“We come once a week to Packs 4 Patriots, and our unbroken record is 700 goodie bags in one day with the help of all of our friends,” said DiCesare. “... We also sing as we do it, we giggle, and we actually get quite a bit done.” DiCesare said that volunteering teaches her friends at Pinnacle the importance of giving back. “My son was a Marine, and they learn that the items they are bagging go to a Marine like Jacob, and it makes them feel good that they’re doing something good for someone else,” said DiCesare. Visitors were able to tour the facility and mingle while enjoying refreshments provided by Reedy Branch FWB Church. Flower arrangements provided by Ed and Diane Godfrey and Linda’s Florist and a quilt donated by Marty Ford were t he main prizes for a drawing.

Whitehead said that NC Support our Troops is especially happy to be in the new space just in time for the holiday season. “It’s Christmas time so we need to start packing Christmas packages, and we’re inviting the community to go ahead and start those handmade ornaments, the cards and letters, the artwork, going to Dollar Tree and buying the small decorations, because it’s not the expensive things that mean home, and the troops especially love the handmade ornaments from children,” said Whitehead.

Photo above and right: Big big thank you to US Veterans Corps for these gifts to make our work easier! We can’t believe the difference they make- they roll so easier!

The holidays are the hardest time for our troops to be away from home and Whitehead said that together we can make the holidays merrier and brighter for them through donations. “Our troops are still deployed,” said Whitehead. “We still have probably a quarter of a million troops who are serving around the world, and we want them to know that America cares, and that America has not forgotten them.” Printed in the Daily Reflector 3 Oct 2023 Beyonca Mewborn Correspondent More info: Contact Bobby Burns at baburns@reflector.com and 329-9572.

Left An Impression On Man When I began riding with my husband, we discovered the world of bike rallies, poker runs, and benefit rides. We started looking up rides in our area and participating when we could. At more than one of those rides we met a biker whose love for Christ shone from every pore. His name was Tom Bloom. We only knew him as Tom Tom. The few times we talked with him, every conversation was seasoned with the salt of his life in Christ Jesus. Even though we were barely acquainted, Tom Tom’s love of people was evident in every word he spoke. He was a man I’d like to have known better, and perhaps over time would have known better — had God not suddenly called him home. Out of respect for who Tom Tom was and Who he served, my husband and I attended his memorial service. Tom Tom certainly left an impression on many hearts, a great number of whom are bikers. I saw his passing do something that I’ve never seen anything else do: Tom Tom’s departure for heaven raised tears in the eyes of his biker friends. It takes someone sold out to Jesus to raise that kind of emotion in the stalwart hearts of men and women who ride. And Tom Tom truly was sold out for Jesus. It was evident in the words of the two pastors as well as the representative with the Christian Motorcycle Association, all three of whom spoke at his memorial service. It was also obvious that all three speakers were more than just friends of Tom Tom’s. They were brothers, both in spirit and in their love of motorcycles. After those three men shared their love and respect for Tom Tom, the memorial service was opened for those in attendance to speak. Many who loved Tom Tom shared stories. Tears were mingled with laughter as they remembered their beloved friend. One after another, Tom Tom’s friends rose to speak heartfelt words about their brother in Christ and how he had impacted their lives: “Tom Tom loved motorcycles, and he loved Jesus.” “Tom Tom was a servant.”

8

“Tom Tom didn’t think of himself — he thought of the lost.” “Tom Tom was determined to tell somebody about Jesus everywhere he went.” “Tom Tom didn’t consider himself a leader, but he led by example.” “When I was struggling, Tom Tom was there, calling me every day.” “Tom Tom prayed for my friend who’s fighting cancer.” “I worked with Tom Tom, and he shared his love of Jesus there, too.” “Tom Tom encouraged me to pursue my calling in street ministry.” One after another, they stood and shared their memories. It was a beautiful testimony to a man who humbly followed His Savior wherever, whenever, and to whomever He led. Mixed into all of those memories was one common, eternal thread that wove together the tapestry of this devoted man of God: Tom Tom’s desire to reach those that others missed — the downtrodden, the outcast, the hopeless, those whose need was great but to whom no one was offering life and love. Many remembered his words: “Just give me the ones nobody else wants! That’s who I want to share the good news with!” Honestly, isn’t that what Jesus did? Didn’t He love us when nobody else would? Didn’t He pursue us with the good news, even when everybody else had given up on us? Didn’t He leave the ninety-nine sheep to find the one that had gone astray?

FACEBOOK.COM/BEHINDBARZMAG

ny Hearts! There is absolutely no doubt that Tom Tom heard “Well done, good and faithful servant” when he reached heaven. It is my fervent prayer that the minute he left the seat of his bike, he was caught in the strong arms of His Savior. And if there are motorcycles in heaven (and can there really be a heaven without Harleys?), then I know, as one of Tom Tom’s friends shared at the memorial, Tom Tom has gone ahead to scout the ride and make sure that the road is clear. As we ride, may we, like Tom Tom, seize every opportunity to share with others what Christ so freely and lovingly shared with us. “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.” 2 Timothy 4:7-8 NIV

CMA Black State Rally Mountain, NC BLACK MOUNTAIN, NC The CMA, Christian Motorcycle Association, held their State Rally, September 7th-10th at Cragmont Assembly in Black Mountian, NC. We had an amazing time. The birds were singing, the deer were running, and people were rocking. The front porch of the lodge was filled with rocking chairs and board games. It was a great place for fellowship. On Saturday, CMA was at Harley Davidson of Asheville, NC. We grilled chicken and had fixins to raise money for “Run For The Sun”. There was plenty of opportunity to Minster to other bikers. Many bikers rode in the Parkway Minister Ride that afternoon. I look forward to next year’s Rally.

History of Veterans Day World War I – known at the time as “The Great War” - officially ended when the Treaty of Versailles was signed on June 28, 1919, in the Palace of Versailles outside the town of Versailles, France. However, fighting ceased seven months earlier when an armistice, or temporary cessation of hostilities, between the Allied nations and Germany went into effect on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month. For that reason, November 11, 1918, is generally regarded as the end of “the war to end all wars.” In November 1919, President Wilson proclaimed November 11th as the first commemoration of Armistice Day with the following words: “To us in America, the reflections of Armistice Day will be filled with solemn pride in the heroism of those who died in the country’s service and with gratitude for the victory, both because of the thing from which it has freed us and because of the opportunity it has given America to show her sympathy with peace and justice in the councils of the nations…”. Armistice Day became a legal federal holiday in the United States in 1938. In the aftermath of World War II and the Korean War, Armistice Day became Veterans Day, a holiday dedicated to American veterans of all wars.

Veterans Thank you for your service!

“To Carry Or N

To carry or not to carry, that is the question! The publisher of this fine magazine has given me the opportunity to write and discuss anything I choose but may have never expected my opinion to be so controversial but here it is... As a biker, a brother, as an ol’ man, as a father, son, and uncle, I can state unequivocally that I will not hesitate to put my life on the line to protect their safety. As a man, I can look back at the many times as a youth growing up in some big city suburbs that I often did just that. Although I never enlisted in the military, although I would have benefitted greatly from the service (and thank you from the bottom of my heart to those of you who did serve our great nation), I always felt the need and the duty to come to the aid of those in need of defense. Those who were not in a position to be able to protect themselves properly or those who were being taken advantage of weighed heavy on my heart and I was never afraid of the harm that might come to me personally if I stepped up and put myself in harms way to help someone that needed protection. I purchased my first firearm when I was 18 years old (a Mossberg 500 12 gauge pump shotgun). It was a used and we’ll worn and broken in gun but it was mine and I was proud to own it. I had been deer hunting with my uncles here in North Carolina at an early age and knew my way around a gun fairly well. Before I had even shot my shotgun for the first time, I had taken it apart and put it back together again a dozen times. I liked the way it felt in my hands. I enjoyed the sounds it made as I ratcheted the pump action back and forth across the magazine. Weeks before I ever bought the first box of cartridges, I would point it at the wall that led out into the backyard and dry-fire the trigger (a big no-no by the way). I was going to be sure that I knew exactly what I needed to do when the time came to actually use this new tool. Then it happened, the time came to go rabbit hunting and it was on. I purchased my first hunting license and began reading and memorizing all of the rules and regulations around hunting, and memorizing the safe firearm handling procedures so as not to injur myself or anyone else around me after all, this is a tool that is built for one purpose... to quickly and efficiently end a life!

20

Rule number one, treat every gun as if it is loaded! Rule number two, never point a gun at anything you do not want to destroy. Rule number 3 always be certain of your target and what is beyond it. Those 3 rules are burned into my memory and should be the Gospel to ANYONE who owns and/or carries a firearm OF ANY KIND! My first rabbit hunt was successful and I uncerimoniously killed my first animal. I was sick. I looked down at this little thing I had killed with its big dark eyes staring back up at me and I couldn’t stand myself or what I had done... until my friend helped me clean it and we ate it. Although my heart was so heavy for the life I had taken, my friend clearly reminded me that everything that has a heartbeat on this planet has to kill or eat something that has been killed in order to live... and that rabbit stew was DELICIOUS! Owning a firearm is a HUGE responsibility and taking a life is not something to be taken lightly and although I have been a very successful hunter over the years, the burden of ending the life of another of God’s creatures never sits completely well with me. I always treat my harvest with respect and try to never waste any of what I take. I am a meat eater and enjoy eating what I kill. You will never know how much better freshly harvested meat can taste than store bought, cellophane wrapped, pre-packaged and hormone injected “meat” until you’ve tasted venison that’s been properly aged and prepared by a hunter that knows his or her way around a kitchen or grill... and it’s SO much healthier for you too!!! So what does any of this got to do with carrying a firearm? Well it’s actually quite simple. Liberal politicians don’t want you to have a gun... ANY gun whatsoever. They pawn their attempts at gun registration and limiting magazine capacities off on “the betterment of society as a whole” but it’s been proven time and time again that as they attempt to limit one thing such as “bump-stock” rifles, they then attempt to chip away at something else to limit you ability to own a firearm. Fortunately, we as Americans do NOT live in a Democracy as some would have you believe but a Constitutional Republic. The 2nd Ammendment in the Constitution that was written by James Madison and passed on December 15th 1791 is 27 words long and is UNIQUE to the United States of America. “A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed”. These 27 words are the absolute backbone of our freedom in this great nation and the cornerstone of what enables us to be different than ANY other country in the entire World.

Facebook.com/BehindBarzmag

th jaybird

pshot” Bailey

Not To Carry” The 2nd Ammendment was not just written so that us as citizens could hunt and provide for our families but to enable us as citizens to protect ourselves from a tyrannical government to “secure a free State”...that’s you and me! Remember that just 20 short years before James Madison wrote and got those 27 words passed into our government’s Constitution, we as a new country were separating ourselves from the tyrany and oppression of England who was squeezing the colonies we now call America dry with taxes (remember the Boston Tea Party?) Liberals form their own form of government through more programs that cost millions in tax dollars and would love nothing more than to have free reign over ALL your hard earned money if not kept in check! I in contrast am of a more conservative belief and feel that I would like to keep more of my hard earned money, and rights, and that less dependency on government programs would benefit a hard working people. My love of guns and my right to own them has always leaned to the right and aligned more with conservative beliefs than those of the liberal left, ever since I bought that first Mossberg 500 12 gauge shotgun and found out that Liberal politicians didn’t want me to have it. Since then I have ALWAYS voted the Conservative way. I learned a lot when I took my Concealed Carry handgun course and I strongly advise anyone who chooses to carry a handgun to take. The information regarding the laws and the guidelines regarding the use of deadly force alone are worthwhile, even if you do not get your permit. Some laws are obvious while others present a more gray area and while laws are always up to the interpretation of lawyers and judges who get paid great amounts of our money to argue in our favor, it is inevitably up to you as an individual to make the final decision on how valuable your life and the lives of those around you truly are. Whether to get involved, or to sit idly by while those around you are having their lives threatened or dying. Life and liberty means different things to different people. In my eyes and in my own humble opinion, there is nothing more important and to that end I will say that I carry my firearm with me everywhere, all the time. Yes, I would rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6 BUT that is my own personal belief and you are entitled to yours. One thing is for certain, it is not a decision I take lightly. The use of deadly force is a thing that will not only affect the life of the other end of your gun but will absolutely upend yours, as well. Should you ever decide that you have no other choice but to use deadly force and fire your weapon, you will be processed and treated exactly like a criminal.

You will be handcuffed, put in the back of a squad car, brought to jail and charged with murder, finger-printed, put in a cell, interrogated by a homicide detective, investigated, and you whole life turned upside down... even when you are innocent until proven guilty. A good defense lawyer in a murder trial will cost you upwards of $50,000.00 even if you are found innocent! But $50K is nothing when it means the difference between them dying or me dying... or one of my loved ones dying. That’s right, the use of deadly force also applies to the defense of someone else’s life, as well... but that’s a huge gamble, if you’re willing to take it. I’ve seen how cruel this world can be and how cold hearted human beings can be to each other and in my eyes, I would much rather it be them than me on the other end of a gun... that’s why I carry. The Boy Scout motto is, “Always Be Prepared” and I promised you... JayBird is prepared, ALWAYS! Are you? That is the real question! Be safe and always be prepared. Don’t let your government take away your right to defend yourself... from THEM or the next guy. Life is precious and tomorrow is never guaranteed. God looks out for those that look out for themselves. VOTE for the candidates who believe in YOU. ... “my favorite saying is, an armed society is a polite society” and I’ve seen it to be true”.

Wyatt’s Lemonade PIEDMONT, SD at the BIGGEST motorcycle Rally in the world! In 2019 Wyatt Dennis sat on the porch of a house his parents were thinking about purchasing. It happened to be in the middle of Sturgis Rally and an idea was born. Wyatt told his parents that if they purchased the house, he wanted to do a lemonade stand the following year during Rally. When 2020 rolled around Wyatt was ready. The lemonade stand idea was put into action. Wyatt wanted to purchase a Lego set. Wyatt’s parents told him that he would be serving free lemonade to anyone who wanted some and at the end of Rally in turn for his hard work they would take him so he could buy the Lego set. On day one donations started rolling in. It was apparent that the Lego set would be easily obtainable so a new plan was set up for the money coming in. 50% would go into savings for college, 30% would go toward a charity of Wyatt’s choice, and 20% would go toward the Lego set. Instead of only being able to teach how hard work can get you what you want, the lemonade stand then became a lesson about saving, giving, and spending. Wyatt chose St. Jude Children’s Hospital for his charity because he wanted to help kids. In 2020 the lemonade stand brought in approximately $700 in donations and Wyatt was able to donate $200 to St. Jude.

In 2021 when Rally time rolled around Wyatt headed back down to Sturgis Road to set up his stand again. No one expected this year to be different than 2020 but in the first weekend the lemonade stand was set up, a wonderful lady named Tracy from Louisiana stopped a couple times and asked if she could post about the stand on Facebook. Tracy’s post was then picked up by Derek Swain, a Combat Vet Rider, who added to and reposted Tracy’s post, which went viral in a couple days’ time. People from all over not only were visiting the stand while in town for Sturgis but also were donating for virtual glasses of lemonade. Wyatt’s story was picked up by local news stations, newspapers, Fox and Friends, and a Fox station out of Minnesota which led to word of the stand reaching coast to coast.

Wyatt has a Facebook page (Wyatt’s Lemonade), Instagram (wyattslemonade), and also a website (wyattslemonade.com) Wyatt looks forward to seeing everyone at the stand! Take exit 40 (Tilford) off I90. If traveling toward Sturgis get off at exit 40 and take a left. Go over the highway and take Sturgis Road ¾ mile back toward Rapid. Wyatt’s Lemonade is on the right side of the road next to Tilford Gulch Campground. Look for the giant lemonade flag!

After everything was said and done, Wyatt was able to give $32,500 to St. Jude in 2021. He returned in 2022 and gave $21,000, 2023 he gave $21,568 to finish off the season with amazing corporate support. Wyatt plans to continue to do his lemonade stand every year as long as people continue to come. He hopes everyone who comes to town for Rally will come stop by and say hello!!!

The Bul Chro

By: Bob Seymour What a long strange journey it has been and what an enormous amount of learning experiences I’ve been through. I’ve learned a lot about death and life, love and hate and a million other things from broken relationships to the loyalty of dogs and people while traveling across America. But of all the lessons I’ve learned none has been more profoundly life changing than the necessity of knowing and trusting the love and faithfulness of God to keep me safe and to provide for me. He kept me alive when I thought I was about to be killed by a couple of crack/heroine addicts and I can’t count the times I had near death experiences on the road when He intervened and kept exploding truck tires from taking my head off or somehow kept me from being hit or run off the road. I’ve been robbed at gunpoint, hit from behind and robbed, had things stolen off Bullwinkle and lost all of my most sentimental possessions. I’ve been so exhausted that I fell asleep while riding 3 times and He woke me up before I left the highway. I’ve been too broke to afford to buy food or stay in a cheap hotel and heard Him tell me to give up my last dollar and literally give some homeless people the clothes off my back and several of my tents and sleeping bags.

26

Through all the loneliness and the heartbreaks I have seen and experienced I have a lot to be thankful for. I’ve seen and continue to see the goodness of God manifest in so many ways every day. He has taught me to see myself and others through His eyes and given me the opportunity to help the helpless and to love the unlovable in ways only He can. He taught me to appreciate the little things that I used to take for granted and to love in ways I never knew was possible. Today I am thankful for being given the grace and mercy to be able to share His love with so many people and to see His favor and blessings begin to grow in them. I love my God more today than I ever have and I’m thankful that He allowed me to know Him in the storm of hardships I live in. He is indeed a loving father and He cares about every detail of my life. I am thankful for all I have and all I lost and gave up because I know Him more intimately today than I ever have in my 40+ years of being a believer......

the good news! Rodger Duvall ~ Jesus Freak Thee Redeemed House biker Church

”Wanna Ride With Him”

I stopped spending money on other things not related to riding behind bars.

Remembering back 30 years ago working hard at my Job and getting to a place financially to afford my first Harley.

My whole focus and lifestyle changed, it was now all about the future weekends of riding and planning for the ride.

I had always thought about and looked forward to riding and riding with others, just the thought of actually owning a big bike, not just owning a t-shirt.

Pondering, thinking, planning, and preparing for the future ride out of where I was at during the week.

Oh, I was given two t-shirts back then when I purchased my bike and have been given more with the 3 bikes I’ve owned since. It’s said we actually buys a $27,000 t-shirt and they give you the bike for free. Lo

Always looking forward to what I was always looking forward to what was planned.

Thinking back when I worked everyday, putting in the overtime, working even on some Saturdays. Building up my savings for my prized possession. Only after I road my new bike home I realized I need to keep putting in the extra time to customize my bike and money for any road trips.

As a Christian Biker, I’ve always looked forward to what Christ had worked overtime for a future ride for all believers anticipating what Jesus has planned since day one. One day, we who are alive now will ride staggered behind Jesus in the ride of all rides, He’s done the work, worked overtime, saving up all that will be needed for ever for all eternity! Look and pray and be watchful for His rally announcement be aware of Jesus’ home land Isreal, where kick stands will be up and engines running to throttle up with no stop signs, Forever... Wanna ride with Him, us ? Then get ready, believe on The Lord Jesus The Christ! “Jesus Freak” Rodger.

WUV For Warrior Charity Ride 2023 RALEIGH, NC Tobacco Road HD

Story: Jennifer Somerville Photo: Belles & Beaus Photography

Warrior is a one (1) year old sweet boy with birth defects to his front legs. He was an owner surrender to Paw Project in April 2023. The vet has explained that his growth plate stopped growing but his ulna bone continued to grow which resulted in how his legs developed. We have had three vet consults in attempts of finding a surgeon that can do the surgeries. Even if we do not find a doctor, he will need some sort of device to help him with walking. Saturday August 19, 2023 Tobacco Road Harley-Davidson of Raleigh, NC helped Paw Project host a “Wuv for Warrior” Charity Ride. The event was a huge success which resulted in us raising $1,518.00 for Warrior. Warrior truly is loved by many all over and this event proved just that. He spent his day hanging out with his fans at Tobacco Road, Plan B Biker Bar, and Binky & Bell. This is just the beginning of Warrior’s Events. For anyone that would like to follow Warrior’s progress his facebook page is Warrior’s Miracle. We are accepting donations via Venmo@pawproject and PayPal: Pawprojectnc@outlook. com. Please make sure to put Warrior in the memo line so that is goes into his special account. Warrior’s next stop will be at Revival 1869 in Clayton, NC on November 5th at 5pm.

From The Mi Hello

Hello my happy people! As my mind starts to sift through countless thoughts of everything that’s going on in the world. I try to take a minute to focus on what really matters. I just recently attended a ride the club does every year since our brother, Daytona was killed by a drunk driver all those many years ago. Nasty, our President, stood by the Jackson store sign, that the club has designated as the meeting spot to remember Daytona. He looked over the club and the supporters that have gathered around and said true heart felt words describing this lifestyle we hold so close...that being a biker is dangerous. We love this thrill. The wind in our faces. The turning back the throttle and listening to those pipes scream. We ride no matter the weather. No matter the heat, the cold, the sleet and the rain. We ride. We ride and embrace this life, not just because we love it, by ourselves but we share this love with everyone who enjoys it with us. I’ve made more friends and acquaintances in the biker world than I’ve ever made on my own. I know people from all over and even quite a bit from this magazine. As soon as someone sees you pull up on your bike they are drawn to speak to you. They come up and say, “ Hey man, nice bike.” “ Hey man, I used to ride too.. “ or “ man, I still wish I had mine.” I met one of my best friends that I had for over 20+ years through motorcycles. I’ve got friends from high school that ride with me. The club I’m in ( Unspoken Sons MC ) became my family. I’ve met old timers that will tell you about the life on the road and their stories should be printed in gold and placed in a Biker Bible something. This life man, it’s all because of a motorcycle. I met my wife, the absolute love of my life. I met her because of a motorcycle.

My Happy People!

Bruh! We have a whole family together. There’s children growing up and becoming members of our society man, because of a motorcycle. Hell!! My entire Facebook is nothing but a motorcycle family reunion page or something. Yeah, I’ve got a few friends from high school or maybe a buddy from work. But I’m all up in the biker community. It’s not something I can’t just wipe my hands of it. It’s my whole life. Now I’m really about to drop my soul up here with y’all. Because I’ve been struggling with a love I have for two different pieces in my life. The biker I am and the Daddy I am for my family. I can’t help but be torn between the two huge parts of my life. I love it. I live it. Its one of the biggest parts of my life. My passion, my relaxed thoughts, a part of my soul. Riding made a big part of me. I stepped in to this life because of my obsession with being as close to my father who passed on so many years ago. He loved to ride and it was a big part of his life, he truly enjoyed it. I wanted to share that same experience because in a way I felt like he was riding with me. The other part of my life. Oh my God! I am a man who’s insatiably and completely consumed by a love for his family. I live for them, and I’d die for them without a hesitation if it’s to protect them. They who I wake up to every morning, they are who I kiss good night to every night. They are who I work for. Who I think about just about all day at work. My wife is my absolute hands down best friend and soul mate. With her, there’s us, no me. That’s my struggle. I’m standing at a cross roads and where I don’t ever want something to happen to me. To where it takes me away from them. My family needs me. To get killed on the bike, would impact them way worse than one of my brothers or biker friends. If I was to die, they may ride in my memory. Take a part of my ashes, or maybe type out a patch of memory in my name. This would be awesome of course but my family would be devastated. Not just that day, but days, nights, years. Every moment of their life from the day I died for many years on will have an impact of me being gone. That’s a reality I take for granted every single time I put my leg over that motorcycle. So here I am. I’m torn, so I compromise with two lives. I made a few promises to myself, But Will I ever stop riding? The answer is...No..

We make risks everyday. Life is life, and there’s some things we can change but there’s those we can’t. Saying that if you stop riding motorcycles you will somehow save your life. Yeah...that’s like being a jogger because you are a health nut but then tragically get killed by a passing car while you’re running. I can’t say I will ever stop riding. But yeah, I hate seeing the roster of my brothers who ride, end up being a memorial patch. Nasty is right. This life we live is dangerous. People are completely ignorant. They travel mindlessly at 80 mph with a phone glued to their face. Drunks don’t like staying put when they are drunk. They like to get behind a wheel and risk killing everyone. Hell, I this happened not long ago. I’ve not said a word other than to my wife. I left the club on our recent anniversary night. As I was heading home, I took a side road to cut my time. As I was heading down the road. I was being blinded by an on coming car. I flashed my head light to let them know you’ve got your brights on. But after a few flashes, they never turned down their light. Then to make matters worse, as we were approaching each other, I noticed that the car was in my lane. I started to back off on the throttle to see if I could...one, see if I was right and this car is in my lane coming towards me, and two...to have time to get off the road without hurting my bike and myself. As the car flew passed me, I had barely made it off the road. The car never slowed down, or tapped a single break light. It was as if they never saw me. It scared me so bad I was shaking. Do I believe they were trying to kill me, scare me, or just plain drunk? I truly believe they were drunk. The car never moved out of my lane until it got close to the stop sign. My reality changed. I can’t unsee what I saw. I can’t push away what happened. My life could have been seriously changed. So, was this God telling me something? I don’t know. I am going to ride but my head is going to forever be on a swivel. Which sucks because now a small piece of freedom broke off at the corner. I can no longer feel that feeling. But my love for riding...it’s still here BAHAHAHA! Hard headed? Absolutely... Y’all, please be safe out there. We love this life, but we can’t lose respect for it. Not one dead biker wanted to ride to die, they wanted to live to ride, I promise ya. Sorry so serious in this one y’all. But it was in my heart and that’s how I like to live my life. To keep it solid and keep it real. So I’ll holler at y’all next time..

Blue Knights NC Chapter 2 GARNER, NC On September 16th the Blue Knights NC Chapter 2and Whole Vet teamed up for the Motor Muscle Excursion to benefit those who fight for our freedoms overseas and those who protect us at home. The ride started at the Garner Veterans Memorial where we had 21 bikes and 2 vehicles show up and show their support. They took a 30 mile back roads ride to Garden State Grill where the participants enjoyed great food, music, and a small car show by the Little River Car Club. Whole Vet strives to create a platform that serves our military and veteran community. Whole Vet helps them to make connections to find jobs and internships. It also provides them with the opportunity to team up with people and organizations who can provide mentorship and really care to help our military readjust to civilian life. The Blue Knights strive to raise money for family’s of officers who were killed or injured in the line of duty, and let them know there is an organization that cares about them and is here to help. They also help their local community by providing donations and time for causes to improve the lives of those who need it. The Blue Knights also strive to build relationships between the local motorcycle community and the police. Dale Robbins, founder and president of Whole Vet and Greg Toback, Director of Blue Knights Chapter 2 out of Wake County, put this ride together from a vision to help our heroes and communities and look forward to working together on future rides that will benefit these two great organizations. Both Whole Vet and the Blue Knights are recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations. Everything that is raised in these two organizations is donated and to good causes. There is another Motor Muscle Excursion being planned for September 21st 2024 that will include even more. You will not want to miss this event so mark your calendars now. I encourage everyone to come out and support this great cause for our military and our officers. For more information about Whole Vet check out their Facebook page: “Whole Vet Building Lives Together” and for the Blue Knights NC chapter 2 visit “Blue Knights Wake County Supporters”.

CONWAY, SC SC Copperheads Low Country Crew For the last several months the SC Copperheads Low Country Crew have been holding a fundraiser for Help4Kids/BackPack Buddies of Myrtle Beach. OLD MULE

BBQ ~ Marinade ~ Dipping Sauce

Old Mule

began as homemade Christmas gifts for family and friends during the 1980’s. Over the years we (Cheryl & Steve) refined our recipe and were eventually prodded by family and friends into starting a business. That was 1990. It only took us another 6 years to actually get our business off the ground (two new careers and 3 children later). Our children have grown up in the business (though, sometimes less enthusiastically than other times) and have been able to learn everything from cooking and maintenance to book-keeping, marketing and tax law. And always, working with people! Our family and community have always been priorities as our business continues to grow. The name “Old Mule” came out of an appreciation for the working mules of the past. Our parents and grandparents told stories of the mules with which they farmed for many years. We were looking for a good name that tied to our farming background and the farm mules that were once so common (Cheryl’s father wanted to name her after his favorite childhood mule, but her mother forbid it….but that’s another story…In keeping with that era, we package Old Mule Sauce in a style reminiscent of the old time general store. Today, we continue to cook Old Mule ourselves on our family farm in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina. It seems few companies actually MAKE what they sell or put their label on. Since our beginning, this “made by our family” principle has been important to us (though not always easy). Because of this, we take great pride in our products! We do not try to be “all things to all people” or set a “new North American record for sales growth”. Our goal is simply to provide our customers with a unique, high-quality sauce that will add something special to their gatherings and meals with friends and family..

42

You can find Old Mule products at Food Lion stores and many other businesses. See their website where you can purchase one jar, a pack of jars, gift boxes and even jugs!!! Old Mule is all-natural… is gluten-free and contains no high-fructose corn syrup, soy, MSG, or artificial preservatives! www.OldMule.com We love Old Mule on everything we have tried! We even use it as a dipping sauce for nuggets and fries. We will be featuring recipes here with Old Mule products in Behind Barz Mag. Given them a try. You’ll fall in love, too! Would make great Christmas gifts and they are a biker friendly business!

Cooking with The Kitchen Goat *Smoked Turkey Wing Drumettes with Mountain Apple BBQ Sauce* *Ingredients:* - 3 pounds of turkey wings-approximately 4 whole wings - 1 tablespoon of Old Mule Rub Everything seasoning - 1/3 cup of Old Mule Mountain Apple BBQ sauce - 3 cups of Mount Olive pickle juice

*Instructions:* 1. Marinate the turkey wings in 3 cups of Mount Olive pickle juice overnight. (Another “Biker Friendly”, NC based company). 2. The next day, cut the turkey wings into drumettes and flats, discarding the wing tips.

The “Kitchen Goat” Jason Knapp Once a history teacher, he now raises goats in Nash County, NC, but he’s always had a passion for cooking. At the beginning of the COVID pandemic, he started posting cooking videos on YouTube. “I called it ‘Cooking a la Quarantine’ and once everything lifted up someone said, ‘Why don’t you call it ‘Kitchen Goat’ and I said, ‘That’s so stupid. Let’s try it,’” Read more about the Kitchen Goat in the next issue of BB. In the meantime, check out his Facebook page for more recipes and see what he is doing for local cancer patients. www.facebook.com/jasonknappthekitchengoat

3. Soak apple wood chips in water for at least 30 minutes, or up to 8 hours. 4. Prepare your grill for indirect cooking and preheat it to 250 degrees F (120 degrees C). 5. Sprinkle the soaked wood chips over the burner and coat the grill grate with nonstick cooking spray. 6. Rub the turkey wing pieces with Old Mule Rub Everything seasoning. 7. Place the seasoned wings on the cooler side of the grill. 8. Close the grill lid and smoke the wings until they reach an internal temperature of 165 degrees F, which should take about 1 hour and 30 minutes to 2 hours. 9. About an hour into the smoking process, brush Old Mule Mountain Apple BBQ sauce over the wings to caramelize the sauce. 10. Remove the smoked wings from the grill and let them rest for 10 minutes before serving. 11. Serve the smoked turkey wing drumettes with extra Mountain Apple BBQ sauce on the side for dipping. Enjoy your delicious smoked turkey wings with a flavorful twist! ~ Kitchen Goat

STICKERS For 19 years we have included stickers in each issue of the magazine. I personally put each

and every sticker in each and every copy myself (Doobie)!!! Here lately folks have gotten bad about pulling stickers out of many copies... I guess because they like the stickers so much. It has happened in the past but not like it has the last few issues. It is unfair to others who pick up a copy of the magazine only to find that their copy does not have a sticker. So, starting with the Jan-Feb 2023 issue of Behind Barz we are not going to place stickers in each copy. We will have stickers available for FREE but you have to send a self addressed, stamped envelope to our PO Box listed on previous page. We will then send you the sticker that goes with this issue (if you write “BLUE SPARKLE” on the envelope) plus we will throw in 3 more stickers, of our choice. We hate this has to be done but with the time it takes to place each sticker in every copy and then people are pulling the stickers out we feel that this is the best way to do it right now. Thanks for your continued support! We still have lots of killer prizes from our sponsors on the previous page to give away. So remember, you can’t win it if you don’t stick it!
