motor maids travel to Anamosa, ia. In June, 2011 Dianne G., Debi M., Bonnie S. and myself Glennadine G., VP of the Motor Maids, left at 2 PM for Anamosa, IA. The National Motorcycle Museum there wanted to put up an exhibit about our Motor Maid history. Ginny W. & I have been checking into motorcycle museums that may be interested in our memorabilia for about a year now. Mark Mederski, from the National MC Museum e-mailed Brenda, our President, enquiring about the Motor Maids. So, this one just happened to fall into our laps and would give us some experience on how to deal with other museums. Mark Mederski’s crew put together a great story line on our history from 1940 to 2010, and another story line on the achievements of our past seven Presidents. There were mannequins wearing some of our riding clothes from the 40’s & 50’s. Our past and present uniforms, were displayed, as well as, riding boots & hats. A glass showcase had many items, including a trophy from the Most Popular Girl contest from the 50’s in Daytona Beach. This was a contest for lady riders during the 40’s & 50’s. They also had an antique bike show. I had the honor of being one of the bike show judges for the American class, Harleys and Indians. That was not an easy job for there were so many nice ones. Mark also asked me to be the trophy girl, how cool was that for a grandma! We had 34 Motor Maids from 17 states there to help with the “Grand Re-opening”. The Anamosa museum is a bike lover’s dream. They have all brands of antique motorcycles, American and foreign. If you are riding thru IA, it is a must see!!! There are 275 motorcycles spanning over 100 years of history. John Parham is President of the Board of Directors of the National Motorcycle Museum. He also owns the America Inn where we stayed and the JP Cycle Company next door.

Final flight for
atlantis
the crew 8
CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. (AP)
--
Atlantis and four astronauts thundered into orbit, July 8, 2011 on NASA's last space shuttle voyage, writing the final chapter in a 30-year story of dazzling triumphs, shattering tragedy and, ultimately, unfulfilled expectations. After days of gloomy forecasts full of rain and heavy cloud cover, the spaceship lifted off at 11:29 a.m. and just 2 minutes late. The crowd of spectators was estimated at nearly 1 million. When Atlantis touched down July 21,2011 at Cape Canaveral, Fla., the high-flying era of the space shuttles came down to earth as well. After 30 years, the shuttle program, which began on April 12, 1981 with Colombia, has ended with the 135th mission. Atlantis delivered the Raffaello multi-purpose logistics module packed with supplies and spare parts to the International Space Station, and retrieved a failed pump unit and other items for the return trip. Atlantis went aloft 33 times, logging over 125 million miles. The last shuttle will become a museum exhibit at the Kennedy Space Center. Seven million pounds of thrust from the shuttle's rocket booster carried the vehicle into orbit one last time, at speeds of up to 19,000 miles per hour, for an expected meeting with the International Space Station. The crew -- Commander Chris Ferguson, Pilot Doug Hurley, Mission Specialist Sandy Magnus and Mission Specialist Rex Walheim The highly-anticipated flight of Atlantis is the 135th and last for the U.S. space shuttle program, leaving Russia's space capsules as the sole option for astronauts heading to and from the International Space Station.

Cba swap meet This year the CBA took out April and brought in May with a BLAST! Once again, they held their annual CBA Swap Meet at the Wilson County Fairgrounds the end of April and beginning of May. Although the CBA fights for the rights of bikers, they also advocate Bike Awareness in local towns, but on this particular weekend they held games, sold beer, and invited all out to enjoy the fun. With help from CBA Chapters from around the state there was something for everyone, with prizes to be won by all. Those that attended were treated to the sounds of two DJs during the course of the weekend and several vendors were on hand to help get your ride ready for the 2011 riding season. However, the big show was the bike show with participants coming in from all over to show what they rode and hoping to take home a prize. The winners this year were:
Sport: Matt Shamblin Stock 1200 & under: Russ Braswell with Scott Talbot taking 2nd place Modified 1200cc & under: Walt Elliott Trike-: George Baldwin Modified 1201cc & over: Scott Talbot Custom: Ken Miller Radical: Paul Schrorder Stock 1201 & over Ken Jahna Touring: Billy Hammock Rat: Stewart Vester With the bike show over the grand finale was the Pudding Wrestling Contest. However, since there wasn’t but one entry the referee, Charlie Boone got into the pool of chocolate pudding and wrestled Jessica Pounds. I have to say to be as small as she was she showed Charlie some real moves he won’t forget as Jessica was voted the Winner in Pudding Wrestling.
Big winner in the CBA Bike Show, Scott Talbot. Winners of the best and worst hands were: John Frasier for Best Hand and Worst Hand went to Robert Hagny.
Once all the drawings were done the 50/50 winner was announced and David Phillips who won, donated $112.50 back to CBA. Among the many independent riders that came out to the CBA events in the month of May other participants included members from Tuscarora MC, The Dragon Slayers MC, Edgecombe and Nash County Ghost Riders.
Look Twice save a Life Motorcycles are Everywhere
Although the weekend was slow for the Swap Meet, CBA didn’t give up. On May 21st they hosted their annual CBA Poker Run and Gun Raffle at Bob’s Pub in Stantonsburg, NC. Bob and Debra were ready for the crowd as they began rolling in that morning. You could tell that a day full of riding with stops to talk and enjoy a cold one or two was exactly what the doctor ordered for all participating. With close to 40 bikes, the ride split into 2 groups heading out at different times...all heading to the stops set up including: Country Times in Goldsboro, Georges Tavern in Bel Arthur, Sand Dollar in Snow Hill, The Breeze in Elm City and then back to Bobs Pub for a menu of hamburgers, hot dogs, French fries, deviled eggs, chips, and desserts.

While waiting for the door prize and Gun Raffle drawings the riders held a bike show with Kevin Parrish taking the Best Bike Award. Guests could also indulge their creativity with the help of Sandman’s Tattoos and Piercings who were set up to make their ink dreams a reality. Around 5pm the much awaited drawing for the guns began with the winner being: Steven Guinn - Martin 30/30, Dewey Futch – Mossberg 12 gauge, Hubert Bowen – New England SS w/ scope, and Chris Winstead – Ruger LCP 380.
Thanks to all that came out to support the CBA. As always, the CBA pulled out all the stops both at the Swap Meet and at Bob’s Pub, not only to make everyone attending feel welcomed, but also making sure they all had a really good time. So remember: Look Twice * Save A Life * Motorcycles Are Everywhere!
ghost riders mandatory As the country lighted their grills or headed to the beach for Memorial Day weekend, others were cranking their bikes and heading to DC for the Ride to the Wall in Remembrance of those that gave the ultimate sacrifice in preserving our life of freedom. While the members of the NC Ghost Riders prepared to celebrate this particular weekend as a brotherhood – TOGETHER. Nash County Ghost Riders outside of Gold Rock, NC was the host chapter for this event with all North Carolina Chapters lending a hand where needed. Members from the ghost Rider MC began arriving on Friday to get good camping spots, by late that night there were approximately 35 guests already getting the party started. With a rain storm on Friday night and early Saturday morning the weather didn’t dampen the spirits of the riders coming in and they were ready to help the guys celebrate their freedom, their Club and Brotherhood, and their fallen heroes. Saturday, there were well over 100 people at the Nash County Clubhouse, including Ghost Riders from Illinois (Nomad), TN, and WV, NC members from Avery, Duplin, Edgecombe, Lenior, Rockwell, Scotland, and Wilson Counties. There were also members from the Scorpions, Doctors Town Guard, Leather and Lace MC, CBA and many independent riders.
Hoss adding more chicken.
While guests were preparing to try their hands at a few of the games getting ready to begin, Hoss (Wilson Co GR) sat by the grill assuring the chicken would be cooked to perfection, while Landon Buck was busy selling her Black Widow Accessories, and Storm set up a board with a variety of homemade dew rags she had made to sell. If you just couldn’t wait till the evening meal the guys had hamburgers and hot dogs to help fill that empty spot till the chicken was ready to be served. With skies clearing, the games began and the winners included: Pool - Bubba/Lenior Co GR, Horseshoes - Whisky/ WVA and Blandman/TN, Plank Ride – DJ/Rockwell GR, and Slow Ride – Dan Flores (an independent rider and guest. As the games finished up the Club announced that the evening meal was ready. Guests lined up to get a plate of grilled /fried chicken or BBQ and their choice of snaps, potatoes or slaw. After eating the crowd began breaking out their lawn chairs while the members of C-4 (the band) started getting ready to treat the crowd with the night’s music for the evening. As always trophies were handed out for the winners of the games during the bands break and also the trophies for Most Members Present – TN and Most Members Riding – Lenior County, were handed out. The Club also handed out door prizes during the band breaks and after all prizes were distributed out C-4 played to the delight of the crowd till the early morning. The guys put on an awesome party with everyone attending enjoying the weekend of games, friends, brotherhood, food and music. Great job guys and thanks for a GREAT WEEKEND….

WEST GLACIER, Mont. --70-year-old Richard “Dick” Fish of Alberta Canada died in a slow speed multi-vehicle accident in Glacier National Park while participating in The Good, The Bad & The Ugly rally. Park rangers say Fish was driving a motorcycle when it crashed with a vehicle 5:30 Saturday night. Nobody else was hurt. Although details of the accident remain sketchy, the investigating officer called it a "freak accident" that did not involve speed, lack of rest (it happened only a few hours into the rally), or an animal. Riders on the scene said there was little damage to the motorcycle. Dick was one of the Iron Butt Association’s most skilled and experienced riders. Perhaps his most significant accomplishment was a 21-day, record-setting ride from Prudhoe Bay, Alaska on the Arctic Ocean to Ushuaia, Argentina, at the end of the road in South America. Dick was also an exceptional dirt bike rider and an expert mechanic --- a trait he would put to good use on his Iron Butt Rally rides. Also in memory of his close friend Jim Young, Dick devised and was the first rider to complete a stunning ride from Prudhoe Bay, Alaska to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, Key West, Florida and Goose Bay, Labrador, and concluding in central

Colorado. Fittingly, the ride has become known as the Ultimate North America Insanity. At one time, until the shutting down of Buell he was also highly involved with Buell and for a couple of years went straight to Daytona after the AHDRA FL drag races, with Walt Sipp as his rider, to race in the Daytona 200. Dick was also a commercial pilot with Air Canada for 30 years. As a businessman, he at one time raised Bison in Cardston, Alberta Canada. He was also a sponsor, race promoter, avid 1/4 mile drag racer who lived in his hauler behind Eagle HD in Lafayette IN, for sometimes a month at a time making sure any motors, equipment etc. that were hurt in the prior race were fixed and ready for the next race. He would also drive thousands of miles all over, to get to races, pick up parts and or bikes. This year he put up the money for the AHDRA race in Tulsa to add an extra event to the schedule and also co-sponsored the AHDRA S/G class. At 70 years of age I don't think there's anyone who put more miles on a motorcycle in a lifetime. The motorcycle community will greatly feel the loss of it's best & most accomplished ambassador, God Bless.

Behind Barz Pres at Uncle yammy’s in goldsboro
The Behind Barz Presentz Bike Nightz series has been pretty awesome! Our bike nightz at Uncle Yammy’s in Goldsboro and CycleMax in Wilson were two of our biggest, yet! Uncle Yammy’s had pulled pork for everyone and Budweiser was on hand with their Freightliner and Bud giveaways. They had cornhole in the parking lot and bands throughout the evening. CycleMax put on a burnout exhibition! The “Greenvillains” were on hand, or on skate, actually! The group, “All My Rowdy Friends” rocked the night! Vinny signed his autograph, Mr. V and VP sat in on a few burnouts and Uncle Don danced the night away! Pretty awesome BB Bike Nightz, to say the least! Check the schedule on page 14 for all the upcoming Behind Barz Presentz Bike Nightz !!! There are only three more left!

The Opportunity that Sta We live in a time where there is an “opportunity” being presented to us all every time we turn around. With all these “opportunities” how can we possibly distinguish which one is right for us? Further more, how do we know if it is legal, legitimate, and not something that will cost you more than you will make? There are many great opportunities to be found but unfortunately there are many to stay away from, as well. This type of business is the #1 way in America for the average person to reach extreme wealth, however it also has burned many along the way! Here is what Harvard Law School says you should look at before moving forward with any company. Harvard suggests you consider 5 major subjects before deciding to start a business.
COMPENSATION is what we all work for, how and what we get paid is extremely important. I would look at how much I had to sell compared to how much I got paid in return. For instance if I had to sell $1,000.00 of product to make a one time earning of $250.00, that would not be nearly as attractive as getting paid the same $250.00 for a $500.00 product. And the wealthy of the World know that you never do anything unless it comes with residual income. Market a product you can sell once and get paid on over and over again. This allows you to grow a book of business like an insurance agent and increase your pay every month.
We are the ONLY company that does what we do, the way we do it! So we have virtually no competition.
You need to know about the COMPANY. You need to be looking for a long track record of success and accolades that are from intelligent 3rd parties that have nothing to gain from their evaluation of the company. (Business Magazines, NYSE, Better Business Bureau, Chamber of Commerce, experienced people in the field you are looking into, etc.) By the way; this does not mean your broke brother-in-law or any family or friend in the same financial bracket as you. Don’t be fooled by the movie stars, talk show host, or any other icons that are PAID to say good things about a company! Stick with the facts and the unpaid companies or organizations that are there to find ONLY the facts.
The next thing you should consider is the NEED in the market place. Not ONLY the NEED but how many people already supply a product or service for that need. Think about it for a minute. There is a great need for cell phones, health products, make up, pots and pans, gas, groceries, and the list goes on and on. However all this and more can be bought from Wal-Mart and SEVERAL other places and individuals. I would think that it would be wise to offer something that can not be so readily purchased any where at prices as low or lower than you can sell your product. You can make money with these products but common sense has to kick in and say “I would make a lot more if I were the ONLY provider for this product”! One thing to factor in is also where can you sell that need? Do you HAVE to sell it one at a time or can you market to mass groups of people at once. The PRODUCT/SERVICE is key to your success. Does anyone need or want what you have to offer? I think it would be wise to offer a product that can not be denied by any intelligent person. To offer a product that has no boundaries when it comes to age, gender, race, or background and can be used by everyone. Marketing a product that can not easily be improved or copied is a good idea. A product that has the answer to a major problem in life is always a good choice. People often buy what makes their life easier or makes them feel safer. Something that can save money is also appealing to most. People like to buy not be sold. So a product where the value exceeds the price is a great way to allow people to want to buy your product.
26
TIMING is to business what location is to real estate. Now is not the time to market pay phones, 8 tracks, or black and white televi sions. However there was a time that these items were sought after by many of us. So make sure you market a product that is a NOW benefit and not liquidated by so many other companies offering the same or similar product. You always want to stay in front of and not be behind the marketing curb.
There are very few opportunities like this but if you look they can be found. In my opinion one company has all of these attributes and is worth your time to look into if you are looking for more out of life. According to FORBES Magazine for the last decade this company has ranked in the best 200 small business’s to be a part of in the U.S., Tom Donahue (the CEO and President of the National Chamber of Commerce) has DVD’s on this company’s behalf, it is now the fastest growing benefit in America, spent over 30 years on the NYSE, completely debt free and recently partnered up with one of the largest branding companies in the World with over 3 Billion in assets, a service that is sold to individuals, companies, small businesses, Cities, States, Counties, and has all the training to allow you to make a full or part time income immediately. If you are one of those people who always wanted an opportunity but it seemed you were never there at the right time, this could be for you! So what make this company so attractive? This company markets Legal and Identity Theft Plans. We are the ONLY company that does what we do, the way we do it! So we have virtually no competition. How many people do you know that are going through an issue where an attorney could be used for a better out come? At 2, 3, 4 hundred dollars an hour and up; who can afford it? Are you or do you know anyone going through issues such as; divorce, separation, child custody, bankruptcy, foreclosure, workman’s comp, being audited, collection’s, needs a will, traffic tickets, denied social security, buying or selling a home, insurance claim, tax question, racial profiling, credit matter, contracts, who has a teenage driver, owed money, property dispute, and the list goes on? Odds are that one of these categories hits close to home.
www.behindbarz.com
ands Out Above the Rest Chances are YOU or someone in your family have something right now you would like advice on if you didn’t have to pay that three hundred dollar an hour attorney to hear it! Well, that is just a very small example of the things the company can handle from free to a minimum discount of 25%. Identity theft (the fastest growing white collar crime in America) is also covered. Not only is your financial identity protected but your character/criminal, social security, medical, and driver’s licenses are protected with our plan. Your children from birth to 18 can be monitored, as well, to make sure know one is able to ruin their future and it be undetected until they reach adulthood. And one of the biggest differences you will experience with our company is; if any part of your identity is tampered with, you just sign a limited power of attorney and let our companies work to restore your good name. You get all of this for you and your family for less than a bottle of water a day. Isn’t your family worth it? There is one more thing to think about. I feel most people miss when searching for an opportunity. HISTORY seems to repeat itself and we should ALL learn from this. MOST companies want you to become part of the company in order to save money or get your product for free. A good product will always have more customers than associates. A good product sells itself and is an obvious value without having to make money to afford to use the product. Ask yourself “How long could I, or the majority of my friends, afford this product IF we were to not market it?” Also ask yourself “Am I going to have to train myself to live considerably different than I have in the past?” If so, how many people are going to be able to maintain this for long periods of time. Think about it; How many people make New Years resolutions? Now… How many stick to them for any length of time? These are real questions to ask yourself before you decide to put your efforts into something that may or may not be sustainable. Also, ask yourself how many times over the last few years has this product been improved and how many companies have come and gone by selling it. How many people have jumped from one company to a similar company just because it is slightly improved? This is a BIG one! When someone advertises they have “won” something or the company has “given” them something for reaching a goal; Find out if it REALLY is a prize they own and have earned OR is it something that the company will help pay for as long as they meet certain criteria every month. There is a BIG difference between OWNING something the company awarded you and being assisted in buying “your prize” as long as you meet your quotas. Well I am here to tell you that more than 70% of through this business is customers only! In 40 years NO ONE has been able to do what they do. EVERYONE NEEDS the service regardless of age, weight, race, religion, gender, etc. It is a service that can not be denied as useful by any person and really saves individuals and families a lot of time, money, and stress. And the best thing is; once it is sold the company does the rest. And at a cost anyone can afford. Now there is residual income and something you can rely on for years to come! If you too can see the value in this service or feel you would like to also become an Independent Associate as myself here are some places you can find more information. You can work as a network or as a direct selling job. This allows you to make a part time income or an IMMEDIATE full time income with unlimited income potential and a chance to be your own boss. We need people to market individual and/or group benefits. You have the ability to work in your area of expertise. Feel free to learn more about what I do at www.tonybasford.com or you can call me personally at 252-289-7399. Remember there is nothing like “Making a Living, While Making a Difference”! Charlie Mike 2011: IronMutt Rides Again Charlie Mike 2011 (CM2) was a totally pawsome success. CM2 departed the Harnett County Veterans Memorial in Lillington, NC a little after 11am on August 5, and returned to their starting point 24 hours later. This ride qualified the bikers for the IronButt Association’s (IBA) Saddlesore 1,000. This year, I think 32 bikes completed the ride. Last year, 14 bikes completed the ride in honor of the North Carolinians still listed as Missing in Action during the Vietnam War. This was the second IronButt ride held by the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association (CVMA) North Carolina Chapter 15-1. Why is it called Charlie Mike? Charlie Mike is phonetic for the letters C and M. In military terms, it means “continue the mission.” The mission (purpose) of this ride was to honor our Fallen Heroes and veterans of the Korean War, sometimes referred to as “The Forgotten War.” The Korean War started June 25, 1950 and an armistice (cease fire) went into effect on July 27, 1953. Technically, South Korea and north Korea (nK) are still at war because no peace treaty was signed. Most of the bikers rode for the mission and viewed the IronButt recognition as an added bonus rather than their purpose. Fuz and Gail Melton rode from Martinsville, VA to be part of this mission, and I think we rode in a pawgantic, 1,000-mile circle around their home. “Gundy” is the Commander (Leader) of CVMA NC 15-1 and had overall responsibility for CM2. “QuietMan” conducted the preride safety briefing, and “Cowboy” led the riders, families, and friends in prayer. God blessed us when he gave us Cowboy. Cowboy is a member of the Christian Motorcyclists Association and has a full-service motorcycle repair shop in his trailer: “Covered Wagon Services.” Jim Kazakavage flew a Gold Star flag on his yellow GoldWing, while his wife, Christi, was chauffeured by Ol’ Bill “Jammer” from sunny Durham on his Harley. I like to think that Jim’s GoldWing is Gold, not yellow, because it is symbolic of the Gold Star. Christi is the Gold Star Mother of Tech Sgt Adam K. Ginett, US Air Force, killed in action on 19 January 2010 in Afghanistan. On this mission, I brought the US flag that we carried across America in May 2011 in honor of our Fallen Heroes, while Thomas Sanders carried the Fallen Heroes roster from the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, a Christian Flag, an Honor and Remember Flag, and a Patriot Guard Riders flag.
I also wore the Gold Star bandana that I wore across America in honor of our Gold Star Mothers and Families. For those who do not know, a Blue Star Mother is a mother whose child is now serving or has served in our armed forces. A Gold Star Mother is a mother who lost a child while in service to our country. The Dogwood Chapter of the American Gold Star Mothers nominated and accepted me as an Associate Chapter Member in January 2011 because of what I do and have come to symbolize. I’m still barkless over being accepted by this truly honorable and exclusive organization of mothers whose children gave the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Because of the number of bikes, we were divided into two packs. The first pack left at about 11:10am led by QuietMan. The second pack left at about 11:30am led by Schmuck. Gundy led the first pack to a cemetery at Lebanon Methodist Church at Mill Spring, NC. We arrived at the cemetery shortly after the first pack departed, and Gundy was there to meet us, read a citation, and then he return to Lillington to prepare for the closing ceremony. At the church cemetery lies PFC Bryant Homer Womack. On March 12, 1952, PFC Womack was the only medic assigned to a night combat patrol. The patrol came into contact with a much larger nK force and the US patrol took casualties. PFC Womack provided medical aid to the wounded, although he, too, was also seriously wounded and refused medical aid. While helping a wounded soldier, he was hit by fragments from a mortar and lost use of his right arm. He refused medical aid again and helped the wounded by directing others in apply aid to the wounded. He was the last man to withdraw and collapsed due to blood loss. A few minutes later, he died while being carried by his fellow soldiers. PFC Womack was posthumously awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor, the highest award that a military man or woman can receive. Womack Army Hospital on Ft Bragg, NC was named after PFC Bryant H. Womack. We departed Mill Spring and ran into rain in Charlotte, NC and then south of Johnson City, TN. We didn’t run into rain at night, but we ran into rain again south of Richmond, VA and into North Carolina. We rode out of the rain by the time we arrived in Benson, and we had humidity and partly sunny skies on the final leg from Dunn, NC to Lillington. My driver and I have rain gear, which he calls sauna suits during the summer. With scattered thunderstorms during the summer, we carry our rain gear with us, but we usually prefer to get wet and cool off rather than put on our sauna suits.

IronMutt Rides Again We had two bikes that we know of that didn’t finish the ride due to mechanical or electrical breakdowns. We had problems with our engine shutting off when we were caught in Friday afternoon traffic nearly Shelby. At one point, our Harley was dead, wouldn’t fire up while we were coasting. We pulled off the road and the “Covered Wagon” pulled in behind us along with Cowboy, Thomas Sanders, and our pack’s tailgunner. My driver didn’t want to give up and was able to fire her up. She would run OK at highway speeds, but would die in stop-and-go traffic. Cowboy and my driver talked over the CB and they thought we may have had a load of bad gas (gasoline, that is, not digestive). After two more refuels, my Harley was running fine and we were OK, except for my occasional gas blasts that my driver could smell. It probably came from eating too much of my duck and chicken jerky along with snacks shared by my biker friends. But, that’s OK – it’s all part of the experience! We stopped for fuel, water and snacks about every 100 miles. The route took us up the Shenandoah Valley on I-81 at night. We crossed the 38th parallel at about Greenville, VA, which is the approximate latitude in which the Korean War ceased fire and the border became the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ). The two packs linked up on the interstate after midnight, and I think it was before we reached I-66 or soon after heading east on I-66 towards Washington, DC. We became one pack for the rest of the ride. We visited the Korean War memorial at about 4:00am, spent about 20-30 minutes there, took a group photo, then mounted up and headed south on I-95 to North Carolina. While at our final refuel stop in Benson, Wizard mounted flags on his bike, and we rode to Dunn to link up with waiting friends and family. My mom and my driver’s grandson, Chase, were also in Dunn to greet us. In Dunn, Harnett County Sheriff Deputies escorted the bikers, family and friends to Lillington. After arriving in Lillington, Gundy led the closing ceremony and introduced us to Paul Hinkle, a Korean War veteran. CVMA NC 15-1 Auxiliary presented me with a bandana and made me an Honorary Mascot of the Auxiliary. After the closing ceremony and group photos, there were handshakes, hugs, and ear scratches and many went to the VFW post in Lillington, which had lunch waiting for us. It was hot and humid and I know I would not be allowed in the VFW post due to health codes, so I took my driver home so he could give me a nice cool bath. I snoozed the rest of the day.
This ride was planned and coordinated pawtastically. Safety was important throughout the ride and there were no injuries. Will there be a Charlie Mike 2012? If so, where will they go and what will be the primary mission? Since dogs age much faster than humans, CM2 may have been my last long ride. If there is a CM3, we will decide whether or not I will be able to be part of the ride as the ride date approaches. I posted about 800 photos with some narratives of the ride on my Facebook page. Go to my website (www.bikerdoggie.com) to find the links to my photos. Unless something changes, you do not need a Facebook account to see these photos. What will I be doing over the coming weeks? I hope to ride in the USO Freedom Ride on September 10 at Ray Price Harley-Davidson in Raleigh, NC. I’ve been part of this ride since I mounted my Harley. Also, the Annual Ray Price Capital City Bikefest will be in Raleigh, NC on September 23-25. Since becoming a biker dog, the only Bikefest I missed was in 2009, which was about two weeks after my driver and I were hit while on our Harley. I hope to be there again this year, but I also plan to spend a few hours with Operation Helping Hands for Heroes at Benson Mule Days on September 24. On October 16, Abundant Life Worship Center in Angier, NC will be sponsoring a fund raiser for my friends at Patriot Rovers (www. patriotrovers.org), which is an organization that provides trained companion dogs to veterans with PTSD. David Cantara, the organization’s founder, says that the idea partially came from observing how I interact with grieving families and friends at military funerals. Ride safe and keep your tongue in the wind! Chewy IBA Member 35700
For those who follow me on my website or my Facebook page, you know that this is my second IronButt ride with CVMA NC 15-1. There were other two-time Charlie Mikers on this ride: QuietMan, Glock, Wizard, Brian Volk, John and Paula Edwards, and my driver. Last year, CVMA gave me the road name “IronMutt” after we passed the halfway point, and that road name stuck to me.
Auxiliary of CVMA NC 15-1 made me their honorary mascot.

Sturgis History
The city of Sturgis was founded in 1878 as a boom town catering to off-duty soldiers just outside the U.S. Cavalry’s Fort Meade and is named for Ft. Meade’s commander, Colonel Samuel D. Sturgis. Later it became a port of entry to the Black Hills goldfields. Today, Sturgis is known worldwide as “Motorcycle City USA” and hosts “Rodeos to Rallies.” A gateway community with 7,000 residents on I-90 at Exits 30 and 32, Sturgis features the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, Black Hills National Cemetery, Bear Butte State Park, Fort Meade Cavalry Museum, Sturgis Motorcycle Museum & Hall of Fame and Wonderland Cave. Enjoy the local public golf course and scenic drives through Vanocker Canyon or Boulder Canyon
Fort Meade Cavalry Museum
Fort Meade was established in 1878 to protect the gold seekers and settlers against hostile Sioux Indians, who saw the invasion as a break in the Black Hills Treaty of 1877. The treaty had designated the Black Hills and surrounding prairie as Sioux Indian land. The military installation lasted until 1944, outliving other frontier posts of the Upper Missouri West. The “Star Spangled Banner” was part of the evening military retreat ceremony at Fort Meade in 1892, long before it became our National Anthem and in effect, helped the song earn such national merit. The fort today is home to Fort Meade Museum, many original buildings, parade grounds and a Veterans Administration Hospital. Located two miles east of Sturgis on State Hwy. 34.
Bear Butte State Park
R Lee Ermey
Visitors to this sentinel mountain just east of Sturgis should stop at the Bear Butte Education Center. There you will learn the geological story of this almost-volcano; its role as a pioneer landmark; and its continuing role as a holy mountain and founding place of religion for several tribes of Plains Indians. From here, a two-mile trail makes the climb to the summit, the first trailhead of the 111-mile, Black Hills Centennial Trail. Visit the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum & Hall of Fame Home to an ever-growing variety of motorcycles, from vintage classics to modern customs. On display are a large selection of American and metric bikes dating form 1905 that are on loan from private individuals. Also featured are exhibits, photographs, memorabilia, and Sturgis Motorcycle Rally History.

seventh Annual the Good, the bad, and the ugly The 7th Annual = The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly Biker and Community Outreach Event was held on Saturday July 16, 2011 at Rosewood Worship Center in Goldsboro, NC. It was put on by Gilbert Baker Ministries and The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly Biker Church. It was also sponsored by Bikers for Christ of Wayne County, NC. We had a very special guest and speaker known as Fred Z., international pastor and founder of Bikers For Christ from San Diego, CA. Pastor Z flew in on Thursday and flew out on Monday while staying at the home of RevG (pastor of The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly Biker Church). It was such a joy to have been a member and elder of the BFC organization and finally getting the founder and brother in our home. G and Z put on lots of rode miles before finally burning out and chilling down late Sunday evening. There were at times a lot of our fellow BFC brothers and sisters riding and tagging along. All proceeds above and beyond expenses go right back into other outreaches in Wayne County and the surrounding counties. We had free hotdogs, drinks, chips, cake, cookies and all the fixings including RevG secret recipe chili for all those that attended. There were several live bands including High Road, King’s Crest, Direct Message, South River, and Walking By Faith. The sound production was done by a wonderful brother (Ronald Anderson) from the Praise Out Loud Band. There was a poker run, a bike show with six different classes, and a best of show with trophies awarded to each class. We had many door prizes provided by GBU Biker Church, Cycle Maxx, and Sandmanz Tattoo Company. Our special thanks to all involved in helping this a bang for God’s Kingdom and to Behind Barz and Full Throttle Magazines for promoting this event. It was truly a wonderful day and we give God the glory! Thanks to all our BFC brothers and sisters and all others who joined us at this event and hope to see more of you next July! I would also like to thank Pastor Lynn Epps and all members for allowing us to use the Rosewood Worship Center. We are all about showing compassion to those in need and it doesn’t matter who they are, where they are from, or what nationality they are. Jesus Christ Does Not Discriminate and neither do we; since we are to be Christlike! Outside the four walls of the church is a lost and dying world that is often forgotten about because they don't dress like the church,

they don’t look like the church, they don’t act like the church, and basically have been kicked to the curb. We tell them that Jesus loves them right where they are, just as they are, that he has a plan for their lives, and wants them to be part of his family. Our primary focus is reaching out to bikers through Wayne County Chapter of Bikers for Christ which is a ministry wherein members use their motorcycles as a means to bring the love of Jesus Christ to the lost, the last, and the outcast of the world. We ride to events, sponsor events, help any downed bikers, and participate in activities that give us an opportunity to reach out to this group of God’s children. Our secondary focus is reaching out to the depressed areas of the inner-cities. This part of outreach is accomplished by inner-city feedings, witnessing, and by meeting the physical and spiritual needs of the people. The inner-city children really have a huge place in our hearts because they are the future generation. At Christmas, we do Smiling Faces Outreach which gives out toys, bicycles, clothes, blankets, and various other miscellaneous items as are available for handout. No one group of people is any more or any less important than the other. Our mission is: TO SIMPLY SHARE THE LOVE AND HOPE OF JESUS TO A LOST, FORGOTTEN, AND DYING WORLD OF PEOPLE THAT JUST NEED TO BE SPOKEN TO BY SOMEONE WITH A GENUINE CONCERN AND CARING HEART. Please contact RevG if you are wanting more information, interested in helping, looking a biker and community church, or just wanting to talk. TO GOD BE THE GLORY - FOR HE ALONE IS GOD! Willie Nelson’s Country Throwdown Tour 2011 made one stop in North Carolina this year and it was the day-one entertainment headliner of Rapids Jam 2011 in Roanoke Rapids, N.C. The three-day concert festival kicked off June 16 at Carolina Crossroads behind The Roanoke Rapids Theatre just off I-95 at exit 171. Willie Nelson and friends performed that Thursday. Nelson’s national marketing firm announced the Country Throwdown Tour dates and locations. The second annual outdoor amphitheater trek offered a diverse lineup featuring Willie Nelson, Jamey Johnson, Randy Houser, Brantley Gilbert, Craig Campbell, Lee Brice, and Lukas Nelson (Willie’s son) and Promise of the Real.

This nationwide country music tour kicked off in Philadelphia May 27 and ran through July 4. “For them to include Rapids Jam in their announcement is really huge,” said Elizabeth Branham, Rapids Jam president. “We are getting a lot of national exposure because of it. Willie is not playing anywhere else in North Carolina and hasn’t in the state for a couple of years.”
