Feel. Simple. Golf.
Feel. Simple. Golf. is a complete five course dinner. When each course is devoured completely, this integrated system of the golf swing is everything you need to have fun playing golf well—from driving to putting and putting to driving. With an investment of time to study, learn, and practice what is covered on each page of this instruction and seminar manual, the path is very doable. We know you can do this!
While implementing all five fundamentals of the integrated golf swing is necessary, options are available on how to make that happen. You can read, study, and practice what is written in our two books, including Feel. Simple. Golf. (2017). You can also attend seminars and clinics presented by Feel. Simple. Golf. From beginner to a professional golfer, you may prefer to take lessons from Feel. Simple. Golf. The lessons themselves are limited in number, quick in results, and affordable in cost.

Colorado Golf Expo Special Section
Your 2022 Golf Season Starts Here By Joe Grant DIVOT Contributing Writer
After 25 years at Denver Mart, the Denver Golf Expo now has a new name and a new home. The rechristened Colorado Golf Expo will take place February 25-27 at the Colorado Convention Center (CCC) on 14th Street in Downtown Denver. Although the Mart’s closure last spring forced the move, it gave the Expo’s coowners Mark and Lynn Cramer the opportunity to make a “fresh start.” And they seized it. “Taking it to the Colorado Convention Center means it’s a golf expo for the entire state,” Mark Cramer says. “The facility is the premier location for a show in the State—it’s clean, well-maintained, close to hundreds of restaurants, has its own lightrail station, and there’s also parking right there.” Plus, adds Lynn Cramer, “The convention center follows the highest standards of cleanliness and safety, and must adhere to the City and County of Denver’s most recent health protocols.” “I’m thrilled it’s at the convention center,” says Colorado Golf Association CEO and Executive Director Ed Mate. “That’s the big leagues. Being at the Colorado Convention Center elevates the profile of the event and all of Colorado golf.” Mate’s organization will be among the more than 100 vendors in Hall F—a 100,000-square-foot space that’s 15 percent larger than the Denver Mart area. Every exhibitor is looking forward to interacting with the legions of men, women and children who filled Colorado’s tee sheets in
record numbers during the pandemic-fueled golf boom of the last two years. If you’re reading this, you’re one of them.
Why Go?
Come for the giveaways and deals on everything from tee times to head covers. Try new clubs or get a free lesson. Compete in skills challenges. Connect with people from different courses, leagues and associations. Pick up bags of free golf swag and complete a brief survey to register for the Grand Prize Getaway drawing for a golf vacation to Hawaii. There’s no better way to immerse yourself, your friends and your family in a game you probably haven’t played in months. And there’s no better time. At the vast Lenny’s Golf Club Demo area, you’ll be one of the first hit clubs that just debuted at the big PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando. Bargains abound, including those on the absolute latest drivers, irons, wedges and putters from top manufacturers. Clubmaker representatives will be there to discuss their new lines, and Lenny’s offers free fittings for all clubs purchased. You also can tap the swing knowledge of PGA and LPGA Professionals during seminars on the Main Stage. Looking to take your game on the road? Representatives from dozens of golf destinations near and far will tempt you with info and incentives.
PLAY TO WIN
Got game? The Expo offers four contests to prove it: Closest to the Pin, Long Drive, Chipping Challenge and the Long Putt Challenge. Sponsored by Denver-based Optimum
Golf, the Closest to the Pin contest utilizes a Foresight GC2 Launch Monitor to gauge your shot’s proximity on a simulated par 3. The player who hits it closest to the pin each day qualifies for a Sunday-afternoon playoff, with the winner receiving Optimum Golf sessions. Utilizing another Foresight GC2, Optimum Golf and Lifetime Windows will cosponsor the Long Drive Contest, with winners in multiple categories receiving an Ogio Golf Bag. In the vast Lenny’s Golf Shop space, the Chipping Challenge invites players to chip to a scaled-down version of TPC Sawgrass’s island-green 17th built by SYNLawn specifically for the Expo. Those holing—or coming the closest to holing—their shots each day qualify for a playoff, with the winner receiving a new wedge from Lenny’s. The Long Putt Challenge, sponsored by TPC Colorado at Heron Lakes, gives you the opportunity to sink two putts longer than 60 feet. Tickets and VIP packages to the Korn Ferry Tour’s TPC Colorado Championship at Heron Lakes await each day’s winners.
Know the Players
Colorado’s most comprehensive golf show enjoys the strong backing of the Colorado PGA Section, Colorado Golf Association and their joint support of junior golf initiatives. Upon arriving, head directly to the Colorado PGA booth, where you can sign up for free (and thus wildly popular) 10-minute lessons with a talented Colorado PGA professional. While waiting for your “tee time,” find out more about how the PGA Reach Foundation helps to make the game more inclusive, support our military and develop
the next generations of golfers. Swing by the Colorado Golf Association booth to learn about the benefits of being one of the organization’s nearly 70,000 members. Those benefits include an enhanced handicap- and game-tracking GHIN mobile app with available GPS, as well as discounts on rental cars, hotels, golf equipment, golf apparel and the opportunity to play 12 private facilities around the state. If you have a junior golfer, ask the CGA about the Youth on Course program, which lets kids between ages 6 and 17 play golf for $5 at 30 courses. Or head to the Colorado PGA’s Junior Golf Experience, which is easy to spot with Golfzilla and other giant inflatable targets. The PGA can fill you in about PGA Junior League golf teams and the Drive, Chip and Putt program that could send your kid to Augusta National.
MAKE THE TURN
No golf event would be complete without a 19th hole, and hundreds of them lie right outside the doors of the Colorado Convention Center. To that end, and in the spirit of the game and the state, the Colorado Golf Expo also will feature the Argonaut Turn Rest Stop, where you can sample and purchase beers and liquors from Great Divide Brewing Company, Stranahan’s Colorado Whiskey and The Infinite Monkey Theorem wines. In addition, Argonaut Liquors will be giving away discount cards for its in-store promotions. Visit www.ArgonautLiquor.com for more info. And while you’re there, toast the rebirth of the golf season and the upgraded Colorado Golf Expo! D

Getting There Known for the big blue bear statue in front of it, the Colorado Convention Center, is located at 700 14th St.—between Stout and California streets in Denver’s Theatre District. It is accessible by RTD Light Rail and car.
RTD Light Rail
Avoid parking altogether! Denver’s light rails D, F and H lines all stop at the Colorado Convention Center, although the F line remained suspended (as of Jan. 14) due to COVID-19 restrictions. Visit www.rtd-denver.com/app/plan to chart the easiest way to get to the Expo. Make sure to wear a mask on all RTD transportation!
BY CAR
Unlike Denver Mart, the Colorado Convention Center does not offer free parking, but does have a parking garage located at 1104 Champa Street. Up to eight hours costs $12. The garage features 665 spaces. The Expo averages roughly 3,000 attendees daily. Do the math. There are other lots in the area, and street parking is available but limited to two hours. 6

“I’m excited it’s moving downtown,” Bill Ramsey says of the Colorado Golf Expo. The PGA Director of Golf of the fourcourse South Suburban Parks and Recreation District, Ramsey has participated in every one of the 20 golf expos Mark and Lynn Cramer (both members at SSPRD’s Lone Tree Golf Course) staged at the Denver Mart. He’s also had one of its busiest booths, and he thinks it could be even busier at the new location. “The Convention Center is closer to the south side of town, where our facilities are located,” he reasons. “We’re hoping to attract more people from our area—especially with an upgrade in the quality of the venue.” But, Ramsey jokes, “I’m not going to reinvent the wheel,” an allusion to the prize wheel that’s been the main attraction of his booth. Visitors spin it for a chance at a free round, cart pass, range balls or 2-for-1 deals. The lines can grow long but they’re always lively, “and the booths near us benefit as well.” Those queues allow Ramsey and his staff time to familiarize golfers with SSPD’s offerings, as well as get feedback from regulars who “tell us what we’re doing right and what we need to improve,” he says. And, Ramsey notes, the SSPRD is constantly improving its facilities.
• Littleton Golf & Tennis Club, an im-
peccably conditioned par-63 course that’s executive in name only, will be building a new clubhouse this season. “During that time, we’ll be working from a temporary facility with limited food and beverage,” Ramsey says. “But we’ll take care of our

golfers with some outdoor barbecues and things like that.”
• Lone Tree Golf Club & Hotel, with its
superb 7,054-yard Arnold Palmer-designed championship course and ample practice facility, recently brought the interior of its 45,000-square-foot clubhouse out of the 1980s with a complete remodel. Highlights include a dazzling new-look golf shop, banquet facility and grill that spills onto an elevated patio with glorious mountain views.
• South Suburban Golf Course’s newly
designed 18th hole is one of the best in the state with water and an abundance of sand, and its new short-game practice area lets you work on all types of chips, putts and bunker shots. The facility boasts a Dick Phelps-designed layout with fiddly greens and a popular 9-hole par-3 course.
• Family Sports Center Golf complements its 9-hole, par-31 course with a superb practice area and golf lessons from its PGA professionals and those from Golftec. You can practice year-round in individually infrared-heated bays on the double-deck driving range.
Ramsey adds that the early-season discounts of SSPRD’s Fore Golf Program are baked into the Expo ticket price to incentivize people to come out at least once a week to practice or play. “The more people go out, the better they get,” he says, “and the better they get the more they like the game.” Visit ssprd.org for more information.

The Kings of Clubs
Like most vendors at this year’s Colorado Golf Expo, Nick Nosewicz can’t wait for the event’s debut at the Colorado Convention Center. “To me it’s not as much of an ‘expo’ as it is a ‘festival,’” the general manager of Lenny’s Golf Shop says. “It’s a celebration of golf. Whether they shoot 65 or 105, everybody is speaking the same language.” For the last 11 years, Lenny’s has celebrated by occupying the most real estate on the floorplan—something that will continue this year. Its 23,000-square-foot space—significantly more than it had at the Denver Mart and more than five times the size of its store at 2601 S. Parker Road in Aurora—will include a retail area and a Club Demo area, where you can hit offerings from 10 major manufacturers, including Callaway, Ping and Titleist, that will have debuted only within the last month.
“I always look at it from a consumer’s standpoint,” Nosewicz explains. “If I go the Renaissance Festival, I want to throw axes. If I go to a golf festival, I want to hit the newest clubs.” You can chat with company representatives about their clubs and buy them from Lenny’s at a discount. You’ll then pick them up at the store, where one of seven master fitters meticulously fits them for free using state-of-the-art launch monitors and other technologies. “If you only sell clubs, you’re only doing half the job,” says Nosewicz, an accomplished mid-amateur who ascribes some of his success (including the 2015 CGA Match Play title and 2017 CGA Parent-Child Championship with his father and company founder, Lenny Nosewicz) “to the fact that my clubs—from putter to driver—fit me.”
What doesn’t fit in the store are the shirts, shoes, bags and other high-margin soft goods that bigger retailers and online services have the room to stock. Nosewicz admits to “hoarding” as much inventory as he can to sell at the Expo. “We’ll even have pushcarts, electric carts, stuff we don’t ordinarily sell, but stuff that I, as a golfer, would want,” he says. He’s also filling the added space with a chipping contest on a replica of the 17th at TPC Sawgrass made by SYNLawn (“Nick Perea, the president, built the putting green in my basement”) and an area for attendees to check out Blue Tees, “a nice, price-conscious rangefinder.” Buoyed my memories of attendees of the Colorado Ski and Snowboard Show boarding the light rail laden with new planks and parkas, Nosewicz is motivated to move merchandise at the Convention Center, especially because Lenny’s will begin a complete store remodel right after the Expo. “I’m bringing every single thing from shop,” he says. “I don’t want it to

Approach your next golf shot with better preparation
LOVETHE INSIGHT By Sabrina Naccarato DIVOT Contributing Writer
NOW FEATURING
The innovation, the insight, the results. The next generation of motion capture, OptiMotion, is now at GOLFTEC. No wires, no sensors, no vests - just smart cameras that measure your swing positions optically. With the help of your GOLFTEC Coach, you’ll love the results.
A lot of golfers spend a good chunk of time dialing in their game on the driving range before they hit the course just to stand over their shot and almost forget everything they know about swinging a golf club. Whether it’s the pressures of the golf course or other unknown factors, approaching a shot without a game plan can lead to some disastrous outcomes. That’s exactly why GOLFTEC’s Doug Strawbridge believes the P.A.R. approach is the best way to attack any golf shot. P.A.R. stands for preparation, action, and response and we’re going to dive into how each of these terms can help you execute a better golf shot during your round.
Preparation
LESSONS • CLUB FITTING • golftec.com
SCHEDULE A LESSON
12 12
DIVOTMagazine.com DIVOTMagazine.com ll Expo ExpoIssue Issue2022 2022
Preparation always begins with understanding the distance you want to hit. In most cases, Strawbridge recommends using a range finder to gauge your distance to your target. The next step in this stage is to analyze the conditions- what type of lie is your ball in, is there wind, are you hitting off of an upslope, etc. Taking all of these things into consideration will help you determine the final step- selecting your target. It’s always a good reminder to keep in mind what type of trouble might be around your target and
aim for an end target that will result in the best possible outcome.
Action At this point, all of your decisions have been made and you’re ready to make your swing. However, at this stage, you can take a practice swing, re-check your target, and really commit to the shot you decided to in the previous step.
Response Now you’ve reached the final stage in the P.A.R. approach, the response. You’ve hit your shot and now you get to evaluate the shot. The first thing to look at is if you’ve made good contact with the ball. Then you can look at how the ball took off, if your starting direction was as you intended, and if there was any curve to the ball. By taking all of this into consideration, you don’t need to make any adjustments in your next shot, but you’re just aware of if any patterns are present in your shots. If you take the P.A.R. approach with you the next time you hit the golf course, there’s a good chance you’ll start to feel more comfortable over the ball and there’s even a possibility by using the P.A.R. approach, you’ll start to see more pars on your scorecard as well. Fitness
Work on mobility this off-season
By Dee Tidwell DIVOT Contributing Writer
I have an important golf question for you right out of the gate…have you been working on your fitness during that warm winter play time we had a few weeks back? I hope your answer is “yes,” but I have a sneaky suspicion the answer for most of you is no. One major theme I stress during the off-season for golfers is Mobility. Mobility is defined as, “optimal joint range of motion combined with proper muscle flexibility.” This means that mobility allows for the generation of elastic energy (backswing) and therefore establishes a base for efficient power production (transition/downswing). Mobility is also what allows you to maintain stable posture during your entire swing and is one of the major factors that dictates club path and club face at impact. Since most of you work by sitting at a desk all day, you will automatically become “mobility challenged!’ I see it show up every day while performing TPI assessments on golfers and how a lack of mobility leads to power leaks in their swing and major contributors to pain. Now, the other crucial part of off-season that all golfers can benefit from is developing strength. Did you know that it is very difficult to develop strength without a platform of mobility and stability? That’s why continuing to stretch during winter as well as prioritizing gym workouts will almost more than anything improve your game. The other aspect of strength typically overlooked is how it plays an active role in, injury prevention, longer drives, and a consistent swing move. So, understanding the importance of mobility and strength, here are three exercises that you can use to help you gain mobility and strength in the legs, hips, core, thorax and shoulders. (Caution: Like always, please be careful in executing these moves. If you have prior injuries to the ankles, knees, hips, low-back or shoulders, be aware that these exercises will challenge each of those joints. So, if you are new to exercise, PLEASE don’t be knuckle head and not listen to my warning! Better to be safe than sorry!) You can use an exercise band or cable machine for these exercises.
How to: 1. Start with light weight 2. Perform 1-3 sets of 8-15 reps of each side 3. Do all three exercises back-to-back without rest, then rest for 90-120 seconds 4. If you have pain, STOP immediately
1- Curtsey Squats
a side lunge where the front leg becomes straight, and you sit into the back knee and hip (almost like you are going to sit in a chair behind you). Simultaneously, pull the handle to the side of your chest using your elbow to pull, and reach forward with the other arm. Reverse the process to complete one rep. Do both sides.
3- Chop in Static Lunge Position
From a standing position with good posture simply step behind one leg into a side lunge. Try to keep your front knee over the ankle and chest and head facing forward. Stand back up and do the other side.
Grab a cable or band handle about chest high and face perpendicular to its attachment. Make sure the outside hand is the hand to grab the handle first, then place
your inside hand on top of the outside. Get into a lunge position where the outside leg is forward. Hold this position and don’t let your lower body move at all during the exercise. Hold the handle close to your chest, then extend your arms and bring them back, that’s one rep. Perform 1 to 3 sets of these exercises, every other day and if ANYTHING is painful at all…stop immediately! Dee Tidwell has been a golf fitness expert and soft tissue therapist since 2000. He is a 3X Golf Digest Golf Fitness Instructor, is TPI certified, an ELDOA Trainer and has worked with PGA Tour players and hundreds of amateur golfers alike. 2- Cable Pull into Side Lunge
You’ve got new clubs, now get your body moving better for your best game yet! Our members experience:
Grab a cable or band handle about chest high with the opposite hand of the foot that is forward. With good posture, a long lunge position where your back heel is up and you are facing the machine or wall where the band is attached, start to “sit back” into
• Longer Drives • Greatly reduced handicaps • Greater accuracy in their game • Better consistency in their swing • A loss of 20-30 pounds • Playing without pain

GOLFTEC Announces $100,000 Raised for PGA HOPE Through Their DRIVE FOR HOPE Campaign
2022
Golf Tournament Donations & Services Designed to help add value, promote and grow your event.
GOLFTEC, the world leader in golf improvement and club fitting, announced today that the company has raised $100,000 to donate to PGA HOPE through the DRIVE FOR HOPE campaign. The DRIVE FOR HOPE charity campaign combined generous public donations with GOLFTEC’s donation of $1 for every lesson given during the month of November. “We are extremely pleased with the donations we raised through our DRIVE FOR HOPE campaign,” said GOLFTEC CEO, Joe Assell. “All of our students helped out by coming into GOLFTEC Training Centers for lessons in November, so that we could add to our total with every lesson given. We are very proud to be helping out our military and Veterans everywhere by making this donation to PGA HOPE.” PGA HOPE (Helping Our Patriots Everywhere) is the flagship military program of PGA REACH, the charitable foundation of the PGA of America. PGA HOPE introduces golf to Veterans with disabilities to enhance their physical, mental, social
and emotional well-being. “We’re proud of the amazing work that PGA Professionals do year-round for America's Veterans through PGA HOPE, and we appreciate the wonderful support GOLFTEC has given to this special cause,” said PGA President Jim Richerson. “PGA HOPE has such a tremendous influence on so many Veterans nationwide, and initiatives like DRIVE FOR HOPE help us positively impact the lives of our nation's heroes through the game of golf.” GOLFTEC gave over 80,000 lessons nationwide during November, a number that definitely was influenced by the DRIVE FOR HOPE military campaign. DRIVE FOR HOPE is part of GOLFTEC Cares, a charitable initiative with a mission to unite communities through golf and drive the game towards greater accessibility, diversity, and long-lasting charitable impact. With over $2 million in charitable giving in 2021, GOLFTEC is aiming for an even greater impact through 2022 and beyond. D

Golf Course Feature
Golf with a 19th century Colorado ranch setting
It’s no secret that metro Denver offers an abundance of nice public golf courses. It would be impossible to rank them all in an objective way.
Will your lineup be based on beauty, course conditions, amenities, convenience, playability? Regardless of the criteria, Raccoon Creek Golf Course at 7301 West Bowles Avenue, south of Denver, in Littleton, deserves a spot on the list. Raccoon Creek Golf Course is a privately owned, public course, which even 36 years after its opening, is still thought by some to be a country club. In some ways the confusion is understandable. As you turn off Bowles Avenue onto the property, you’re heading down a path, under a canopy of trees where you soon lose sight of the suburban setting you've just been navigating. You’ve been 22

transported onto a 19th century Colorado ranch, with multiple outbuildings, a granary, and The Barn at Raccoon Creek, a premium Colorado wedding venue featuring a fantastic new pavilion. The golf course, designed in 1982 by acclaimed golf architect, Dick Phelps was built on land with a Colorado history dating back to 1878 when the state’s eventual 3rd Governor, James B. Grant, purchased the property to use as a gun and sporting club. Since then, the property has been farmed and ranched. At one time the land was used to stable racehorses, including its most famous guest, Granville, the 1936 horse of the year and grandson of the legendary champion, Man O’ War. The course Phelps came up with is a challenging par 72 track that offers 4 sets of tees, plus 2 combo sets to
create yardage flexibility from 5100 yards from the forward tees to over 7000 yards from the tips. Don’t let the modest yardage fool you as you can find water on 14 holes in the form of several lakes and Raccoon Creek which meanders through the property, bisecting it from the Northwest to the Southeast corner. Unless you have some course knowledge you might want to consult the topnotch GPS systems on the golf carts. The system provides a touch screen for lay-up shots and a “flyover” feature that gives you good visual reference of the upcoming hole. You can quickly get spoiled by these quiet little caddies. Despite the abundance of water and sand throughout your journey around Raccoon Creek, the course offers safer tee to green passage if you know where to find it. You need to balance your desire to attack with the sensible play, but attack is an op-
tion, as the design rarely takes the driver completely out of play. Aggressiveness off the tee can be rewarded with shorter approaches and on the reachable par 5’s but it can also lead to numerous golf ball drownings! The smooth greens feature typical Dick Phelps style undulations, bringing 3-putt into play at every turn. Once you learn the best angles to play from in the fairway, your approach shots will be easier and with proper distance control, you will be able to stay below the hole and enjoy more birdie opportunities. The greens can be tricky to read but keep in mind that just as Raccoon Creek flows from west to east (toward and eventually into the Platte River) most of the greens on the course have a subtle prevailing slope from west to east. Once you recognize this and allow it to influence what your eyes are telling you, you can master the greens. It’s a fun and fair course where you can expect to
Golf Course Feature be rewarded for good shots and be punished for bad ones. Sometimes when you’re out on the course it can be tough to pay attention to your game with the distracting mountain vistas, unique property history and old buildings scattered throughout. The general beauty of the layout with 3000 mature trees, routing that moves among lakes and back and forth across the creek plus the vistas will nourish the golfer’s soul. The creation of the The Barn at Raccoon Creek, 6 years ago has provided General Manager, Don Allen, and his awesome staff, the ability to offer a unique wedding and special event venue. Because of the inherent beauty of its surroundings, The Barn has quickly become a favorite Colorado wedding venue that fills open dates well in advance. You can find more information at TheBarn@RaccoonCreek.com . The 3-year-old clubhouse and Farmhouse Restaurant is an excellent venue for post tournament ban-
quets, parties, and all types of special events including the popular monthly comedy nights. The Farmhouse features a relaxing bar and restaurant, perfect for both the 19th hole crowd and gatherings of up to
100 people indoors with enough covered and enclosable patio space for 150 more. The Farmhouse restaurant and bar offers 12 ice-cold beers on, a 20-seat bar and an amazing western-view patio. The fire-pit with
Adirondack chairs is a popular postround gathering spot. The course also offers outstanding tournament services and is a terrific site to host your golf event on any day of the week. The course runs a terrific junior golf program that includes the popular PGA Junior League and a host of camps and clinics. The course also hosts weekday 9-hole evening leagues, as well as Men’s and Ladies golf clubs. Raccoon Creek has their very own app for Apple or Android that lets you easily access tee times and the course website. You can even keep score on the course or post to your social media feed through the app. The carts have built-in speakers if you want to play your own soundtrack for the round. Add a happy, helpful staff to this outstanding operation and it’s easy to see why things are so unique at Raccoon Creek and why you will want to return to the course again and again.
