Tampok Ngayon Tarlac Media Association (TAMA) Inc., 17th Anniversary “Upholding Press Freedom 17 Years and Beyond”

The Inaugural Address of TAMA President Abel Pablo Greetings! This is my third stint in my second come back as president of the Tarlac Media Association. When I was called to deliver this piece, seeing old and new faces from our guests and new members in the rank of TAMA, I feel a little bit hesitant because I knew that once again I will be putting myself to the spectacle of the public, vulnerable of criticism and attack from those I may fail to please. I have read the principle of Hartley’s law, which says, “The probability of someone watching you is proportional to the stupidity of your actions”. I may be wishing to achieve some recognition of good person, just good one, rather than to dream of achieving to become a great one. I must dislike the empty praises of a friend giving credits of greatness that I don’t deserve. Edmund Burke once said that flattery corrupts both the receiver and giver”. For those who are kind enough wanting to inspire me, of course I need your kind words and

your sincere dealings. Be a critique of my acts and deeds, Jose Rizal, once said, “We need criticism to keep us alive, it make us see our weaknesses so that we can correct them”. I almost can’t believe that TAMA can reach this far, we are now on our 17th year, I and brother Jess and other friends who later become politicians and some were gone and went to somewhere else’s care. Like Brother Nilo Quizon, Brother Edwin Mergas and Brother Bonifacio Gregorio, who were active movers of TAMA, where memories of their manifested efforts continue to inspire us, to advance f to the objectives of TAMA. In this year, my colleagues in TAMA, as a Media Fraternity we must go in our day-to-day activities of doing our Press Works and other extraactivities, our direction and focus of advocacy is should be to support every effort on environmental protection. We must realize that there is an ongoing emergency and rescue operations to save our mother earth. Doing this, is but trying to save our souls from the wrath of nature. Mitigation of Climate Change is but an emergency matter that cannot wait. We should all participate in the National Greening Program introduced by President Noy, Let us support EO 23 the National Greening Program and help enforce EO 26 the Total Log Ban. And one more important thing is that we also need to contribute efforts for the education of the youth, let us help them get good education for trade courses for those who may wish to acquire
