t’s been the playground of royalty, international celebrities and billionaire super-yacht owners, and now the most magnificent estate on Trinity Beach, between Cairns and Palm Cove in Far North Queensland, has opened its doors to buyers. The 1000-square-metre, five-bedroom home, on more than 7500 square metres of land with a 135-metre beach frontage and stunning views over the Coral Sea to Green Island, even comes with a slice of that beach itself, on an old King George title.

“It has $100-million views but for a fraction of that price,” says Jock Langley, director of Abercromby’s Real Estate. “It’s perfect for either permanent living or as a holiday house. With the current owners moving away, it’s time for the next custodians to enjoy.” The house, just 15 minutes from the airport at Cairns – an easy gateway to Asia – is exceedingly private and secluded. People spotted in the vicinity over the years include Prince Henry, the first Duke of Gloucester, who in 1945 became the only British royal to ever
serve as governor-general of Australia, Mick Jagger, and the band members of Coldplay. “There have been so many dignitaries, international celebrities and rock stars who’ve stayed here because it’s such an exclusive enclave, but the owner always agreed not to reveal their names,” Langley says. Features of the house, built in 1983 on part of an original land grant dating back to the late 1800s, include a climate-controlled pool, a golf driving range, a gym, a sauna, a library, bars, outdoor barbecue and private parking.

“We’re also running an international campaign to find the right buyer for such an incredible property as this. A buyer could come from anywhere – locally, interstate, an expat from overseas, someone from Asia or Europe …”
The location is just a quick stroll from the nearby cafes and restaurants, with the Great Barrier Reef, Port Douglas and the Daintree National Park all a short drive away. “It’s just an amazing place,” says Joanne Drake, the manager of the Super Yacht Group, over the phone from Tahiti. “The property is beautiful and the destination, by the only place on earth where two World Heritage sites – the reef and the rainforest – meet is incredible. I always recommend the house to the billionaire owners of yachts I work with.” Co-agent for the sale Steve Wiltshire, Mission Beach Real Estate principal, says the house was designed to have a very relaxed Indonesian feel, with “slightly Frank Lloyd Wright touches, with natural timber and raw stone”.
