“Hello my name is Bethany Girma I am currently entering my sophomore year at Valley High School. And I will be serving as your 2016-2017 Executive Assistant. To get know me better I am Ethiopian and I do speak another language. Also I have attended DCON and Fall rally so if you have any questions feel free to contact me. But some of the goals I have for this term is to create as many scholarships as possible. As well as making sure that there is more of a unity within in the division. Which is why Jasmin implemented the buddy system. I want our division to be stronger. As Helen Keller said "Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much. "

August DCM

August DCM | August 13, 2016 “This month's DCM was quite unique in the aspect of it including key clubs from the North, West, and South Divisions. Our LTG's introduced themselves and the event commenced. I found it enjoyable to be able to meet officers and key club members from other divisions-the only other time I got to do that was at OTC. Then we all split into our respective divisions and went on with the usual matters, such as President reports and LTG announcements. Right after, we were separated once again into three teams: apples, bananas, and oranges and have more in depth talks with college key clubbers. I was actually really interested in scholarships, loans, and everything related to colleges so I chose to ask numerous questions. However, we as an officer board only chose to stay until 1:30 because family plans called us back home. - Ian Medina, Liberty

Service Recap July Board Meeting | July 25, 2016 “On July 25, 2016 Green Valley Key Club held their second board meeting of the summer. It was held at Jason's Deli. There we talked about our plans for some upcoming events like: Freshman orientation, August DCM, and our first general meeting. The board also shared cheers for RTC and voted on three that would be used in the competition. We also finalized some decisions on spirit gear, making RTC feeling closer and closer everyday. Nick Phillips , 12

Sort-A-Thon | Coronado “On Friday, August 12th, from 5:00pm-7:00pm, I attended the Sort-a-thon at Three Square Food Bank. We first helped by unwrapping plastic off packages of canned foods and restacking and organizing them onto pallets. After that, we helped unstack and organize bins, which would hold the food that would be given to families in need. Overall, it was a pretty successful event, and our members enjoyed helping out at this Sort-A-Thon. - Jing Yin, 12

Little Miss Hannah Festival | Valley “The Little Miss Hannah event was amazing for our community as it brought together a cause for children! I learned at this event that Little Miss Hannah was actually dedicated for a child that lost her life to a rare disease͞ it was at this point where I knew my act of volunteer was not just for community service, but for a reason. At the event there were many children that came to our booth - Valley Key Club - and played a little fish game where they had to pick up plastic fish for a prize. It was not only fun to see all these kids laugh and yell, but to see their faces with a huge smile made it all worth it! I highly appreciate everyone to attend this event next year! It was not an event just to serve our community, but an event to serve as a reason, a reason why we should put our everything into the children of today as they truly are our future of tomorrow! Thank you!

Springs Preserve Garden Work | Coronado “I volunteered to do gardening work at the Springs Preserve. It was quite refreshing to leave the house for once and actually do work. My main task was to clear out the seed pods of all the vegetation and the ground. It was an easy enough assignment, although I did prick my finger in one of the piles. Overall I felt we did a pretty nice job at cleaning up, especially the garden patches and walkways. - Ivan Chang, Sophomore (Member of the Month)
