Lieutenant Governor Message Hello Orcas! A baby was born! Conclave has officially happened, and I am proud to say that Karen Mina from El Camino Key Club will be the Division 37 West Lieutenant Governor for the 2018-2019 term! Please welcome her with open arms and congratulate her for her upcoming term. Do not be afraid to ask her questions or greet her at events!

REMINDER: Dues Deadlines have passed, so if your club has not submitted in your dues please do so as soon as possible. This year was full of great memories within the division. So far we have 200+ dues paid members! This is an amazing accomplishment and I want to thank all of our advisors for helping us with this goal. If your club is not a dues paid club after February 1st, then your club will be suspended until dues are paid. This suspension and eventually lead to deactivation. In order to avoid this dilemma, please work with your advisors to submit you dues to the district as soon as possible. Missed the opportunity to go to Fall Rally? Want to still have that ultimate Key Club experience? Well you still can! In April 2018, CNH District's District Convention will be happening in Reno Nevada. This is where you can interact with Key Clubbers all over the District, attend informational workshops to better your service/leadership skills, and much more! Now you might be wondering: Why are you mentioning this now when it's not for another 5 months? Well, if you want to attend it would be a good idea to start saving up money so you can get the opportunity to attend. More details will be sent out as the date approaches sooner

See you all at the next DCM or division event!

Yours in Service,

Emily Sim

Lieutenant Governor Elect Message

Hey there, Orcas! My name is Karen Mina. I am currently a junior and a member from El Camino’s Key Club. I have attended many Key Club service events like Harbor Days and helping at the local Speech and Debate Tournament. Also, I have been a guest at a few of the Kiwanis Family breakfast meetings. However, I am not here to talk about just my experience. I have an important message I’d like to share with all of you.

As you may or may not know, I am proudly serving as our division’s Lieutenant Governor for the 2018-19 term! I understand that taking on this role comes with many responsibilities and is a huge commitment. In spite of that, I am willing to take on these extra steps to serve each and every one of you. Being a leader does not make me much different than any of you. The only difference is having more responsibilities. Taking on this position is not a way to show my superiority over you. With that being said, I am still your fellow key club member, friend, and volunteer. As your Lt. Governor, I will do my best to fix any of your concerns and try out any reasonable suggestions. Please remember that communication is key. Without it, there would be no way for our division to properly function. It is my goal to maintain a strong connection and constantly communicate with all of you!

I cannot express how happy I am to be your leader for the upcoming term. I hope to make all of you proud and continue to enjoy your experience as a Key Clubber. Hopefully I can meet all of you very soon. Let’s continue this year with a bang and splash our way into the next term with more killer service!

Yours in Service,

Emily Sim

Sp tlight on Service The Spotlight on Service Program is a recognition service that offers a chance for clubs to be featured in the District Newsletter. It provides a unfom infrastructure for clubs to take initiative in becoming involved with local and districtwide organizations that are parallel with the Cali-Nev-Ha District's Major Emphasis - Children: Their Future, Our Focus

FEBRUARY FOCUS: CHILDREN'S MIRACLE NETWORK Children's Miracle Network Hospitals raise funds and awareness for 170 hospitals that provide 32 million treatments each year to kids across the U.S. and Canada. Donations stay local to fund critical treatments and healthcare services, pediatric medical equipment and charitable care. Its various fundraising partners and programs support the nonprofit’s mission to save and improve the lives of as many children as possible. All CMN contributions directly benefit hospitals, to purchase up-to-date equipment, train staff, conduct lifesaving research, implement outreach programs and provide health care for children whose parents can’t afford to pay. Find a CMN Hospital near you and learn about the work they are doing in your community.
