Raleigh Clayton Area Riders - RCA Butt SaddleSore 1000
1000 miles in 24 hours or less. That is what it takes to earn the certification for the Iron Butt SaddleSore 1000. Lee Chamblee of Zebulon, NC made the decision he was going to accept this challenge once again. This would be his third SaddleSore, but his first time setting one up and taking the lead. Initially there were going to be close to a dozen bikes total, but unfortunately for reasons beyond their control some just couldn’t join. In addition to Lee the others that joined on this ride were Jay & Michelle Honeycutt (Linden, NC), Joseph Jones (Garner, NC), Justine Homiak (Knightdale, NC), Denise Southerland (Garner, NC), Robert ‘BobCat’ Spurgeon & Chris Perry (Clayton , NC). On Friday July 9th at 7 pm the group of eight (six bikes, 2 passengers) met at Redneck BBQ Lab in McGee’s Crossroads. Reaching the meet up spot proved to be a challenge in itself for some of us with torrential downpouring rain complete with thunder and lightening.
