Free Rice and Charity Miles. We also attended STARTC, where we learned more about the aspects of Key Club. One of our members received the title of Member of the Month during the DCM portion. On November 20th, we will be having guest speakers from the College Arch discuss their organization to our club for those that are interested in joining the organization or have further questions about the college application process.

CHANNEL ISLANDS In appreciation of this giving month, Channel Islands’ Key Club organized a service project committee to curate ideas for the future, in which we are planning a “Week of Giving” during Thanksgiving break. Not to mention, we hosted a MRP Webinar to inform our members on how to be recognized as a distinguished member in the community. We have also arranged an interclub service event with Rio Mesa High School and St. Buenaventura, to where we illustrated cheerful drawings for senior citizens, troops overseas, and children through “Color-A-Smile.” With more than twenty members in attendance, the annual Regional Training Conference (RTC) provided the club an amazing opportunity to meet members from outside of the division and sessions to enrich our leadership abilities.

COASTAL In the month of November, our club participated in the STARTC, our region’s training conference.! It was so exciting and fun since it was our first time as a Coast Club to be doing this training with all of the other key clubs! Our members had a really fun time and experience and one of our members, Kenya Santamaria, was named Member of the Month for the October Recognition! We haven’t yet planned a service event for the club, but next month we will have big things coming our way! The one service we’ve been active on is the “Charity Miles” with over 900 miles altogether for the past 2 months!

OXNARD For the month of November, Oxnard Key Club continues in participating in our ongoing service projects like Pause For, Charity Miles, and Handmade Bookmarks. We also partnered up with the Helping Hands club at Oxnard High School for our Winter Clothing Donation Drive, which

began on November 9th

and will end on Dec 4th. All

these donations will be going to our peers in need so they can stay warm and cozy. Also, Oxnard Key Club is planning a mini public library with our sponsoring Kiwanis Family. We are still in the process of getting it set up and looking for it to be finish by mid-December.

PA C I FI CA Our home club, Pacifica, has been catching up on our service activities, such as Charity Miles, Donate-A-Photo, and Shave the Day. We have yet to put our heads together with new service projects for our club members. In regards to our current meetings, we are relaying division wide information, such as dues and LTG candidates and our division in general. All in all, we are expecting improvement and growth, awaiting what is to come for our home club!

RIO MESA Despite this year’s limitations, our members participated in our Love Letters for Literacy campaign to help young students develop their literacy skills; raised funds through UNICEF's Math for Kids & Word Puzzles for Good to help children in need; and supported those in poverty through our year-long Pause For project. Aside from these service projects, we hosted an inter-club Trivia Night event with Oxnard High School and raised $165 for the Sacramento Kiwanis Family House. As October comes to a close, we are eager to share the upcoming events we have planned for November and are ever-so-grateful for the amazing members we have!

SA NTA PA U LA For the month of November, Santa Paula has officially found an advisor and we are so excited and grateful to finally start! It has been a challenge due to our situation in regards of Covid-19 and our previous advisor transferring to a different school, but now that we are back we have so much to plan. Santa Paula officers have held a few board meetings and we plan on starting right away after break to host our first meeting and seek ways to serve from home. We also hope to increase our member attendance in division events and we are pumped to continue strong.

V E N T U R A During November we had a couple meetings and planned two events. We hope to have a beach cleanup in early December while maintaining social distancing and we also plan to design T-shirts that we will sell--donating proceeds to charity. We also had two people participate in RTC and have raised over 200 miles for Charity Miles since the last report. On Thursday, November 18, we held a general meeting I focusing on the membership dues and upcoming events. OUr members have been actively participating in Charity Miles report which shows a significant increase the last two months and will likely continue to increase as we recruit more cross country kids.

CIHS Key Club held a service project called Love Letters for Literacy. Love Letters for Literacy is a non-profit organization equipping low-income families with resources and tools to help children improve their literacy skills. One of our members, Den Earl Dulos, made three different letters for literacy with each letter holding a different game he created. He sent the games off with a lovely handwritten letter addressing his favorite book and encouraging the friend to read more!

As a club, CIHS decided to have Pause For as a constant event. This app has members to pause their phones for a set amount of time which allows them to raise money for various charities. As soon as the member logs into their phone during the timer, it stops the clock and resets it. This is to ensure they work for their charities! Den Earl Dulos paused for a total of 36 times and accumulated 14.4 hours alone!

November was a very busy month for Key Clubbers. With Region Training Conference, there wasn’t much time to attend many Kiwanis Events. Luckily, Kiwanis attended our Key Club Events! There were many Kiwanians present at RTC and a variety of Club Meetings. The Kiwanis Clubs of Camarillo, Oxnard, and Ventura paid for the RTC registration of each Key Clubber that attended. Kiwanis of Oxnard also provided snacks and drinks for every attendee!

Circle-K from universities such as UC Berkeley and USC offered college webinars to seniors from Key Club. At these webinars, Circle K presenters explained the different components of the UC application and answered questions pertaining to college admissions and university life,

The Arctic Fox has been with us through thick and thin. We’ve had many laughs together, many cries, many heartfelt moments. it is with deep sorrow we say goodbye as we move onto a new chapter in our division. The Arctic Fox will be stepping down for our new mascot, D42W Butterflies, so let’s send them off with a smile. To end the 2020 year, let’s reminisce on the good times we shared together.
